I usually don’t come to a business page to leave a bad review, but after coming here this past weekend and having a subpar experience, I will elaborate in hopes of the managers/owners learning and trying to do better in the future.
We arrived (party of 3) and were told it would be a 45 min wait…which is not odd in St. George on a Friday night at 5pm. However, when being brought back to our table we noticed that the restaurant was relatively empty for a Friday night. The tables next to us were empty and there were MANY open tables throughout the main dining room. The area closest to the bar seems slightly more busy, but not “45 minute wait” kind of busy.
Menu was small and concise and had many options for appetizers. The only delicious thing we ordered was the sliders appetizer with the beer flight tasting. The item is supposed to have three different sandwiches, but they were out of the pulled pork so we subbed for an extra bacon burger. They were also unable to give us one of the correct beers because the waitress explained to us that the tap for said beer is only pouring foam. One of the beers was overly “hoppy” and unable to be tolerated by anyone in our party.
My boyfriend ordered a BBQ bacon burger. There was no BBQ sauce on the burger which was one of the main reasons he even ordered it. The menu says it comes with pickles on the side. They forgot those as well. The burger was lukewarm at best. He also ordered the option of Cajun fries BUT was served regular fries in a large bowl that was only 1/3 full and way too big for the plate where the rest of the food was on…it was just very odd plating.
I ordered the salmon ($36…ridiculous!) with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. The asparagus was undercooked and the potatoes were extremely runny and did not coagulate…they almost looked like cream of wheat or grits…and additionally they were served in a large out-of-place cereal bowl on top of the plate with my other food items. It was just very odd.
My mother ordered a chicken Caesar salad. The chicken felt like it came from subway or a premade salad you’d order at gas station deli…cold and rubbery. But at least they got her request of “dressing on the side” correct. She was still disappointed to say the least.
Additionally our server never came back after serving our meals to see how we were doing. We looked around multiple times to see if she was near by. She did have some other tables that we noticed but she would run back to the kitchen after serving them to never be seen again (at least for a little while). Staff was kind but obviously not trained properly yet.
This place is definitely overpriced for the quality (or lack there of) of food. This is not NYC or California…but you wouldn’t know by the prices!
I would honestly not come back. There are other places in town with a better overall experience, more reasonable prices, more attentive staff, and better...
Read moreMy wife and I went for a quick date night before a movie. I guess say I wasn't impressed. While there was nothing "wrong" with our food and it was perfectly edible, it did not justify the prices.
We had the fish and chips. It was three very small pieces of fish with an average sized side of fries. The fries were the best thing on the plate, as the fish was bland. We also had a Southwest salad which was ok, but certainly overpriced and nothing impressive. I want to clarify that I understand that everything has gotten more expensive the last few years. I'm saying it was high priced even compared to comparable food at other restaurants now. Others have said the portions were generous, but that was not our experience. The portions were adequate. We didn't think they needed to be larger to be enough for a person, but for the prices charged, they should have been larger, or else the prices should have been probably 10-20% lower ur competitive. I got the feeling we were paying a premium to pay for the obviously expensive brand new building.
I had also heard great things about the Mac and cheese, so we ordered that on the side. The waitress brought it out 20 minutes after our salad and fish, because apparently the noodles weren't done. I've made noodles many times and one cup of noodles has never taken 20 minutes to cook for me. The cheese sauce was very thin and had almost no flavor. There was one little sprinkling of some spices on top. There was really nothing impressive about the Mac and cheese. Save your money.
As far as the service, the waitress was friendly, but it was a Tuesday night so it wasn't just at all. For ordering fish and chips, a salad, and some Mac and cheese, the service seemed slow. As I said, we got our fish and salad in a reasonable amount of time, but 20 minutes longer for a small portion of Mac and cheese. The waitress never did check on us or offer a drink refill as we watched other tables get their food much faster than we did.
I would just reiterate, there really was nothing horrible about the experience, but also nothing to wow us or...
Read moreI’ve been waiting for this place to open for a year and finally made it there today. I have to say I was quite a bit disappointed. I think the vibe and the atmosphere is terrific. It’s exactly the type of place we need in STG however, there were several things that need improvement
Acoustics - to fit vibe you need something besides crowd noise. Play some music or turn up the TV volume. The music was on for about 10 mins then back to crowd chatter for another hour.
Television - I visited on a Saturday afternoon and they had women’s WWE wrestling on! No golf. No basketball. No baseball. No football. I realize it’s not a sports bar but WWE? Seriously
Beer - I tried two different beers and both were too hoppy for my taste. I’m not a picky beer drinker but I didn’t enjoy either.
Portions - why serve a such small portion of fries in a large bowl that’s appears to be 2/3 empty?
Lacking management oversight- I didn’t see anyone in the building that seemed to care about the customer experience. Only servers and bartenders.
Taste - we had the burger and the salmon. Both were just OK. Nothing special at all. At $18 and $36 respectively, they are overpriced and underwhelming. Considering I can get a delicious Filet at Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn for about $26, your prices seem out of line.
Service - our server had to come back and retake our order a second time form some reason. Our food was slow to arrive (about 25 minutes) and the server completely lacked personality. He took our order, served our food and couldn’t be bothered to engage with us in any way.
And lastly, why is there a 3’ wide canyon filled with lava rock in the middle of the Parking lot? Is that supposed to be a sobriety test before you drive home? I see a lot of people face planting on the way to their car in the dark.
I really hope you take this feedback to heart and consider some improvements. I will definitely be back to give you guys another chance. I can see my wife and I spending a lot time here if you guys can work...
