As others have described, this place is such a find. Was recommended here by other locals, definitely wasn't sure what to expect, considering it shares it's parking lot with a Gas Station, but don't let that discourage anyone from trying this place! The parking situation is a bit confusing.
There's a small parking lot in front of the restaurant that fills up pretty quickly. There's extra parking across the street, but the night we visited, there was a 10 dollar parking fee (no need for cash, they have QR codes to pay). We were lucky and was able to get a front space, doubly lucky seeing the parking across the street was completely full.
The Gaslight is a tale of two vibes depending on what time you go:
Before 10pm (our experience was on a Saturday): Very much a fine dining restaurant with fantastic food. The staff were very knowledgeable of each dish and cocktail and provided excellent details of each dish. I'm talking where the food was sourced from, how it's made, etc. Everything was FRESH and tasted fantastic. Probably the best food I've had since moving to Georgia! Prices are set at a very reasonable level considering the level of flavor and portion size. Trust me, it's a bargain. Atmosphere is very chill, with great live music, but still able to hold a conversation. Plenty of seating everywhere, with pockets of people mingling about but not in a obstructive manner.
After 10pm, this place transforms from the aforementioned fine dining experience, into a upscale lounge/club. Most of the tables are cleared out (seriously, felt like I looked outside for a moment, and all of them vanished), A DJ starts playing great music from any time period with music you can dance to. I'm talking 90s hip hop, 20s Swing, 80s Pop, etc. A lot of people start pouring in to dance, mingle, make new friends, and have a fantastic time. All of this, and STILL excellent service across the board. Richard and Mike (Owners/Managers) recognized us as new and took time to speak with us and introduce us to the place and made sure we had a fantastic experience and that we did! Looking forward to going again next week!
Newcomers Guide: Before 10pm: Fine Dining with live music, yet easy to converse. After 10pm: Club/Lounge atmosphere with Live DJ (and bands I hear) Dress Code: Come as you are, but know everyone dresses on average "Smart Casual" and above. Parking: Lot in front of venue, and across the street Age groups: Anywhere from 20s-50s, average age I would say is late 30s, early 40s (hard to tell because everyone is gorgeous!) Friendly atmosphere, great place to make...
Read moreI will start with the positive, everything I tasted here was delicious, the ambiance of the place was very cool and relaxing. when it finally arrived. We came in on a Tuesday night with a party of 8 to celebrate a birthday. Our server, 'Z', was friendly and the first round of beverages arrived quickly, but it started going downhill from there.
He would come and get a refill order from one half of the table and ignore the other side. There were multiple times that it was 20 minutes before we spoke to him. If the restaurant was busy I could understand, but the only other table in the restaurant was a party of 2. It was at least 30 minutes from the time we ordered appetizers until he came back to take our food order.
Most of the time he was standing at the bar talking to his female coworker. Part of me feels like he was not concerned whether we received good service because of the automatic 20% gratuity that was added to the check.
He did not even start to prepare our checks until 30 minutes after the entire table had finished eating. When we finally received the checks, nothing was correct. One of our party had to accompany him to the POS system and correctly divide the checks. Because of all this, it took over 3 hours for us to dine here.
Unfortunately, I doubt I would return, which is a shame because the food really was good. But I go out to dinner to relax and enjoy myself, and I left here without...
Read moreCarly, our server made our experience A+ & kept it going the entire evening.
Slight confusion in getting here (1st Time) as it's located in the corner adjacent to a gas station storefront. Once you park & go inside...let the good vibes roll.
The full-service restaurant & bar is bigger than what you anticipate. There's a quaint VIP (I presume) area to the right as soon as you walk in. The sprawling bar is donned with luxe lighting fixtures & decor with dedicated High-Top Bar tables.
Food-wise, there's a lack of options for plant-based eaters. However, their website does have a "Vegan Menu" page coming soon. With the proactive Carly on my side, I ended up with the Smoked Eggplant, tomatoes & garlic blended into a dip of sorts…it served its purpose. The menu is varied with lamb, ribs, poultry & seafood options - good portions & matchable prices. Extensive wine & cocktail options.
Acoustic Soul was the live music for the evening, a two-member cover band who did their thing with a diverse setlist.
An enclosed sidewalk patio will make its debut soon. Parking is available in the storefront parking lot & other options across the street.
I highly suggest The Gaslight for its creative collection of live music, dancing, libations, late-night dining & Brunch amongst a luxe & speakeasy lounge backdrop.
