Last stop and early morning breakfast before making the long road trip back to Austin. Saw the reviews of this place and knew we had to try it! Got there around 8am and had their green chile omelette with a croissant and my boyfriend had the rio rancho huevos rancheros with green chile and we decided to share a berry crepe! He had morning coffee while I had their freshly squeezed OJ! Everything was AMAZING! I really wanted to try green chile before we left town (since New Mexico was known for it) and this really hit the spot. The OJ was also some of the best I’ve had. My bf isn’t the biggest crepe eater but he loved the berry crepe. The eggs in my omelette were so soft and pillowy and melted in my mouth! Coffee was freshly brewed this morning and my boyfriend really appreciated it (as sometimes they serve one day old coffee and we appreciate when it does come fresh). Im not much of a diner person usually but love to stop during road trips and this is definitely up there as one of my favorite ones I’ve tried so far! They also had a wide selection of amazing pastries in their bakery. I hope to come back here soon and try their gigantic Texas styled cinnamon roll! The service was amazing and it was very spacious with their seating. We also got our food SUPER FAST as well. So amazing and quick service! Couldn’t recommend this place enough! The beautiful waitress complimented my bf on his baby yoda Christmas sweater and he really appreciated it! Left a smile on our face as this was the last spot we checked out on our trip to Ruidoso! 5/5 stars!

This has been a favorite restaurant of mine since the early 2000s when I would come to Ruidoso as a visitor. Now that I’ve lived here a few years, it still is! The service is always phenomenal, very friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is bright with a good atmosphere, perfect for a morning pick me up. The coffee is delicious, with a hint of pecan flavor. The food is good, I love their Turkey Club, delicious! More often than not I am there for breakfast. They have a few selections but nothing extraordinary. Typical breakfast: eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, etc. I enjoy everything except for the country potatoes which I find to be extremely dry and flavorless. They do also offer lighter fare such as oatmeal. The oatmeal is overpriced in my opinion, at almost $14-15. They also have a bakery with various delicious assortments of pastries which are all very tasty. My favorite is the decadent cheesecake. They also serve wine and beer. The times I’ve ordered beer they bring you a frosted glass that just makes it so much better. Overall, the prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area, looking at plates from $10 and up. The service is what makes it for me, basing it on all my experiences eating here, they have the best service in Ruidoso. It’s almost as if the waiters and waitresses look forward to coming to work! All super nice. Don’t leave Ruidoso without giving this place a try, even if just for a cup of coffee or a slice of pie. This place can have long lines during the weekends when more tourists are in the area.

If you've ever watched the show Kitchen Nightmares, you know exactly what kind of establishment this is. We ordered 2 chile relleno omelettes, 2 Vietnamese coffees, and an almond croissant. The croissant and potatoes (that came with the omelette) were decent, but everything else tasted really off. The "green chile sauce" on top of the omelette tasted like a watered-down hollandaise that had gone bad. Coffee was really gross, with a 2 inch layer of water on the top, that even when mixed tasted of stale coffee and rancid milk. On top of that, the biscuit was soggy and falling apart. Our server was nice, but she genuinely seemed scared to get the manager for us. She also warned us that the restaurant can't "take off" items from your bill you don't like. The manager took 15 minutes to show up after passing my table once and not saying anything while bringing take-out to the kitchen. Not a good sign.... I told her it tasted off/spoiled, and she seemed skeptical. I offered to pay for what we ate (potatoes and croissant), and she agreed. She showed up with a bill of $30, which was only $1 less than the previous "discounted" bill that still charged us for the coffees and biscuit. I can't recommend this place at all, from the weird and off-tasting food, to the scared wait staff, and the Cornerstone of it all: the disrespectful and scummy management (see other bad reviews) that will nickle and dime you for everything.

TLDR: food disappointing, tense environment. I really wanted to like this place. We went in a little before 2 knowing they closed at 3 but figuring we had enough time for a quick bite. They seemed a little stressed about it. Asked about a few of the pastries, but apparently they were already sold even though they were in the case. So we ordered two different cookies, a Mexican wedding cookie and a pecan sandy. They were the same cookie, one just had powdered sugar. They weren’t the best but I think they were the best thing we had. We ordered mixed drinks, they were ok, our poor waitress kept apologizing about being out of things, including the garnishes for our over priced drinks. Apparently someone quit so things were a little hectic. But we were just treated very unprofessionally. Like we were imposing on being there. And then our food was just so disappointing. My hubby ordered breakfast and the potatoes were dry and old, the sausage was dry and old, one egg was over cooked one was undercooked. It was just bad. I ordered the veggie sandwich and it was like a raw onion and bread sandwich. There was a little cheese and an odd mushroom and bell pepper a few pieces of spinach. My side salad (spring mix) and ranch was good. But the sandwich was lacking. At least the bread was good. I think I could’ve put up with the disappointing food if the environment was better. They were obviously stressed and short staffed but complaining to and in front of customers made for a very uncomfortable experience. I hope it was just a bad day but I don’t think we’ll be back. We also observed others around us being told what they were ordered was out and problems with their food. Also we didn’t feel comfortable using our salt and pepper shakers because they were...

We recently ate at the Cornerstone Bakery & Cafe in Ruidoso, NM and the experience was awful! After reviewing our credit card bill, we were charged an additional $10.00. The bill I was presented with (and signed) was for $43.52. However, they charged us $53.52. We left a cash tip and put a zero in the tip space. Apparently, they put a 1 in front of the zero. That is out right fraud! Also, the food was average and the owner was very rude and loud when confronted about the lack of guacamole on a dish that was highlighted as a sandwich with guacamole. You also need to pay attention to the additional charges that they add on, i.e. water. Who charges for tap water? They also do not pay attention to egg prices, they have gone down, yet you still have a egg surcharge. Definitely will not return there, nor will I recommend this place to anyone I know. * I had to edit my review after seeing the response received by the owner. You did call the police for an incident you seemed to not be able to handle as an owner of this establishment. We were NOT escorted out by the police! One person left the restaurant before you called the police. The rest of our party finished our breakfast but probably should have left as well. You did overcharge our credit card with a bogus tip. We left a cash tip! All of this could have been averted if you would have taken care of the customer that had the issue with his food. As an owner of this establishment you would think you would want return business by making your customers feel good about eating there. I have never been to an establishment where the owner yells and curses at his customers with other customers and children watching on. ...

We were here on a weekend trip to visit the lakes and we decided to have breakfast at this establishment, however it ended up being an extremely terrible experience. We travel to many places and have been to many restaurants and this was one of the most frustrating establishments we have visited. We got down as we had our dogs in the car so we wanted to order a quick carry out. We came in and midway through ordering the people taking our order switched and it ended up being 3 different people that took our order. After that we were asked to sit down and wait for our food to be ready. Although we had very clearly asked for carry out the lady gave me the pie I had ordered on a plate and I had to eat it there in the dining section. I asked for it warm and it seemed she threw it in the microwave for 5 seconds as most of it was still cold. We sat there and witnessed as two parties that sat down after us receiving their food, still no sign of ours. We had to go check to make sure our dogs were OK as it was taking way too long after about an hour we decided to ask them where our food was. The guy goes to the back and gets our food maybe a second later. Obviously it had been sitting in the back some where for some time now. We left extremely frustrated but it did not end there. Oh, mercy I wish it would have at least ended there. We get to the Lake and to our surprise the order was completely wrong. Instead of pancakes, we got waffles and the 2 main courses were completely different than what we ordered aside from the food being cold because it sat in the back somewhere for I am not sure how long. I do not recommend anyone eat here as it was a...
