Love this place, the food is real good and the service outstanding. Been coming here over a year and i love everything. Food could be a little more warm when it comes to a seared nigiri's or tempura roll's.
Other than that thanks to Kura team for all the good services you offer. Look for Chardson, he's the best. :)
Chardson is attentive and so friendly
Maria K.Elite 2022 Miami, FL 13119211 11/4/2022 7 photos Overall really great place with unique structure. The restaurant not only has conveyer belt sushi, but conveyer belt private ordering. There's almost no waiters as a robot delivers basic items to your table. You dispose your plates into a chute.
The sushi is well made, beautiful, and flavorful. Each plate is $3, which honestly makes for an affordable dinner once you add it up. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of sushi rolls, hand rolls, and overall food offered.
I would really give this place 4.5 because it's pretty fantastic minus a few things. One, there was 30-45min wait on a Tuesday night. I'm a little confused why so long, because half of the restaurants seating was open and the restaurant doesn't really use waiters. There might be a staffing issue with cooks (?) but I'm hesitant to try to come back here on a weekend when I normally eat out with that kinda wait for a Tuesday.
Secondly, there's only one conveyer belt running. So if you're unfortunately sat at the end of the line, you will get empty plates only. We had only 3-4 plates actually in the conveyer belt system our entire dinner - we ended up ordering each sushi roll on our own. That kinda ruined part of the experience, but that said, we realized some of the plates in the belt are really old and it let us customize what we got. So it ended up fine, but don't expect to be picking plates of the conveyer belt if you're sitting at the end of the belt.

Ana M. Hallandale Beach, FL 4001514 10/7/2022 Such a cool & fun experience!! Everything from the check in, to the ordering (on a touch screen), and the service experience (an electric robot rolls around and brings your drinks after you order on the screen) is super high tech! Our server Iron Gut Julio was fantastic with amazing energy and passion about the restaurant and food! He was also super attentive and gave us helpful tips and recommendations.
You sit next to a revolving sushi bar with many delicious dishes that you can grab as you please. The Golden crunchy roll, Kura Roll, Red Dragon Roll, and Real California Roll were some of my favorites. You can also order a range of hot dishes on the screen which come out super quick. Everything we had was so good!
For dessert we enjoyed the Taiyaki Ice Cream, the mochi, and the donuts. We can't wait to come back and try more dishes

Read moreWhat happened to Kura Sushi Sacramento?
We live about an hour south and come up to Sacramento every once in awhile. We just ate at Kura a couple months ago and it was good, as usual.
But something has changed.
Today, they no longer have the automated check-in via the screen at the front. Now you give your name to someone.
The menu has been reduced to about half the size of what it formerly was, and is both very boring and clearly geared towards the fat American palate, with more fried foods than anything else, and not very many choices of sushi.
What sushi there is, they are now skimping on the rice. Instead of a flat base on the nigiri, I was presented with two teensy balls that just fell apart when I raised it to my mouth.
The "seared" items were actually raw, and not seared at all, and given that nothing seems very fresh anymore, I'm not going near their seared beef.
If all that wasn't bad enough, the tablets that used to sit on the tables to order food, are now secured way up high, above the sushi belt area... so high that you have to crane your neck to try and view it and order.
In addition, the touch screens are too sensitive in some areas and don't respond at all in others. As such, it was either impossible to order, or it ordered things I didn't want, or reverted to the checkout screen randomly. (And I'm in tech for a living, the issue wasn't with me). Fortunately you can also order from your phone, though there seems little point since their menu is now so small.
I'm wondering if they've been having so much theft of their ordering tablets, that they felt they had to secure them to something?
Things didn't seem clean and also seemed not at all geared to "a taste of Japan" anymore, but rather whatever Americans like to eat, which doesn't necessarily relate to Japan at all.
Between the last time we ate here, and now, we have been to Japan (for the 10th time). We ate at Kura Sushi several times while we were there. Choices were extensive and we stuffed ourselves silly, everyone, and never managed to spend more that $22. Here, today, we spent $60, for food that was entirely sub-par.
We won't be returning to this Sacramento location. They should be ashamed of themselves for serving such average food. I know their parent company in...
Read moreI hate writing a bad review. Luckily I don't have to very often. And usually when I go somewhere that ends up being dismal I just chalk it up to experience and move on. I prefer not to focus on negativity.
How this restaurant front stays in business utterly befounds me. Probably because if it's novel moving track that circulates the plates of their quasi-sushi options, as one commonly finds overseas in the Far East. Besides the fact that most of their options lack flavor, what one gets is the smallest sliver ever with an excessive amount of sticky rice. Basically you're eating sticky rice and not what we have in the States as the American version of sushi. The sushi bar at your local food store is vastly better. The two of us were there for lunch and the bill came to $75. No wait staff but a R2D2 Star Wars robot to bring you your drinks and bill. One has the option to have a human coordinate your payment. The ambience is fast food McDonald's with heavy emphasis on plastic in its interior design. I'm sure this place gets good reviews by some people. Those people have no idea what decent sushi is and what it means to have a dining experience. It's more than just the food. And again, their food isn't good.
So my recommendation is to avoid this place like the plague. Oh, one more thing. I'm an American, and we drink coffee. And I needed a cup of coffee. The human hostess told me I could go next door to the coffee shop if I want a cup of coffee and bring it back. Do I need to say more?
Am I coming off as an arrogant American? Maybe this place is just awful. Thank gosh I'm not Japanese. Then my review would have been really scathing. Avoid this place as if Godzilla was coming up the street -no sane person would show up, not even a fool.
I do not like writing bad reviews. Still, this place is so bad I had to say something so other people don't have a similar experience like we did. Again, remember, your local gringo food store sells better sushi. As lunches go, this was the worst dining experience of my life, and I'm 65 years old so I've been around for...
