Ye Olde Saloon — Restaurant in Royal Oak

I am a former regular. This was a bar on our regular rotation. Until now. Horrible horrible management. Disrespectful. I've come here consistently a half dozen nights a month for the past year and a half. Regularly. Burger specials every Sunday. Random days in between.

I lack the eloquence to describe the completely unacceptable and unprofessional attitude and behavior of the staff. For some reason I feel like I owe it to a former favorite establishment to help them resect the insidious rotten core that is imploding this establishment.

I've preached this places praise for over a year now to anyone who would listen. Now. I can only hope someone who is in a position of authority will step up and save this faltering dive.

Ultimately this place has potential. Yet, either through incompetence or laziness, the upper level management has allowed disappointment, disrespect, and incompetence to be on tap.

I look forward to being able to recommend this place to coworkers and...

I live in Royal Oak for many obvious reasons. I selected the location of where I want to live for one reason and one reason only…Ye Olde Saloon. This is a true story.

Before I purchased my home I checked out EVERY bar, diner, sandwich shop, and restaurant between 10 and 12 mile. Every place between Campbell and Coolidge.

There is absolutely no place better than Ye Olde.

I’m hesitant to send this post because it’s already busy and I don’t need you all jamming the place up. The staff treats you like family, and the food is made to order (right in front of you I might add).

Honestly, completely blown away by this establishment. First of all, open until 2am every night (which is somehow rare in the post Covid world)… they have a giant liquor selection, extensive rotating tap list (including many fine Michigan micro brews) a pool table, SHUFFLEBOARD, darts, pinball… oh and the FOOD WAS AMAZING!!! Literally the best patty melt I’ve ever had in my life. Not sure how late the kitchen is open every night but we ordered well after midnight and it came out right away. Did I mention how friendly and chill the staff was? It’s like the bar I always look for but never find…....
