This is a very modern and industrial coffee shop design, they opened recently and used that to excuse possibly slow service, but the service didn't seem slow to me.
The Goods: 1.) The coffee was very tasty with a good combination of sweet but not overpowering flavor, this is anecdotal to my drink but the other 4 in my group had positive thoughts about their coffees as well.
2.) As I entered the store I was greeted with a cheery hello from all 3 (it may have been four people) behind the counter, which was pleasant.
3.) The design was clean, clearly thought out with intention, and was very cohesive.
4.) Someone, either a manager or the owner (they didn't identify themselves) came over to ask about how things were while we sat to drink our coffees, and supposing they were genuinely seeking input -aka constructive criticism- this is a great prospect for a business.
5.) The large coffee size was actually quite a good bit of coffee, and wasn't just all ice, a pleasant contrast to many coffee places that aren't chains.
The Neutral:
1.)The price was very average for what most non-chain coffee shops are charging now-a-days, and although it didn't seem unreasonable, I still hesitate to pay 6+ dollars for a cup of coffee
2.) There were outlets around but for some reason or another, it almost felt too up-class to stay and study in there, like studying in a fancy dining room. Not necessarily never, but less of the vibe I'd personally be looking for.
The Bads:
There was only one major complaint, and it's probably not something that can be fixed in hindsight, but the exterior of the building is a tan or whitish color due to the stonework of the building, and as the door is solid (and quite impressive) as I entered the darkness of the room was actually a bit aggressive, that combined with the pleasant greeting of four people, was a tad overwhelming, and even worse, going from the dark inside to the very bright outside is actually quite hard on the eyes. A caviat--I do tend to have sensitive eyes, so that may be just me, but this could have been considered in the interior design contrasted to the location.
Overall very pleasant and I would visit again if I lived closer (and will when I'm...
Read moreTLDR : great coffee, great vibes, immaculate energy. If you have not tried out, Royal Oak roast, I highly suggested it. My personal favorite is the hot golden joy with oat !!
The consistency of Royal Oak roast is something to be admired.
The service is spot on and insanely fast. Let me just say everyone there, every Sunday, will always approach you with a smile, and do whatever they can so that you leave in a better mood than when you came in. They always go above and beyond , and answer any questions that you may have of any of their drinks. The service in itself will make you want to come back again and again.
The food in the facility caught me offguard the first time I had it. I stayed safe by going for the vegan almond butter bar for quite a while until I finally mustard up the courage to try their food menu. Let me just say do not overlook the brunch menu, because if you do, you will be sorely mistaken. The menu is filled with many items from waffles to confectionery goods all the way to brunch items that I guarantee Will make you happy to have eaten it. Another thing I've noticed, was, if an item is delivered to the customer, no matter how big or small the ask may be, the facility will quickly take the item back, remake it, and have it in your hands quick.
The overall environment of the café is elegant, but also cozy. It's a great place to have a meeting, do some studying or some work, or even just show up and lounge around with a good book. I wish I knew of this facility when I was...
Read moreIm gonna sound like a total matcha nut.
I dont know what it is about the Matchas, I reccomend the ROR getting a finer or a different grade, checking where the Matcha Powder is stored, if it is exposed to too much moisture it can cause the matcha to be extra clumpy, buy a new/finer whisk, or review the whisking process with staff.
Their signature lattes using espresso are amazing don't get me wrong, but I've been making a switch to matcha for the L-theanine.
I've ordered the matcha Latte three times here: 1st basic matcha latte, 2nd Matcha with Flavored syrup for sweetness, and again today with vanilla for sweetness. This was try #3 Matcha with Vanilla to add sweetness, and I dont know if the Large is just too overwhelming for the matcha powder, milk, syrup ratio or what but I know it still is too bitter even with the syrup.
The matcha powder is also very chunky/extra sandy consistently, which i know its a pain to whisk it which is why i'll probably avoid ordering it in the future, you always have some kind of sediment with the matcha but cafes in the surrounding areas seemed to have it down so I'm not sure why Royal Oak roast has not mastered it yet.
Again their signature Lattes are amazing, I love the rotating schedule, but for matcha latte lovers maybe this...
