I have worked at Sumos since March, until today. I have never once called in or have been late. I was promised full time when I was hired and never once did they fulfill that promise. The day I was scheduled 23 hours of work for a week, I applied for another job. The job called back and asked me to come train. I was scheduled to work that day at Sumos. I gave the manager (Ricky) 12+ hours notice that I couldn't come in yesterday due to me starting another job. When coming in the next day, he wanted me to sign a write up for calling in. Mind you again, this is my first call in ever. I refused to sign it and I quit. Other co-workers have no called no show, called off before, didn't get write ups or fired. Priorly to this write up, I was threatened to be written up for as he put it "spreading rumors". This came from myself and another co-worker telling other co-workers what we saw that day. We saw RICKY, the manager and co-owner, pick up veggies that were dropped onto the floor and then served to customers. He threatened to write ME up for a mistake HE made. Since day one he has picked on me. I have cried so many days at this place. Other co-workers and even costumers have even told me "I am so sorry you have to deal with that/ he shouldn't speaking to you like that / why is he only so mean to you?" I have been disrespected since the day I started.
Now I'm not saying the service is not good here. The main server who trained me, does her job GOOD. She was not just a co worker, but a friend. Friendly to all other workers, trained me so well how to do things RIGHT. All the servers there are amazing, and service is always great there.
But this is MY experience, and I'm not going quietly after biting my tongue for months. He needs to know you cannot treat people...
Read moreWell I think this is half my fault. Full parking lot, not a local( so looked good). I ordered Sushi to go. Plus got chicken Pad Thai for tomorrow. I am only reviewing Sushi at this time( O.T.R truck driver wanted two good meals for the week). Ordered a Spicy Tuna Roll and a Kitty Kitty Roll( do not ask me where they come up with the names). Food was only so so. Miso soup was the worst I have ever eaten( came with the Chicken Pad Thai). SpicyTuna roll looked off color tasted all wrong, no robust color at all( they also forgot the spicy part, just tuna and rice. The Kitty Kitty was an original combo( sounded exciting Tempura Shrimp,Crab[ imitation] Cream Cheese, Avacado and Eel Sauce with Spicy Mayo) but had no flavor except the sauce. Like I said half my fault ordering Sushi from a land locked State. Every one else was having the Hibachi "experience " and place was packed with people waiting. Will admit the people were the best part of my experience. If I am ever back in area will try the Hibachi dishes........ Well this is to finish my revue today I tried the Pad Thai. I do not want to belittle this place( people I interacted with were all awesome supremely helpful). Like I said I think I bought the wrong things from this establishment . Next time I will eat Sushi from a Sushi restaurant( this place is called Sumo who knows Sushi better than the Japenese) and Thai food from a restaurant that knows what that really is( meaning a real Thai food place). I have nothing else to say. I hope this...
Read moreFood was not bad but the service was terrible. We're new in town and thought we'd have a nice night out, so we tried Sumo. We were a party of 6 and we ordered drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert. We come from the northwest coast, so we obviously had perhaps overly high expectations when it comes to seafood, so it's totally understandable that the seafood we get in a land locked state is not what we'd get back home. Ok, that's a given. Here's the problem, though. The service was awful. I mean absolutely terrible. It was myself and my husband, a good friend from work, our teenage son and our fabulously gay son and his boyfriend. That's just 6 people, but our waitress acted like we had just shown up with a party of at least 20. She took our orders, and promptly forgot the entire order for the teen. He had to re-order whilst the rest of us ate. That was rather sad but he let it slide like the sweet kid he is. Meanwhile, the server visibly cringed when my son and his boyfriend held hands on the table. gasp! I'm not going to go into detail but believe me when i tell you that the service was pretty sparse, and that's being generous. Finally at the end of this awkwardness and we got the check, we saw that there was an 18% "gratuity " added to our bill. For what, exactly? Was it for your server going out of her way to make my family feel uncomfortable and unwelcome at her workplace? If so, then brava! Mission accomplished. This was just sad and rude and unnecessary....
