On St. Patrick’s Day, Duggan’s Irish Pub on Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, Michigan, transformed into a vibrant sea of green, embodying the festive spirit of the holiday. The ambiance was lively and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for celebration. Our meal began with the roast beef Reuben sandwich, served on crunchy marble rye bread. The combination of tender roast beef and the crispiness of the bread made for a delightful experience. We also tried the Sue chicken and chips plate, which featured chicken that was tasty and had a satisfying crunch on the outside. However, the French fries accompanying our dishes were somewhat lackluster and could benefit from improvement. Duggan’s offers seating across two levels, with the second floor providing expansive views of the surrounding area. While the top floor is often preferred for its vantage point, we found the first-floor seating to be equally enjoyable. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was enhanced by the establishment’s rich display of automotive history, reflecting its deep-rooted connection to the local culture. Overall, Duggan’s Irish Pub offers a genuine Irish pub experience, especially during festive occasions like St. Patrick’s Day. With its lively ambiance, diverse menu, and unique setting, fun games to play too. it’s a place worth visiting, though there’s room for slight improvements in certain menu items as the french fries.

Duncan’s on Wooward was a classic bar restaurant.   I remember it from high school.   What I saw today, it became nothing special. The drink was priced well and the taste was nothing really special for a whiskey sour.   It was large enough for one with what's going on. The burger was cooked well enough.   It was the medium rare as requested.   The thick onion was a little overpowering.  The blue cheese only came out in one bite.  The biggest problem with the burnt char.   You could tell the cooking team did not clean the grill in a while.    The fries were nothing special. The biggest problem of the night was the service and other items.   I am guessing the bar was being run by the manager or owner.  If you knew the guy,  you were okay.  If you did not, It sucks completely.  My group was ignored a few times .  The second area was the price grab and other areas.    It is advertising free wifi on the door. Once you got in the place, it was locked down.  The fries were extra and nothing special.  There were surcharges on certain Items because they did not want to reprint menus.   It was the second place in all my places that did the Credit 3 percent overcharge. Honestly I would stay away.  Let It live as an icon not as a true restaurant.

We ended up here after other plans were cancelled at the last minute. We started at Red Coat but with the popularity of that place, it was a longer wait then the group wanted to wait. So we all headed across the road to Duggan's Irish Pub. No real disappointment, everything went well and the food was good. I had the Scottish Salmon, wonderful flavor and some of the best asparagus I have had all year. The rice pilaf was a little basic for me and the same kind that you would get at any other restaurant. I must say that the salad was bigger than normal and everything was fresh. Everyone was very happy and full when we left

I used to work close to this place, and my friends and I would go for drinks and/or dinner when we closed the store. Their service used to be amazing; quick to come take our drinks when we sat down, followed by timely taking our food orders once we got our drinks. They had really great pizza for a bar, and I really liked the simple quesadillas. The Long Island iced teas were always good.

Had family in town for Christmas this year, and we had long wait times for other places and Duggans have no wait whatsoever, at peak dinner time on a Saturday. That should have been a clue, but we had walked around a lot of places and we were all tired and hungry, so no wait was perfectly fine…

Two orders of the Big Chief burger and fries, and the fries tasted as though they were frozen and definitely not fresh. Burgers were.. eh. Expensive for what the quality was, and incredibly disappointed.

I ordered the bar pizza; and it was unpleasant, to put it nicely. The dough was bland and overcooked with sauce that was awful and tasted like cheap canned crap. Too much cheese to the point that that was all I could taste over the peppers, sausage and even onions.

There was shepherds pie ordered, and there was some sort of solid object in it, that was green, and somewhat stringy and ruined the already crappy tasting filling. You are an “Irish Pub” that can’t do shepherds pie well? And has Cajun sounding meals, which sounded good but again.. Irish?

And the last meal was fish and chips. It looked great, it was crispy on the outside, smelled good and even looked appetizing. On the ride back to our house, where all of us had met and carpooled, the individual who ate it started having stomach cramps and went home right away. The fish was apparently not completely cooked, and he didn’t realize that, and got food poisoning.

I’m wondering if between the last time I came here and this week, if the place was sold/exchanged hands or something. The quality was beyond abysmal. We waited around for over 45 minutes after we had finished eating for the waitress to come back. When we asked her to bring the check so we could leave, I am pretty positive that she knew we were very unhappy. It came off entirely like she didn’t want to hear us complain about the awful food, so she didn’t have to bring it back to the kitchen, which would have meant no tip because we wouldn’t have waited for new food for everyone or paid for more garbage.

Disgusting and not...

Went with my boyfriend to have lunch on July 9th. When we first walked in we were a bit confused as to where to go. The lower level was mostly a bar area and closed off so we went upstairs to the upper level and we saw another bar. I was confused where to sit down and eat until we saw people and the left side a little hidden eating at several dinning tables. The place had like an old 90s vibe to it. But it was very cool up there. Had all the windows open so it was very windy.

To say about their food. My boyfriend ordered the Big Chief burger with fries. And I ordered the little chief with fries. It wasn't the best burger nor the worst but the burger lacked flavor and it was very bland and dry. Their special sauce honestly tasted like I was eating a chicken boullion cube. Never thought I would taste that in a burger. It was very offputing. It almost made me not want to eat the rest of my burger. The only good thing from my food were the fries. The fries were very crispy and right amount of salt. Honestly I would of gotten a better burger at McDonald's or Burgerking, atleast it wouldn't be so dry and bland.

Service was good. Got everything to us on time. Very attentive and nice to us.

Sadly we were both disappointed because we heard alot of good comments about this place, but that wasn't the case. Sorry but this place is a...
