I LOVE Bucharest Grill and have been to the Detroit locations many times over the years. I was thrilled for a location to open up closer to home but this new location is TERRIBLE. I have only been twice and both experiences have been bad. First of all, allow 15 or more minutes to receive your correct order AFTER you have already placed it and confirmed your order time. Do not expect to walk in an your order will be ready and correct.
The first time, I placed an order for two 6-packs. I waited at least 20 minutes past the confirmed order time and upon receiving them I could not read the writing on the wrappers to confirm what was what and if correct modifications had been made. Even the employees could not read the other employees markings on the wrappers and each shawarma had to be unwrapped to determine what was in it, then marked so I could actually read it. Not to mention the shawarmas were cold by this time.
The second time I placed an online order for 11am. When I arrived the ticket had not even been pulled and I was told it would just “be a few minutes”. It was at least 15 minutes while they made the order completely from the start while I watched. What is the point of an online order for a specific time if they will not even make the order until you arrive? Also it took three confused employees to confirm that the requested modifications had been correctly made to my order.
Also the portion sizes are significantly smaller than the Detroit locations but are the same price. My shawarmas one half of a tomato slice, a few scraps of cabbage, and no more than half the meat I’ve received every single time from the Detroit locations.
So much for the hype of a Royal Oak location! Will NOT...

TLDR: Good food, friendly, wrong service. THEY WILL TELL YOU YOUR PHONE ORDER ISN'T READY! BUT THEY ARE LIKELY WRONG? (happened more than twice.) Friendly service, but they're wrong too often and not very apologetic about it.
This is the second time I was told my order wasn't ready when it was. I ended up waiting an extra 22 min or so until I got my order. I realize mistakes happen, but it wasn't even busy as these things go. Eventually, when there was practically nobody else waiting, I asked again and the finally found it. Almost no apology either. This has happened twice at this location and at least once at the new center location.
Maybe I have to be a more aggressive customer. Usually when the customer thinks their right and is aggressive about it they are wrong. I hate to tell people behind a counter they're wrong, because usually they aren't.
Maybe a board that lists what orders are up would help?
KIND OF IRRITATED I BROKE A $20 TO TIP IN ADVANCE FOR THIS. (Really wish the credit card reader would let people tip.)

Amazing chicken shwarma. The Bucherest has French fries in it and is particularly good. The only downside is it doesn't reheat as well as the regular shwarma does. Now that they have a closer location to me that's not as important now. The 6 pack is...
Read moreI've visited this location twice recently in order to pick up a DoorDash order that I put in for myself. I will absolutely not be returning.
I wasn't greeted by a single worker on my first visit. No one even looked up at me. I had picked up an online order for myself previously over by the carryout section, so I headed there. Again, no one acknowledged me. Not a "hello", not a "how can we help you", nothing. The carryout worker had airpods in and didn't even look up at me, while both cashiers were texting/facetiming. Eventually after I interrupt a facetime call, they tell me that it's at the "online order" section. The supposed manager grabs my food from behind the counter with a snarky comment about "online orders here" added. Just a thought here, if you have an "online order" section, maybe put a sign. Put ANYTHING to direct people.
Same experience the second time. It was a little busier this time, so maybe that's the issue? Nope, cashiers both texting. No acknowledgement while walking in. No communication. Snarky comment from the manager AGAIN. Dude, I can't fetch my food from behind the counter on my own. You have zero signage about online orders. Just treat the customer like a human being and get off of your phones.
I used to enjoy the food here, but I'll defer to the Detroit location. A hint for the cooks/chefs/etc, you slice chicken against the grain. Every single time I ordered at this location it's sliced with the grain and...
