On Father's Day we decided to have lunch at Clementine's Too in St Joe. We walked in and we're greeted by a friendly hostess. I asked her if we could be seated outside and she said there was no way to put my request in the system but she would keep my request in mind. As we waited my husband and I went to the bar and had a delicious bloody mary which was served by a very pleasant bartender. Now for the rest of the story...After an acceptable amount of time I received a text that our table was ready. Another hostesses guided us to our indoor table, placed our menus on the table and quickly walked away. We didn't have a chance to ask about outdoor seating (There were plenty of empty outdoor tables). But okay, it was hot and we thought we would let this ride and enjoy the cool ac. We ordered onion rings that were a 10/10. My husband ordered their daily specials which was Cajun pasta. He said it was good but did not taste like a Cajun dish. He said it tasted more like stroganoff. I ordered the perch sandwich. Now, whatever you do, no matter how much you love or crave perch or fish sandwiches, do not order this. I was served a lettuce sandwich with 4 of the smallest, overdone, dry fish. The pieces were no bigger than the tines on my fork. It was 100% the worst fish sandwich I have ever eaten. I took one bite and there was literally no fish in that bite. My husband encouraged me to say something to the waitress but by the time she returned to ask how we were enjoying our meal, I already ate 2 of my fish nuggets. But wait, there's more! Upon leaving my husband used the restroom. I waited near the hostess stand. A different hostess was talking to a group that just entered the restaurant. She asked them would you like indoor or outdoor seating then seemed to make a note on the tablet she was using. This experience was unfortunate as we enjoyed Clementine's in South Haven many times. We won't be returning as there are many outstanding...
Read moreFirst, there was a short wait for a table for two. That's not a problem, it was only ten minutes and we didn't mind. I checked out their menu on Google and saw they had some good sounding food and, what I would consider very good prices. Those google menu prices are NOT updated and the difference is multiple dollars per item for current prices.
Oh well, we can afford it, the wife and I were having a little date day. We get appetizers, the onion rings and mushroom basket. Wow, those were good. Needed a little salt, but they were hot and crispy.
We ordered our entrees eager to taste them since the appetizers were delicious. She got the High Roller, I got the High-Noon cooked medium. There was a bit of a wait, something about big table orders. We had appetizers, so not too much of a worry, I think it was about twenty minutes.
Finally our food comes out, looks good, smells good... and that's about it. My burger was cooked well-done and chewed like shoe leather. It was dryer than a mouth full of sand, I nearly choked on the first bite. And the honey mustard was definitely not honey mustard. It was extremely disappointing, I had to resort to putting ketchup on what should have otherwise been a good burger. If you use pretzel buns for burgers, you need them juicy and you need a sauce, not bad honey mustard.
My wife's High Roller was also dry and overcooked. The au jus that came with it was watery and had almost no flavor, she resorted to dipping it in ranch and decided to only eat half. At least our fries were good with a little salt.
I really wanted to enjoy it, especially when the appetizers were so good, but our actual meals were sub-par, especially for the 51 dollars it cost us. If you take anything away from this review, the service was above average, the appetizers were great, the meals were way below average and the bill was way too much. I also wasn't a big fan of the folks behind us who were yell-talking, but the restaurant...
Read moreHow this place has over 4 stars truly blows my mind. I guess the people that typically eat here don’t have a very high standard for food or dining experiences. Quite literally everything about our visit today was mediocre at best, and truly bad at worst.
To start, not even everybody at our table was given water even when they asked. My husband had to ask two separate times for a glass of water and finally got it after 10-15 mins of waiting. The onion rings were the best part of the meal but still left a lot to be desired. My husband and I got the soup of the day, which was a cheddar/potato/steak soup. The broth was fine, but the meat in it was VERY questionable and almost every piece was rubbery. Almost everybody in our group had complaints about the food. Fish wasn’t cooked that well, the au jou was wayyyy too salty, the fries tasted like something you’d get out of the freezer section at Walmart. They forgot the dill sauce on my brother in laws fish sandwich.
Aside from the food, the atmosphere was not good. Our waitress was incredibly awkward and seemed to conveniently forget to give us our change (paid $20 on a $10 bill and had to ask for the change back after she brought back everybody else’s bills but ours).
I could continue but honestly it’s not worth the energy. We will certainly never be returning, it’s a miracle they’re even still open if our experience today is a reflection of how things normally go there. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this restaurant, certainly there are better options in the area. Don’t bother wasting your time...
