Apart from the name, which seems to be a play on words promoting dirty language, this place is wonderful.
The name gave me the impression that it would be run by some young rotten kids but it turns out that it is owned and run by the most kind and wonderful family.
The food is absolutely delicious. My wife and I both had the number 9 (pho tai). The meat lacked any gristle. it was lean and tender. The slices were not paper-thin and instead just the right size -- not too large that they wouldn't cook and not so thin that you're eating skin.
The soup is the star here. It was truly delicious. You can tell that they invested much time into ensuring the soup brought a good deal of flavor to the dish. As of 7/2025, they have been running this restaurant for 3 months and boy did they knock it out of the park.
I must say I was so pleasantly surprised with the portion as well. Often times, noodle restaurants are so stingy with the noodles but not here. There is only one size bowl and it was quite filling. Children or smaller adults might have trouble finishing it. Maybe they would consider a children's size at least. If you have two children, get a second empty bowl to save money and prevent waste. It is comparable to a 'large bowl' and will fill you up nicely.
The atmosphere is very pleasant. The lobby is nice and open and clean, as were the bathrooms which were also spotless.
Overall, on behalf of my wife and I, this place well deserves 9 stars, which is represented by the 4.5 average. It turns out the rating is just right. I would surely give 10 stars but for my distaste of the name. I love the restaurant but don't much care for having to pronounce its name.
If you eat here, you will surely find a gem to enjoy for a long time. Justin...
Read moreThere was one server the whole time. We seriously only saw one person who worked there. He spent a lot of time back in the kitchen so I wouldn't be surprised if he was also making the food!
We arrived at 6:14 (I know because I checked my phone right then) and the server told us it would be about 40 minutes before we would get our food. We decided that sounded reasonable and he sat us at a table. After sitting there for 10 minutes, the server brought us water. About 10 minutes later, he came back and took our order. At about 7:10, we finally got our food. My husband ordered the Pho and I ordered Vietnamese style pork. His Pho was hot, like it's supposed to be, so that was good. My food was cold. My recommendation is that if you don't already know that you like Vietnamese style pork, get the grilled pork. The grilled pork is a normal flavor. The Vietnamese style pork was not only cold and tasted like it had been sitting out, it tasted like chemicals. I would not recommend the Vietnamese Style Pork from this restaurant to anyone. I was so disappointed.
We went to this restaurant for my birthday dinner (we're from SLC and have gone to other Vietnamese restaurants and figured this one might be a good choice) and it was a terrible dinner. I would never...
Read moreUpdate: When this place was Van Loi the food was Delicious! Now that it has changed owners the food has unfortunately gone downhill. The new name is fun, i like it. The food not so much. The pho was VERY salty, the egg rolls were too salty and OILY!! I honestly don't know how any Asian can mess up an egg roll?! I've made over thousands in my life and not one is as oily and dripping of grease the way these do! The spring rolls are an utter disappointment, spring rolls are my favorite food.... and for them to be so sloppin'wet and filled with water?! I don't even know how you can mess that up?! I took a bite of my spring roll and I got a mouth full of water! Not the best experience. 🤮 I wish I can say this was a one time bad experience but it wasn't. I have given them 3 chances!! The first 2 times I thought maybe it was just off days... but nope, I can say they are just consistently BAD! Yuck. I will say my family and I won't be coming here ever again.
When it was Van loi, Great food, and I keep coming back. The service however is so slow. Be prepared to wait an extremely long time...
