The Copper Pot Breakfast Café is a fantastic breakfast spot in downtown St. Joseph, Michigan with elevated breakfast fare. We also like their outdoor seating. If there is a line, be patient…they are very efficient and it’s worth it. One of the unique features of The Copper Pot is their coffee/espresso bar which also has alcohol options. As I sipped on an Espresso Martini, I was taken with its smoothness. The Barista explained that the smoothness and rich flavors come as a result of cold brewing espresso beans, resulting in a drink that is less acidic and bitter compared to traditional hot espresso. The three espresso beans floating on top symbolize health, wealth and happiness. I also noticed the cocktail menu read MIMOSA FUR-THE-TABLE - a carafe of OJ, a bottle of prosecco and miniature frozen OJ paws at the bottom of each glass. The owners contribute $5 to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan for every Mimosa Fur-The-Table ordered. If you are an Eggs Benedict fan, The Copper Pot has eight “Benny’s” to choose. We sampled the Eggs Florentine which had rustic, country toast as the base instead of a traditional English muffin. Piled high was sauteed spinach, avocado, sun-dried tomato, and poached eggs, bathed in a delightful scratch-made hollandaise sauce. The exquisitely balanced hollandaise presented slightly sweet undertones and the tangy acidity of the sundried tomatoes made this dish “pop.” We watched as pancakes, French toast and waffles paraded from the kitchen to other tables, and all looked visually appealing. We split the Copper Pot Waffle, which was golden brown, crowned with lemon confit and served with house-made amaretto syrup. The delicate aroma of freshly cooked batter tantalized the senses, inviting anticipation with each bite. The waffle held a decadent, buttery taste complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, almond, and, of course, lemon. These flavors complemented the subtle sweetness of the cake but didn’t overpower. You can add little bites of the lemon confit to boost the intensity. I could do another review on the house-made amaretto syrup. My wife is not much of a drinker, but she adored this syrup, which unquestionably elevates the waffle experience with its wow-factor. This is a 21+ dish. The Breakfast BLT is a massive sandwich consisting of jumbo slices of rustic bread enveloping two eggs, thick bacon, roasted tomato, arugula, and horseradish mayo. Initially uncertain about horseradish mayo on a breakfast sandwich, I found it to be pleasantly subtle yet undeniably superb. The bacon was on point…thick, meaty, salt and smoke balanced, and cooked to crispy perfection. Roasting the tomato and utilizing the peppery taste of arugula were brilliant culinary choices. This champion is served with The Copper Pot’s famous Morning Potatoes. The cubed redskins were tender yet slightly firm in texture, with a golden-brown exterior that offers a satisfying crunch. Each bite revealed a velvety interior, infused with savory flavors from the seasoning.

Food: 3/5 (food is in-between good and okay). Service: 4/5 (I love the hospitality!) Atmosphere: 5/5 (beautiful venue! Lovely restaurant!) Great experience at The Copper Pot Breakfast Cafe! When I found out that there was a new breakfast spot in town, I had to meet her! Located in Saint Joseph, Michigan, The Copper Pot Breakfast Cafe serves early risers out of the 221 Restaurant. What a solid restaurant to enjoy. The food is in between good and okay. I ordered the Eggs Flourentine (rustic country toast, sautéed spinach, avocado, sundried tomatoes, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce). The taste was pretty good. However, for the hollandaise sauce, I'm used to a smooth, rich, buttery taste and texture, but I received a consistency of cheese wiz; the spinach didn't appear sautéed. I also got the side sausage (pretty okay). Overall, it was a solid dish, but fell in between good and okay. The service was great! The hospitality was wonderful! The restaurant was busy on a Saturday morning, but the staff was very nice. I love seating of the restaurant and the staff keeps it clean. The atmosphere is beautiful! I love the decor and the inviting feel. This restaurant is classy, and the pricing is moderate. Very beautiful venue! Overall, The Cooper Pot Breakfast Cafe is good. I would love to try other menu items to get a better feel for the restaurant. Great place!

Just left the copper pot, but im already making a plan for returning and what I'll try next! Mandy was our server and if the kitchen is going to fill your stomach, mandy will fill your proverbial bucket with great energy and positivity. We got to eat outside in the comfortable pleasant street district. If you are disabled be aware theres a couple steps to navigate the space (curb height, it used to be a parking lot, so there are likely curb cuts i wasn't looking for.) The food was also exceptional. The hollandaise was perfectly lemony with a touch of cayenne, and the eggs just barely poached- perfect. But the real star of the classic eggs Benedict was incredibly thick and flavorful Canadian bacon. I also added the breakfast potatoes on Mandy's recommendation, and now I recommend you get them too. Also the hot chocolate was the creamiest I've had- definitely not just swiss miss!

