This place is amazing and has everything. You can get a sundae, freeze, ice cream sandwich, cup or cones and much much more. I was impressed with the options as well as the quality. The line was long and out the door but they went through the orders really fast.
I only intended on eating a scoop of ice cream but when I saw the freeze, I had to have one. I loved Merlino freeze and couldnt resist the opportunity to compare. A freeze is kind of like a sorbet or flavored ice. I ordered pineapple and vanilla ice cream. This one came with a scoop of ice cream as well. It was delicious and the flavor was what I expected. The ice cream gave it a nice creamy texture but the ice chunks were a little too big for me. I was expecting a more silky smooth ice instead of a fine crushed ice. It was good on a hot summer day though.
The ice cream was scrumptious and it did not disappoint. I got the flavor of the month, which was peanut butter crunch. It had great texture and flavors. Both the ice cream and additives were good. The peanut butter chunks were hard but not rock hard. They would melt in your mouth and not get stuck in your teeth. The ice cream itself had great texture and was as creamy as you could get. It wasnt overly sweet and the crunchy parts that were in the ice cream was a nice surprise. The kid got a mint chip and it was like any other mint chip. Green and chocolatey. Nothing special.
The wife got a banana split sundae and it looked amazing. Lots of ice cream and whipped cream and chocolate syrup all with a cherry on top. It was gone before I knew it and I didnt even get a small spoonful. She had nothing but good things to say but I was unable to try.
The decor is welcoming and it has an old time vibe to it. Be prepared to fight for indoor seating on a hot day because it is limited. There is a lot of outdoor seating available with tables and chairs that you can move to accomodate any size party. However, be prepared to scarf down your cold treats before they melt and drip all over the side walk. It shouldn't be an issue though, since these treats are already delicious and highly desirable. The only thing that kept me from consuming them faster is the frequent ice headaches "brain freeze" when I tried
Edit: This place really gave me a home town feel and was warm and welcoming despite the large crowd that they had to get through. The fact that the owner takes time to reply to people that post reviews shows that they care about their customers. Not everyone can say this these days. I appreciate people who appreciate me. I will continue to go here because they appreciate my...
Read moreThis was my first visit to this ice cream shop today and it seems that it was not meant to be. First, I ordered a one scoop for my daughter and a double scoop for myself. Once the young lady told me the total ($10..not bad) I decided to pay on cash (I didn’t have my debit card because it was reported stolen) and to my surprise they did not have change to return back. I completely understand that most people pay even for a hot dog with a debit card, but I believe that a business should always have cash on their register, even if they don’t get to use it that often, but they should always be prepared in case you get a cash paying customer. That was already my first turn off! So I changed the double scoop to a single one and was able to pay the new total ($8....and mind you I had $9 change, short $1 for the original order). Second, as we waited for our order, another young lady comes to our desk, with the nastiest attitude ever and drops the bag on the table and left! She only gave us one ice cream, we were missing another one. Of course, I explained the situation with the young lady who took my order and when she went inside to tell the nasty lady that I ordered two ice creams instead of one, even with her mask on, I can see the frustration in her eyes. It seems she did not like that fact that I wanted to get what I paid for. Anyways, I got the second ice cream, and despite the bad customer service, the ice cream is very good and the creamy texture just makes you want to eat more. But after this experience, I don’t know if I want to go back...
Read moreThe best Green Tea Ice Cream ever!
I learned about Gunther's Quality Ice Cream through my favorite sushi place in neighboring Elk Grove! For a couple of years, every time we went to the sushi restaurant, I would religiously order their green tea ice cream for desert. Finally one day I asked if they would sell me some to go! Our server politely declined, but told us that we could buy that very same ice cream from Gunther's Quality Ice Cream since the restaurant orders it from there anyway! So next time we were in the area, we went on an ice cream hunting adventure, target ... Gunther's Quality Ice Cream!
