The Hot Food in the case amazing. Presentation beautiful stuffed breads amazing either by a whole one or by the peace delicious we had stuffed Bread with ricotta and spinach & mozzarella cheese delicious everything I wanted to have a pound of it if I couldn have. It was delightful just to be there and smell the this smells in the Kitchen of everything being cooked what a delight. What a delight being right in front of me the olive oils & all the many kinds of olives behind the glass Looking So- Delious, the fresh cheeses it was just delightful to be in the store beautiful tables just sitting there looking around seeing the custom baskets being made right in front of us it was delightful to have a nice meal there a dinner to go or take something with us which we did we ate some lunch there and then we took something with us.then we came back the following day we got something else as well and we don't live in the area but it was just that nice of a place.The food was Outragious.We had visited the Newly finished upstairs room with Memo the room is beautiful room for any kind of events with Windows all the way around on Park Avenue well worth any event you may have Michael in the staff will accommodate I'm sure very large screen TV on the wall to help accommodate any parties the what time you come dating tables as needed bathroom facilities as well as a refrigerator in the bar area is upstairs as well. Everybody should go there...

My boyfriend and I frequent this place often. They have high quality Italian cold cuts and other meats, cheeses and dishes available behind the counter. They also have a wide variety of imported specialty foods from you to choose from including pastas and sauces. Reason I'm leaving this review though is because tonight I picked up an order I placed on Seamless (a salad) and for whatever reason it wasn't made the way it normally is with arugula and spinach. I called to ask if there was a change because that was the whole reason I order this item (I'm not the biggest fan of romaine). Ended up being a simple oversight due to being busy and the owner (at least I believe it was him) made me a new one and had one of his employees walk it down to my apartment. Bonus? They threw in a handful of Italian cookies. They didn't even have to do all that but he was more than happy to and I could not have appreciated it more. Great place. Great service. They really care about the quality of their products and how their customers are taken care of....

Hi, All I can say is I'm Italian and I've grown up with some of the best home cooked food ever. But Matera is like having family cook for you. We had Filet Mignon with Mozzarella on Ciabatta and let me tell you it immediately jumped to one of three best sandwiches I ever ate. They usually make that Wednesday dont miss it. Today Sunday we had stuffed mushrooms, Rice balls with meat and cheese and eggplant rolatini and egg and potatoes on Ciabatta, OMG was it Great and I wasnt overstuffed it was just right and I'm sure all else is good here I will be trying it all one dish at a time lol And the wonderful people that work here are some of the nicest and kindest and caring you can ever meet.
