Loved this place. We drove from McMinnville to Salem to try their burgers. Service was excellent and friendly. The atmosphere is clean comfy and trendy. I was immediately impressed with the affordable cocktail prices on the chalk board menu by the bar. Typically $8, $9 and $10 cocktails are on a Happy Hour menu. Valiant prices their drink specials for anytime of day which is refreshing and will bring me back for sure. The food menu is easy to read, and affordable. Not a huge menu but perfectly curated. It consists of salads, wings, sandwiches, burgers, and BBQ. We ordered a house salad, a Li'll Val Smashburger (special) which comes with a pint of beer for $12 and a Crème Screamer Burger $15.00. This Smashburger has pepper jack, bacon, torched marshmallow fluff, red onions, chili sauce on a handmade sesame bun. Both burgers were incredible and true smashburgers. The Li'll Vals burger was juicy, cheesy with the perfect amount of burger sauce and the fresh house bun sets it apart. The Screamer burger with an extra patty. This burger was juicy and unexpectedly phenomenal. The unique pairing of the sweet marshmallow fluff and the savory spicy chili sauce is next level. This burger is a work of art in your mouth. Designed by a chef who thinks outside the box. If you are looking for a farm fresh sandwich shop Valiant is your spot. *Note, we met the owners who are really nice hard working people. To: everyone - Notice this fantabulous sandwich shop!

I've repeatedly had the Farley burger and their signature Coxtolstoy's hot cheese steak sandwich w/potato wedgies. I have nearly been cited for public indecency with the sounds of satisfaction I emitted while eating such a delicious sandwich (sorry not sorry). Walking by I see a smoker in the back area they use, so I can tell these guys are proper meat handlers (sorry not sorry again). The chef's are rendering their fats correctly, making for some ridiculously tender meats, meanwhile supplementing with delicious seasonings and sauces.

I highly suggest to anyone to give this fabulous sandwich shop an entry to your shortlist for lunch time grubs. Their online ordering system is fast and easy and doesn't require registration, its super easy to order lunch online.

To Valiant- If I didn't work so closely I'd never had heard of you guys, Because of that I give you 'Hidden Gem' status. You need to spread your name- aka the gospel :)

This is a clear case of a restaurant that was hoping for viral business but was not prepared for the business load that comes from being viral. I understand creating boundaries around your viral food challenge, but the lack of transparency is astounding. Last weekend we came in to do the challenge after looking at the website and on social media. They told us they didn't have the buns and all that is needed is calling at least 6 hours ahead. We tried to call on Saturday and they told us to call back on Sunday. Today we did exactly that. We called 8 hours ahead of the challenge...10 minutes after they opened. They told me they just gave away their last slot of the day. We were there last week and there was no mention of this "list". Staff keeps telling people to check the website.... I have checked the website, FB, and IG. No mention of a list of any kind. Staff was not prepared for this, and management needs to do something about it. Honestly, it feels like this was a poor attempt to get people to come into the restaurant and get them to order something else since they're already there. We won't be back. Shadiness should not...
