While visiting Salt Lake City, as an avid hot pot enthusiast from the Bay Area, I was intrigued by the concept of Uncle Hot Pot. The self-serve, all-you-can-eat style was a refreshing change from fixed menus, offering culinary adventure and freedom.
Right off the bat, I was impressed by the sheer variety of ingredients available. Fresh-cut meats, an array of seafood, vibrant veggies, and an assortment of broths simmered invitingly, beckoning me to dive in. But with so many options, I found myself a bit overwhelmed. Enter Shay, the owner, who graciously stepped in as our personal hot pot sherpa.
Shay's passion for her restaurant and expertise in crafting the perfect hot pot experience was evident. She guided us through the broths (the spicy Szechuan was a personal favorite!), recommended must-try meat cuts (the thinly sliced lamb was melt-in-your-mouth good), and even showed us some secret dipping sauce combinations.
But the true star of the show for me was the chicken legs. Don't let their humble appearance fool you. These beauties were marinated to perfection, cooked tender and juicy, and absorbed the flavors of the broth like champs. Every bite was an explosion of savory goodness.
Uncle Hot Pot is more than just a meal; it's an experience. The inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and endless customization possibilities make it a perfect spot for gatherings with friends and family. And with Shay's expert guidance, even a hot pot newbie like me could navigate the buffet like a pro.
If you're looking for a fun and flavorful hot pot adventure in Salt Lake City, Uncle Hot Pot is a must-try. Just be sure to ask for Shay - she'll make your hot pot journey even more delicious!

Read moreI have been to so so many hot pot restaurants and this place is no good.. the quality of the food was SCARY and QUESTIONABLE, their ribeye (100% was not ribeye btw) was so dark and weird looking, the chicken was the same way.. both look very old and the color was terrible. The veggies were not fresh either they looked old and like they have been stored for a long time. The handles/doors of the glass shelves where the veggies and other stuff was, were dirty and gross, full of finger prints and dirt marks. We brought up the chicken to the server/host and he simply excuse it. We should have know this place was up to no good, because it was EMPTY on a busy day of the week at lunch time.. just us! That was a big sign.. evidently we didn't order anything else and left 90%of the food uncooked and cooked because I was scare I could get sick.. evidently the server didn't even ask "how was the food?" He would not dare, he only kept asking if we needed more or he could get us anything else and heck No! Even though I brought up the chicken looking questionable he of course came up with an excuse and didn't even offer to bring healthy looking and fresh chicken.. at that point I knew the type of service I was dealing with! By reading other reviews I can definitely say this is a bad continuous pattern of them..and they choose not to better themselves and fix these issues, I'm big on supporting small businesses but I don't like being taken advantage of as a customer/consumer. I will not recommend this place or ever go...
