Bayard's Cafe — Restaurant in Salina

Another place we constantly drive past but never tried until recently. I thought based on the fact that the parking lot is always packed when they're open, that would equal great food, but I was not impressed. Had the meatloaf with a baked potato. The meatloaf was chewy, but the flavor wasn't awful and I actually liked the sauce. That was one very sad baked potato, though. Service was cruddy because they were so busy, I wasn't really expecting much better. Don't know what it is that brings in so much people, but judging by the median age group of the diners, I guess it's great if you're older and have to eat bland food. My fiancée was also very disappointed in his meal. We won't go back, but at least we can say...

Haven't really eaten there since husband started working there several years ago and to be honest the food was better when the brother was the cook, since his passing it's was better to seek employment with another company, can't take what the brother was teaching to enjoy being a employee and working there and replace it with all the B.S. and poop talking that started, the brother and other family members cared for this restaurant, but leave it where it's at now and in a year it'll be sold. The brother made sure a lot of items were made fresh and ready to go, now it's all much of the frozen stuff, nothing made like...

What do you want from a diner? Good food or great atmosphere? As for me…it’s the food. And I wasn’t disappointed with the wonderful corned beef hash. Blew my calories for the day, but it was worth it.

Notables: corned beef has was great, like I remember as a kid-and that’s saying a lot.

I picked English muffin and thought a muffin was a muffin, but this crunchy crusted top reminded me of golden has browns….which btw were crispy and golden.
