I came here to get their dwaeji gukbap which is pork belly in broth and rice. They're located in the plaza of 99 Ranch Market facing south.
I went at a quiet time, they have a good amount of seating. I got their leek pancake ($6.95) and a bowl of pork soup with rice ($16.95). The guy gave me 6 banchans of kimchi, white kimchi, pickled jalapenos, salted squid, and radish kimchi.
The wait was not long and they gave me a small bowl of white rice and rice noodle to try. A small platter of chives was given to add to my bowl. The pork soup is unsalted so the tables have a container of salt and saeujot (tiny salted shrimp). They've perfected their soup recipes like dwaeji gukbap, or pork soup with rice, that’s been slow-cooking in a hot stone pot for over 24 hours.
GENEROUS slices of thiccc pork belly that goes so well with all of their yummy sides. And the gigantic dinosaur bone-looking beef ribs from their short ribs soup are fall-off-the-bone tender.
And you can also get a casual tableside fire show AKA torched spicy braised beef ribs if you’re still not warm enough yet. Pro tip, ask to add cheese on top!
Thanks for...
Read moreFour stars for their Raw Squid Banchan, ojingeo jeot. Very friendly service and great job on branding with Korean cultural theme which resonates as “touch of traditional” atmosphere.
💡Smart placement of menu items and preparation on looped video reels, side by side monitors kept it interesting to avoid creative fatigue.
Note my mom specializes in Spicy Korean Ribs, ox bone soups, and kimchi so it’s hard for a restaurant to win me over. 😇
However, I left wanting to come back to try their kimchi chigae!!! Located next to Ranch 99 Rowland Heights, parking could be an issue on weekends but ample space on Thursday evening. Refer to pics below for...
