As a lover of traditional Japanese cuisine, this place was a let down. When I asked the waitress how they prepared the Tonkotsu ramen, she said they did not make any part of it in house. The broth is purchased ready-made and mixed with water and boiled. The noodles are not made in house either, or even sourced from anywhere or anyone that makes them fresh, how they ought to be, just like the broth. Packaged god knows where, boiled, and served. Do not call yourself a ramen place and disgrace such a famous and delicious traditional dish of another nation without putting at least some effort into paying it the kind of respect it deserves. I did not inquire about the other ingredients in the ramen, such as the pork and veg. But it was painfully obvious the lack of effort and care that went into sourcing quality ingredients. Hitting a poor quality peice of pork with a torch does not qualify as respectable preparation.
Overall, though, the service was polite and friendly and would earn more stars if the serving staff knew English a bit better and did not assume the choice of eating utensil by the guest based on how the guest looks. In a true Japanese restaurant, this would never happen and I found it rude, however unintentional it may have been.
In summary, one simply cannot slap together a mediocre, used location with covering up the visible wear with some new paint, panels and flooring, hiring staff that does not fully understand the English language or care at all about paying proper respect to one of the most iconic dishes in the world and expect to get anything more than 1 or 2 star ratings from individuals who know what a true Japanese culinary experience should be like. The dish, itself, tasted fine, if a bit too much added msg and or salt. BUT the overwhelming lack of respect and passion in the dish itself hurt my soul and was brutally obvious. And I cannot in good conscience give what might be a 2 or maybe 3 star rating to the food when the food itself is not prepared fresh. Saying the ramen tasted fine is a nod to whoever did put some semblance of effort to making a broth hold some flavor in a container ready to be served in such a low effort, convenient way.
1 star is generous and it certainly was not earned by the food. It is robbery thinking you can get away with selling a bowl of ramen like that for anything more than a few bucks, let alone 15...
Read moreI really didn’t want to be the first person to write a non 5 star review. However we went and got takeout a few days after opening, we both split the Tonkotsu Ramen, which was fine up until my husband chomped down on a rock hard piece of plastic but I’m just happy this didn’t happen to a child. We called and they apologized which was appreciated, but I’m unsure if we’ll be back. It tasted okay up until that point, but having to throw the remainder away was frustrating as we didn’t know if there were any more fine plastic pieces that it could have been contaminated with.
On the brighter side, the tempura shrimp and vegetables are very good, as well as the cheesecake but it is 5 dollars for the cheesecake that doesn’t seem to come with a topping such as strawberry sauce or whipped cream, but it tasted good nonetheless. The Restaurant itself looked clean and it’s all remodeled on the inside and the staff are friendly too, it’s just a shame about the plastic, I know mistakes happen but it makes you wonder how this even happened to begin with.
If we ever do come back maybe the review will change but until then it...
Read moreWhen we arrived for our date night dinner, the parking lot was surprisingly empty (not usually a great sign), but after trying the food, I can’t believe this place isn’t packed!
One of the main reasons I chose this restaurant was because they have a robot that serves food, which I thought was such a cool idea. Unfortunately, it seemed to be out of order, just sitting at the front the entire time.
I hadn’t planned on ordering a drink, but my husband convinced me to try the Purple Haze, which is a hot sake and wine combo. I’m so glad I did! It was delicious, but definitely best enjoyed while it’s still warm.
We ordered five different rolls: • Bang Bang Roll • First Kiss • No Name Roll • Lollipop Roll • Passion Roll
Every single one was amazing! The flavors were fresh and well-balanced, and we’d happily order all of them again. This was hands down the best sushi we’ve had in a long time. We can’t wait for our next...
