Johnny Z's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Saint Clair Shores

Food is always great. I recommend ALWAYS getting delivery. Delivery driver is probably the only person who works there that has any customer service experience.

We went yesterday to pick up our order (order a 100 times, but only my second time doing pick up). I got dropped off close to the door because I had a pretty larger order, about $115 worth of food. The girl at the counter was on the phone, while other lines were ringing, probably 5 people standing in the back not helping her. Another girl came up and asked if I was parked on the side of the building... I said yes, she the explained that I wasn't allowed to park there. Okay, I'm just grabbing my order. She then told me I had to move before she would give me the pizza. I went out got the truck moved. The girl never came back to help. Finally the other girl got off the phone and helped us. Parking was mentioned and a little irritated we mentioned that there wasn't a no parking sign so we didn't know. The girl then said we'll there used to be a sign there. I said well there isn't now. She says oh I remember your faces. Well 1. There is no way she remembered our faces. I have only been there for pick up twice in 10 years. 2. There isn't a sign. They should have one posted if they do not want customers to park there. 3. The rude girl from the back that told me I had to move my car before she would give me my pizza. Was obviously out of line. Disrespectful teenage kid. And what she should have said... how can I help you, helped me with my order and then made me aware there was no parking on the side of the building in the parking spots for next time.

Unfortunately we probably will not order again. Pickup or delivery. Customer service is awful. However...

The girlfriend and I are relatively new to the area and would consider ourselves "pizza connoisseurs" so we were looking for the best Detroit style pizza around. So far we've had the staple, Jets, cloverleaf, and this weekend decided to try Johnny Z's. I have to say it was definitely good, not as amazing as the Yelp reviews would have you believe, but still really good. The crust was comparable to Jets, pretty thick, a little doughy, with a good crunch on the outside. I think I still prefer the lighter, more airy crust from cloverleaf personally. We ordered a meatlovers and the toppings were definitely plentiful. The italian sausage was a little overcooked and really salty but the rest of the toppings and cheese were great. We got the regular bread sticks which were also good but not amazing, a lot like oversized crazy bread, and we love crazy bread. We tend to judge pizza places based on a number of criteria and one important one is their ranch. I have to say, Johnny Z's ranch is definitely up there amongst the top. It was delicious, not too thick but not too watery and complimented both the pizza and bread sticks beautifully. We'll definitely give Johnny Z's another go as soon as we test out s few other places in the area.

Lastly, the service was good, pizza was done quickly, and the prices were great, cheaper than Jets actually for a small deep dish and small order of bread sticks.

In short, I would recommend, good pizza, good service, good prices,...

Avoid this location!!! Terrible square pizza

This is the uncooked pizza I purchased below the toppings. It’s not cheese you see in the pic that’s the actual dough. This is the dough that is not cooked when biting into it. It was like a wet mat of salt when I tried to call back to explain the pizza that I asked to be well, done was not cooked in the top was completely doughy. Nobody answered or picked up.

The following morning today at 11 AM I called and a gentleman claiming to be the owner picked up. Arrogantly wouldn’t even listen to the Problem took a very arrogant posture towards me, trying to explain the situation obviously I have the pizza still because taking one bite out of it. It was so horrible. I couldn’t imagine swallowing it. Peeling back the cheese we discovered the pizza wasn’t even cooked.

It’s a 35 minute round-trip for me to drive to this pizza location from my home instead of offering to have a new one delivered pick up the old pizza … Owner just began barking at me on the phone very arrogantly instead of concerned about addressing the issue as if it was my fault they don’t cook their pizza that specifically requested “well done”

We still have every single slice in the box and couldn’t eat it because it was so horrible biting into it. Everyone spit it back out.
