We tried Mr. Shucks for our big family meal on vacation. We had a party of six and after seeing how busy this place gets we chose to try a seating at 4:15p on a Monday. We were seated immediately inside and our server, Gina, was super sweet and helped with our menu questions. My fiancé, a Marylander, was particularly interested in the blue crabs and Gina was able to give him info about their size so that we didn’t end up buying a meal he would have been not really happy with. Disappointing that the blue crabs were really small but since we knew that prior to being served, all was good. You also choose your spice level-mild, medium, and spicy. Fiancé loves spice and LOTS of Old Bay and you can request a side of additional Old Bay seasoning if needed. The snow crab legs were well-sized and steamed perfectly. Most of our party had the crab legs and all agreed they were great! The shrimp was good sized and tasty also. The fried okra and fried green tomatoes were also excellent. They provide bibs, buckets, tools, and even a warm lemon water bowl with cloth to cleanup after you’ve thoroughly coated your hands in butter. They did add a 20% gratuity automatically to the bill (likely due to the size of our party) with the option to tip additional if desired. Was not an issue as I was planning to tip at least that much. We will absolutely return to Mr. Shucks when we come back to...
Read moreMr. Shucks is a fantastic addition to Saint Simons Island! The Fried Green Tomatoes were perfect, and the Low Country Boil was some of the best I’ve ever had — cooked perfectly, not overdone. Our server, GW, was outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, answering all of our menu questions with ease. The service truly matched the quality of the food. One detail that really stood out was the thoughtful touch at the end of the meal: warm lemon water bowls with hand wipes for cleaning up after the Low Country Boil. Such a smart and appreciated gesture. If you’re looking for fresh, perfectly prepared seafood and top-notch service, Mr. Shucks could easily be the best seafood spot on the island. We’ll...
Read moreWent to the new Mr Shucks on St Simons today for thirst time after hearing good things. Unfortunately our experience was quite different. Our order was taken fairly quick but then the problems started. After 20 minutes we were told our food was next out. After another 15 minutes we were told our fish had to be thawed out before they could cook it. So much for fresh fish! After another 10 minutes we decided to leave. We told the waitress we were leaving and she said she would get the manager who was no help at all. He acted like it was our fault we were leaving. Never go again and since we live on the island we will let our friends know of...