Responding to Copper Pot incorrect response. Evidently this is why I had no food because Issue #1 I did not order a french toast combo i ordered ala carte the 2 french toast and 1 scrambled cheese egg & when the order came out it was the other female food she ordered combo for her and her child with extras so everything that came out was for the other guest & her child I had no food delivered to me & waitress said I don't know what happened in the back. The other person and her child started eating their food that she ordered while I waited another 15-20 min for my order to come out & of course when my food finally came out 15-20min later I spreaded butter and poured syrup on french toast and took 1 bite & discovered my french toast was gooey & politely brought to waitress attention and she apologized & took food back. You're correct french toast should take 4-5min but it took 15-20min to get 2 pieces of french toast & 1 scrambled cheese egg I sat there patiently waiting. (View some of your other reviews people complained about how long it takes for food to come out) When waiter came out with next batch of french toast she said does this look fine and since the outer edges were very dark I said this should be fine but low & behold putting butter/syrup on and took 1 bite same it was gooey & showed to waitress again. Your waitress replied that a cook was training in back so I didn't just magically make this up take that up with your staff. I have came to your restaurant a few other times and always order the same thing so how dare you no I wasn't having a bad day don't try and turn your poor service around on me but not suprised my skin is darker so guess I'm the angry black woman huh? We chose your establishment to dine at & your service was poor point blank. The manager had approached tables all around us asking them how everything was & after my food had been taken back 2x don't you think a manager should have visited our table I shouldn't had to ask to speak to one. Yes, the 1 egg that was brought to me stayed at the table and the child ate but at this point my $4.00 hot chocolate and $1.75 for the 1 egg should have been waived you didn't do me a favor by taking off the french toast because I was never able to eat an order of french toast since it wasn't cooked properly. Now you want to make it seem as if I got loud but no your manager was unprofessional & loud I was still calm because I don't allow unprofessional staff to ruin my day & you don't have to ban me from your establishment it will be my pleasure to never come back & I will give my $$$ to other professional restaurants in our area. The other guest in my party did not apologize so stop with the lies because she nor I did anything wrong your waitress kept apologizing & we advised her it wasn't her fault she was great & no one ever yelled at her so don't fluff your story. Another correction also the other party paid for her entire order and tipped the waitress because again her order was correct and she happily paid for her bill & tipped the great waitress we had the only person that was very unprofessional was the manager he loudly said what do you want me to comp the entire table & why would you think that no one ever asked mgr to comp the entire table so poor thinking on his part. We arrived at your restaurant arnd 1020am & after all of this it was close to noon so yea 90min as I stated & believe me I know because I had to go somewhere else and order something to eat. Speak the truth & I wish...

I have never gone through with writing a review, but as a ex-server myself in the coffee business and restaurant business I hold a high expectation but I give patience when it’s necessary. When we arrived and for most of our time there, the place was not packed so there was no reason to have such awful service. If I could have given a zero star I would have.

Firstly, yes the food is good. Well seasoned to not feel too salty or too sweet/fatty so you can comfortably walk after indulging.

However the service was awful. Started with a phone call where I asked if there was a wait time and when I got the answer there wasn’t, instead of a friendly mutual goodbye I got hung up on by what I assumed was the manager(m)

Next, our server-I’ll call her out, the one with the “e-girl” bleached front pieces with black hair. Was she bartending or was she a waitress. She spent so much time behind the bar and when our coffee cups were empty and NO WATER was ever given to us I still could not get her attention. When she passed back with 5 checks ready to be handed she didn’t stop at the table to check on us when she was next to us or after she handed off the rest of the checks. Then I hear the manager I’m assuming trying to get her attention over the walkie system to service us, but a different waitress came to give us coffee…I expressed the frustration to her about lack of seeing our server/people around us were getting there food and we had a one year old getting hangry and she just said “oh ok I’ll see what’s up”.

Still no sign of our server, manager guy delivers our food, no sense of apologies for our wait/poor service, says he’ll be back with syrup for our French toast and a share plate we asked for and NOPE no return.

Manager guy cared more about getting people in at a table and filling the restaurant instead of how dinners were being treated, clearly.

Some other server-4th person now of contact, not our original waitress, has given us a separate plate we asked for.

Finally when we are finishing up eating does our designated waitress come to CHECK ON us. As if she was any help. I asked for the check only, which she somewhat eagerly and readily plopped down on the table, told her to not going anywhere cause card would be good to go in a min.

Then comes manager just clearing our plates quickly, somewhat aggressively, again to just get people in v making customers feel welcome.

I have never gone through with writing a review, but as a ex-server myself in the coffee business and restaurant business I hold a high expectation but I give patience when it’s necessary.
