Ok... Here goes. What can I say about Tommie's Pizza--PLENTY! First of all, I'm originally from New York and I am always looking for that signature NY style slice, so when I looked at the list of pizza places that were close to me and I saw "Tommie's Pizza", I instantly had to try it. My expectations were blown away after a chat I had with the owner, Tommie. We talked pizza and the value of a good crust... Tommie's quote, "the crust holds everything on the pizza up, so it's gotta be good." Indeed it is Tommie! We talked about how New Yorkers assume that when you have pizza, you're having wings... yep, Tommie generously brought me out some wings to try (sauce of his choice)... damn Tommie! They were some of the best wings I've ever eaten. I mean just look at the two pictures. When Tommie set that pie (that's what a New Yorker calls a pizza) down in front of me, I snatched a bite off a slice before I took the pic. So good!
If you're looking for a whole pie, a personal pie, a giant pie or a single slice of heaven, search no further. Stop in a grab a slice and DO NOT forget the wings! You will NOT be dissapointed. Tommie's was voted the 3rd BEST slice in the entire NATION in 2021 -- there is a reason for that. MPR did an interview with Tommie in August of 2023 and they raved about it... and YOU will also.
Tommie's is family owned and completely operated by his family. I wish I was family so I could work with Tommie and his kids... but what I can do is take the 65 mile trip from central MN to Tommie's every now and then to say hi to an incredible person and to enjoy the mastery he cooks into every crust and marinades on every wing.
Hats off the one of the very best pizza pies and wings I've ever sunk my teeth in!
Tommie, if you're reading this... you've made a patron of your pizza pie factory for...
Read moreI ordered Tommie’s Pizza’s The Selby Pizza through GrubHub initially and then DoorDash. GrubHub must have their hours inputted incorrectly and Tommie’s Pizza may want to attend to this, because I had issues getting my order to work through them. They automatically cancel orders at and after 5:02 PM. I finally managed to get an order with them through DoorDash. I’d recommend to stay away from GrubHub until this is sorted out. I had my pizza scheduled to be delivered at 5:00 PM well in advance and they apparently had the order ready, but GrubHub’s system for some reason closes Tommie’s Pizza at 5:02 PM per my conversation with their customer support. Pretty frustrating! I hope nobody has the same problem I had above.
Now, finally to their food! Their pizza is solid! It has a nice crust and I love the tomato chunks. I only wish they added more sauerkraut to the pizza. Their pizza is good, I’m not sure it’s at a 5 star rating quite yet. I am interested in knowing more about the amount of 5 star ratings this establishment has. It’s an outstanding accomplishment to achieve to say the least! I want to try their wings next, they look extremely delicious!
Their wait times are pretty incredible, I’d imagine it’s because they’re extremely busy with their short timeframe to place an order with them. I managed to finally get my pizza 10 minutes before...
Read moreAs a person with Italian heritage and a dedicated pizza lover, please understand me when I say this pizza is incredible and some of the best there is!
Whether you like authentic original Italian (paper thin), Chicago deep dish, Detroit style or anything in between - your palate is in for a treat! The flavors and seasonings in their sauce is the most savory and perfectly made. We love the buttery crust and the New York style brought to the twin cities. We appreciate the obvious love and thought put into these pizza pies! I’m not necessarily a pizza snob, but I’m also certainly not easy to impress. This is hands down my favorite pizza in the state and Midwest. Wings are also near perfection. We love all the pizzas but our favorite is still cheese (because it’s simple and hard for many places to make a good cheese pizza).
Depending on the the time of day you come, you may be waiting a little longer then expected and it will be worth it!! Don’t let this bother you, it’s a small owned spot and they are freshly preparing your pie !!! Parking can also be difficult but that’s just the area, so just be prepared it’s a busy area with limited street parking.
The service is always professional, friendly and it appears to be family owned. Black owned if I’m not mistaken, double win if you ask me. Highly...
