McAlister's is the only place we go in Russellville when we're cravin' a good sammie. The staff is super nice, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is fast. But, a restaurant is all about the food, which is quite good.
When I try a new sandwich place, I order either a Muffaletta or Reuben and dare them to impress me. Both are very difficult to get right, and the slightest corners cut on ingredient quality are glaringly obvious.
McAlister's Muffaletta was not exactly the real deal, but nobody would reasonably expect that from a fast-casual chain restaurant. Still quite good, though!
Next time, I ordered the New Yorker, which is a corned beef and pastrami. It was great, and this is coming from a hardcore, dyed-in-the-wool foodie! The thinly sliced meats are piled high, and served on a soft marbled rye (no caraway seeds though) with a tasty dressing. A bit short of New York or Philly delicatessen fare, but I'm in Arkansas, so hey!
Their Club is a mighty tasty take on the old classic, with an unexpected honey mustard dressing that compliments the sandwich well.
I usually get my old standby, the New Yorker, while my wife always tries a new sandwich, salad or baked potato, and my sample bite is consistently super enjoyable. Every side item I've had ranged from fairly good to very good, although the portions are rather small indeed. As other reviewers have noted, the iced tea is extra good.
I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could, deducting half a star for the small side item portions and no french fries on the menu in a sandwich shop. But, that doesn't merit only 4 stars in the overall context of what it is. Actually, it sounds...
Read moreWell, I'm generally not a complainer but our visit to McAlister's could have been better. I had a gift card that I had received for Christmas and the $5 bonus was expiring in a few days so my wife and I decided to go there and eat.
We both ordered a bowl of soup, half a chicken club sandwich, and iced tea. The big cup of tea was the highlight. As for the soup and sandwich it was about average. The half sandwich itself was not a deli roll type sandwich but was more made out of slices of bread. The amount of soup totaled maybe a little over a cup. For that we paid $22 and some change. It was hardly worth it. However the soup was good (broccoli-cheddar). I just wish they wouldn't have been so stingy with...
Read moreThe food here is absolutely amazing a I. The service we received today was outstanding provided by by an employee named Riley. She did an outstanding job, was extremely friendly and exceptionally helpful.
The restaurant was extremely clean including the restrooms temperature was just the right temp.
There was not a single employee that I noticed that did not have a smile on their face and was happy to be working here.
Management must be done an outstanding job in the selection of employees and the way they are treated.
My family and I will definitely be back for many more purchases to be made here at mcalister's deli.
Thank you for being such an important part of...
