I adore everything about Bandit, and I have for a long time. I’m always greeted kindly. It’s a beautiful space to sit down if you have time, or to just drop in, get what you want, and be on your way. There’s ample parking and accessible street parking, which I feel is extremely convenient.
I think one thing that truly sets them apart is the consistency and quality. I know exactly what to expect every time because they have everything tuned so precisely. No matter who is making my espresso that day, it’s going to taste just right. I am not super educated on coffee, but I feel like that’s pretty rare and not easily achieved. They have a great staff retention, and I see many of the same faces year after year, which speaks to ownership and management.
And the pastries, oh pastries! They turned me into a scone girlie. I’ve never had anything here that I did not absolutely enjoy. Breakfast here also absolutely crushes. I do feel I need to explore the menu a little more, as there are quite a few offerings I have not tried yet.
My usual drink order is an iced cappuccino — I love the way they make it. I also really enjoy getting a chai latte with mocha. I gotta say too, I’m a stan for their seasonal drink specials. Their small batch runs are always well thought out and balanced. I always look forward to the unique things they do. The most recent brown butter latte was one of those things that just checked all the boxes. The strawberry cheesecake latte they make around Valentine’s Day is also super special. Every moment deserves to be celebrated, and Bandit really is a place where folks can do just that.
They do tend to get busy on the weekend, which is just another testament to how much they are loved by our community. If you see a line, do not fret — it tends to move quickly. They are efficient, and a short wait will definitely...
Read moreHands down the best coffee in St Petersburg!! We have been going to Bandit since they opened and I’m not sure why I’ve never written a review, but here we go.
Let’s start with the coffee, which is roasted in-house and super delicious! Depending on my mood I get the Kyoto drip cold brew, an espresso, or one of the seasonal lattes. The eggnog latte in December is absolute perfection. I didn’t think I could like a latte more and then they introduced their fall seasonal Maple Bourbon latte and it’s so close! The coffee is worth every penny and alway made with love.
Next, the staff... they are fantastic! I always feel welcome and they are happy to make suggestions if you’re unsure what you want and they do it all with a smile and friendly face no matter how busy they are. I placed an online order last weekend and one item was missing (first time in years that has happened!). I went back, they gave me the item AND refunded me for the I convenience. I was happy to pay for it, but they insisted.
Finally, the food! I was happy when Bandit started offering house made bites. Everything I have ordered so far, from regulars to specials, has been cooked to perfection and full of flavor. My favorite will always be the bacon, egg and cheese sammie though. The creamy chive eggs are just amazing.
Bandit gets busy and in these uncertain times they have put their customers and staff first by keeping the dining room closed, which I appreciate. They do have outdoor seating and the online ordering option is your best bet right now. It so easy and you even get alerted when your order is ready. Please go out and support this small,...
Read moreBandit is fantastic, and I’m definitely not alone in that thinking as evidenced by the line out the door every time I go.
The food is excellent, the menu is fun and feels familiar while being creative all at the same time. It’s the perfect execution of each ingredients coming together that sets it apart from just about anything else you can get for breakfast in St. Pete, and far, far beyond.
You can tell everything they do, they do with intention. Their Chorizo breakfast burrito isn’t just haphazardly thrown together like I’ve had so many times in my life. It’s perfectly balanced between spice and savory, texturally diverse with beans, caramelized onions, and potatoes. Then cut in half to expose the innards, and seared to a crisp for the perfect crunch to the bite. And served along side house made hot sauces that are worth of their own paragraph in a review.
Don’t get too lost in the hot food options to overlook a pastry. They are excellent, we almost always get on to share with everyone.
I’m not sure how to classify bandit. Is it a coffeehouse that serves shockingly good food? Or it is a restaurant that also happens to sling some of the best coffee around? I don’t know the answer… but you should check it out and try to figure that out...
