We are locals who have been wanting to try this spot but were a little trepadatious because of the mixed reviews. We went on a Saturday night around eight and were promptly greeted and sat. We started with the bread and butter, and although I agree that it's silly to pay for bread service I really just liked the bread and olive oil mixture. We aren't the kind of people to take pictures of our food but if you look it up you'll see what I mean. I was disappointed that the bread was obviously not made in house but this is a hotel restaurant. I then had the bibb wedge salad which was delicious with a very generous portion of crisp lardons and a beautifully creamy blue cheese dressing. A wedge salad doesn't sound like a lot but it was actually so substantial that I was quite full after just that. My husband had a Cesar that was topped with a mound of Parmesan shavings and freshly baked croutons. I moved on to the scallops which were perfectly cooked and served with a corn maux choux. It was positively delicious and kept me going back for another bite long after I was thoroughly stuffed. My husband had the strip steak which was also perfectly cooked, beautifully tender and served with the creamed spinach with goat cheese. The most exciting thing on his plate for me was the round of roasted bone marrow dotted with a few sprigs of thyme that made for a awesomely slurpable bite. We finished with the salted caramel cheesecake which was the only thing that I would say was just so so but I am not a cheesecake person. The husband who had a cheesecake craving said it hit the spot. I felt compelled to write this review as I feel this place has not been given a fair shake by a lot of it's reviewers, especially locals. All in all we had a delicious meal with very good service. I will caveat that with the fact that the restaurant was very sparsely populated. If they have a busy night it might be that they have a challenge with service. I would put this place on par with a J.Alexander's, fresh well done American in a beautiful setting that for me, justified the price point. Would recommend, and will likely return next time I want a nice night...
Read moreNice location and the hotel is pretty, but they are having some serious issues.
They will argue with you if you call and ask for more bath towels. They don’t have regular house keeping so, you call for towels.
The man comes up and asks us if we are checking out early. No, why? He proceeds to then ask why we would need new towels. That we should use what we have until we leave. For $600 a night? You can let us have clean towels!
My youngest got sick and threw up on the carpet. We called immediately after it happened to ask for cleaning supplies or if someone can clean it. We offered to do it. It took them 7 calls and 6 hours to finally come up and clean.
The front desk guy that checked us in was helpful. 2 out of 4 valets were nice. The others ones make a growling noise at you lol.
No bellman to help you up. Which is fine but, they won’t even help direct you to where to get a luggage trolley. Definitely hard to look with kids in tow and you’ve never been to this hotel before.
Bar is nice. Restaurant isn’t too bad. I would recommend eating there.
They just started to allow dogs to stay. Which is great except when you have dogs barking all night long. They don’t take those complaints if you call. They already told us that barking dogs will occur. Even at 2...
Read moreGood food. We ate here twice. One for dinner and once for the free breakfast. For dinner, the filet was great but we did ask for it to be cooked a little longer because it was mid rare versus mid well. The side dish of potato’s was just okay so you may want to ask to substitute for one of the other sides. The salads were great. Good wine selection. The break buffet was not very good so I suggest skipping that except for bacon and head straight to the grill for an omelette or fried eggs. They also have great oatmeal, breads, fruit, yogurt and cereals. They have many juices and sift drinks. They have a coffee bar but it’s industrial requiring cream and sugar. Some guests were avoid the coffee bar that came free with breakfast and paying for latte’s at the Starbucks next to the restaurant. Service was great and all the people are nice. The location right on property was convenient. I especially liked them not automatically adding a tip to everything allowing me to decide...
