Yikes... thank goodness I'm not a super strict vegetarian - or else today would've been a horrible catastrophe.
Ahhh, it painnnns me to write this review. I absolutely love their food, their staff is the sweetest, and they were absolutely swamped today. However, when I made my order, I was very clear in specifying I wanted PANEER, cheese, tikka masala. I even said cheese after paneer, so they would know which tikka masala naanwich I wanted.
They were really trying to push several orders out; mine was takeout and I was running late to class so I received my bag from the cashier and dropped it off quickly before heading to class, to eat afterwards.
I just opened it and I could see and smell the deliciousness of the tikka masala sauce, immediately took a bite and...it was CHICKEN 😱😱😱 For a moment I thought maybe I'm just really really tired, took another bite and then, a closer look at the wrap...mannnnn, it is NOT paneer (Indian cheese)! It's chicken tikka masala!
I rarely ever eat chicken now, so I'm in shock.
By now though, they're already closed for the day and I wasn't going to be mean and call the credit card company to ask to refund the charge. They're local, I love them. BUT I must write this review, because if I were a very strict vegetarian, this could have had some serious implications. Even by taking off the tape, opening and peeking into the box, you wouldn't be able to tell that it was chicken instead of paneer cheese - I had to bite and really inspect to realize...
Perhaps including copies of the order receipt inside the bag could help identify what an order contains? I didn't even come to the counter to pick it up -- when my order was ready, the kind lady at the register personally walked up to me directly at the table I was waiting at and gave me the bag with this order (so no, I didn't accidentally grab someone else's order).
I will give Twisted Indian another chance, but will now have to be even more careful and really dig/touch the naanwich (and potentially touch somebody else's food..?!) next time I go order takeout. I hope I don't get sick as I haven't had this much chicken in a while (and I'm starving and can't bring myself to throw this much food to the...
Read moreI have been wanting to try Twisted Indian for over a year now, all the way back when they were just a food truck - and finally decided to go there for dinner. Indian is by far one of my favorite kinds of foods, so I was very excited to see an Indian fusion restaurant pop-up in the bay.
I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Twisted Indian. This restaurant is a fast/casual dining experience compared to a more fancy sit down restaurant - the interior is well decorated, if not a little bare-boned. Given that this isn’t a full-blown restaurant, the accents were well placed and definitely more than you would expect from other restaurants like this. You do order at the counter, and in my case the woman brought our food to our table.
The food was amazing, I got the Chicken Tikka Currito, and my partner got the Chicken Tikka bowl - with the Garlic Naan to share. I have absolutely no complaints about the food - it was beyond my expectation. They have a spicy Serrano hot sauce that went perfectly with our entrees. On top of that, it was just over 5 minutes from ordering and all of our food was ready.
The woman working the counter has amazing people skills, she was very nice and was able to juggle the dining room quite well.
I am very excited to return and try out some more unique items from their menu. Can’t say there are any another Indian Fusion restaurant like...
Read moreI was bitterly disappointed by my recent visit to the Twisted Indian. First of all their drink selection is pathetic. I don't mind that I can't have a beer, but their soda selection is "Coke." End of list.
Then the food, which I was very excited for. My wife had chicken tikka tacos, I had a chicken tikka 'currito.' I have NEVER had such low quality chicken in chicken tikka masala. I've eaten at every Indian restaraunt locally, I've had Indian in New York, London, Tokyo, Las Vegas, Rome, practically everywhere but India. First of all, it's not breast meat, it's low quality dark meat and I was picking bits of gristle out of my teeth. Secondly, it's not tikka meat, it's not pink, it hasn't been cooked in a tandoor oven. I felt like i was eating chicken feet, finally I started picking the chicken out of my burrito.
The sauce was also poor. Absolutely no heat to it, what so ever. We finally took ourselves next door to Casitas and had some tasty mexican food, the soda of our choice, and a margarita pitcher.
I love Indian food. My absolute favorite cuisine. The food here was abysmal. I can't get over how gross that chicken was. My wife and I both threw out most of our entrees. The fries with paneer were ok, again their sauce is bad but the fries themselves were good as were the...
