This was my second time visiting. The 1st time the donuts were fine. Not fantastic but ok. Today they are not good. It was a little bit after 8:00 am on Sunday. Although they had a lot of donuts ( I ordered one of each), most of them are dry & don't taste fresh. The ones that are fresh don't taste good. About the service: Not good. I had the feeling they dislike my accent but we will not talk about xenofobia here. I made an order without setting quantity or price limit. I got distracted while I was standing in front of the counter waiting to pay...there was not a line, a couple stopped by my side and made their order as well. I accidentally pressed the tip amount in the machine when they were paying because for a second thought it was my order being charged, once I was there first & the girl taking care of my order closed it at the same time as they were standing by my side. Short story: I was distracted, thought it was my turn to pay, clicked the machine to tip $3 in the couple's card. I felt so embarrassed that I apologized a million times, the couple laughted and were fine with. However, the man behind the counter gave me such a dirty look after yelling at me...then he kept staring at me like I commited a crime. Turned his back to me. OmG! I felt so uncomfortable! In another situation I would have said "please cancel the transaction so I will pay their order and mine", as I have done several times in my life in a kindness gesture. But that man just made me feel so horrible! So the couple went to sit, I paid a small fortune for my order (they are pricey) and the donuts are not even good. I tipped very well as I always do everywhere I go & left the place feeling like I tried to rob them at gunpoint while I was just making sure to tip the girl who took my order. Never ever visiting again. Bad donuts, bad service, bad space with a overwhelming mess behind...
Read moreI've never been here before thought I would try it out. Told the guy I wanted a dozen, I was getting 3, 3, 3 when I got to 9 he says that is 10 you only get two more I said no that 9 I get 3 more he only allowed me 11 and charged me for a dozen shoved box to me half open. I paid and turned to leave he starts yelling bye I guess you will pay me next time. With place full of people. He was a jerk. I never turned to acknowledge him. Sorry I went in to get donuts I'm not tipping. I tip at restaurants. That is first and last time I will ever go there. I will make sure that everyone I know they should never try that place. Midtown donuts taste better...
Read moreI am a lover of donuts, as evidenced by my ample bottom. And I have tried donut shops all over the St. Louis metro area. I have no use for Krispy Kreme, Dunkin is ok, Old Town Donuts has been my fav. I am particularly fond of the blueberry cake donut. Today, we went to Donut King: long John, glazed, key lime pie filled, and blueberry cake. The long John was great, the glazed was fabulous, the key lime pie hit nail on the head it was so good but the blueberry cake donut. Holy hell. That was the best one I've ever had in my 40+ years of eating donuts. And since all the others we tried were ah-mazing too, I'm a convert. Donut King for all the rest of my donut...
