Hubby and I had just come from the Hill AFB Aerospace Museum (which is fantastic by the way) and wanted a place to have lunch and R and K Brunch House popped up on the search engine.
Even with the GPS it was a little hard to find. It actually sits on the Main Street and not the side street where the directions took us. A little house sitting between a car parts store and another big business which I don't recall what it was.
Absolutely adorable in the inside, staff was wonderful and accommodating.
What we ordered: Their house iced tea was delicious. I had the Honey Citron and hubby had the lemonade..... Mmmmm
The Berry Crepe' - This was the most delicious crepe' I've ever had. I ate every bite of it and wanted more. Light and fluffy crepe' with a nice filling that wasn't over powering and the berries were the star of this dish. Sooooo many berries and of course it had whipped cream as well.
(1) Carne Asada Taco - Very nicely done and the meat was flavorful. Hot sauce on the side is pretty WOW hot so just be aware.
Campechano Omelet - Carne Asada, chorizo, tomatoes and jalapeños with breakfast potatoes and biscuit. This was a huge omelette and portion of potatoes. And the omelette was so fluffy on the inside and spiced just right.
Chili Relleno Buritto - We got this burrito to go to take back to my mom in Idaho. It lasted the trip the next day and when heated back up was so delicious. I would order this one again for sure.
Prices were a tad high but not anything totally out of the norm for todays restaurants and the food was delicious.
When we come back to the SLC area this will definitely be one of our "go to"...
Read moreSo I walk into R and K Brunch House thinking, sure, just a little lunch. A casual bite. What I didn’t realize? I was walking straight into a spiritual awakening wrapped in a tortilla.
I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos. Three tacos. That’s tres tacos for those of you feeling extra spicy and bilingual. Each taco packed more emotional punch than a Pixar montage set to soft piano. I took one bite and made a sound that would get you banned from a library. Somewhere between a gasp, a moan, and the noise a dolphin makes when it’s trying to pick you up at a bar.
The birria? Tender. Juicy. Like a warm meat hug wrapped in a corn tortilla straight from the gods. The cheese? Oozy. Melty. The kind of cheese that sticks to your soul and makes your whole body smile. And then… the consomé. That rich, shimmering dipping broth. I dunked my taco and I left my body. I think I became a hummingbird for a minute. Colors got brighter. My credit score went up. Somewhere, a choir of mariachi angels sang Bohemian Rhapsody in Spanish, just for me.
The staff? Legends. Absolute champions. The kind of people who greet you like, “Ah, you’ve arrived. We’ve been expecting you. The prophecy tacos are ready.” Every check-in felt like a therapy session disguised as brunch.
Bottom line? These tacos didn’t just feed me. They healed me. They filled a void I didn’t even know I had. If you haven’t been here, GO. If you’re on your way, RUN FASTER. If you’re eating somewhere else? Put down your fork, NOW, you’re living a lie.
I’d give them six stars, but Google refuses to let me have more than five. Can...
Read moreWe have breakfast at a variety of places fairly often and felt the price point was too high. One review they justified the high price for “local quality ingredients” but the asada truly was sub par. I don’t know what I was paying for to make it worth nearly $20. I got the Campechano Omelette and it was underwhelming. Didn’t have tomato's like the menu says and was also missing the jalapeño. The omelette was just egg with everything on top or inside (like a tortilla). The onions inside were just raw, chopped. The asada was VERY fatty. I think it had like 3 pieces that were actual steak quality. Honestly for $18, I was very disappointed. My husband enjoyed his plate, so maybe it’s just what I ordered. The cafe de olla was good, not refillable. We also got an order of Nutella crepes ($16) - good crepe but the Nutella was really light. Whipped cream was also the kind from a can. Again, price point pretty steep. Presentation of the dishes were great. I do think the presentation is what they have going for them.
Overall, maybe I’d come back to try something else. This place has some great opportunity but should adjust the price and quality. The waitresses were kind, but didn’t seem open enough to welcome...
