We are visiting from Texas and were walking down Sudderth and noticed this place. I had seen reviews about it before when looking up restaurants so we decided to give it a try. We are foodies and from Dallas where there's Mexican restaurants on every corner. We have eaten enough Mexican food at this point and know what good Mexican food is.
We walked in and were immediately seated which was nice as many places in this area seem to have long waits. The doors were open and there were some flies inside. It was hot and a little musty inside (not a huge deal.. the weather was nice and it wasnt unbearable by any means..especially when youre from Texas). The server was super friendly and immediately got us drinks. We read from reviews that the enchiladas were delicious so my husband and myself decided on that. He got chicken and I got the Comal enchiladas. Our son got the steak tacos. The first red flag for me were the salsa and chips. The chips were very stale and the salsa didn't have much flavor. We ordered and requested a side of queso. The queso was awful. It was incredibly watery and tasted like a mixture of kraft cheese with milk and extra water to make it last longer. It kept separating and was literally like a cheese soup. It was weird and we hardly ate it. We LOVE queso and this was disappointing.
We got our food and I was thoroughly unimpressed (but at this point not surprised). I'm not sure how someone can mess up enchiladas but there was simply no flavor. My husband felt the same way. The food did seem fresh but it was lacking majorly in spice and flavor. It was the kind of flavor you'd get from canned food. My son's steak tacos were not good. They were very greasy and the meat didn't taste right. Just lacking flavor and spice. The rice and beans were as bland as they come.
I'm giving this one star because the server was super sweet and quick. But aside from that, we were incredibly disappointed. It stinks to spend 40 bucks on flavorless food, stale chips, and watery cheese soup (queso). Do not recommend if you are from Texas and used to Mexican food how we...
Read moreWe were a party of 6 adults and 2 small children. Visited on 12/19/21. The restaurant had just opened and no customers had yet arrived. They would not seat us because we were over 6 people. The waitress wanted to seat us but the grungy cook said no. Im assuming he was the owner because the waitress kept looking at him to see what he would say. I asked if they could seat us 4 and 4 per table and again the cook said no. The waitress shrugged her shoulders knowing she couldn't do anything about it so we left. At a time when businesses are struggling and don't want to go under I would think they would want every single customer they can get. I guess the owner thinks he is doing enough business that he can refuse anyone. Don't worry Mr. owner, we won't patronize your business anymore. You left a very poor impression of your business. As tourists in Ruidoso, you also gave us a bad impression of the town you live in and represent. Hope you're happy with your conduct...
Read moreThe initial pictures I saw of this place made it seem much bigger, there were just about 5 tables, so very small...I ordered the red cheese enchiladas with beans & rice and a ground beef taco on the side with Xtra cheese...the rice was a light colored rice with corn bits, beans were also very light in a thin watery sauce but both tasted fine, the enchiladas were good and very mild...my problem was the taco, it was served in a store bought pre-made shell, it did come with lots of cheese but the cheese and taco over all was cold...bland...I also had a tea with the meal, the ticket was typical at $12.40...if you just want a quick meal at a standard price and don't care about ambiance or eating 7 feet from the kitchen this...
