I absolutely love this place! This was my first time coming in and I went in the morning looking to get some breakfast after my AM shift had left me starving. I saw that these guys offered killer pancakes, and so I went in excited to try it out.
Let me tell you: this place does not dissapoint! Walking inside, the ambience and the decor/furniture used in this restaurant gave such a cute and cozy vibe to it. The natural lighting was also plentiful, emanating relaxation and happiness!
I was greeted at the front door by a gentlemen that I sadly forgot the name of, and he took no time in showing me around and seating me at one of the booths. I was then hosted by a lady a minute after -- her name Maria -- and she has been such a generous and patient lady that made me feel at home. Without me asking, she offered me a water at the spot with these cute bubbly-looking glass cups and asked if I wanted a coffee. She also said that their "bottomless coffee" is unlimited meaning you just pay once and you can request a refill as much as you'd like! I never had to wait once for a refill nor did I actively have to seek out a waiter to serve me, so the service so far was great.
I asked her what her recommendation was for a first-timer, and she recommended either the blueberry lemon pancakes or the eggs benedict----both popular menu items. I went ahead and opted for the pancakes, and I had asked her what the portion size was for the dish and she told me they were big portions and filling, so I was excited! I also decided to get a side of fries just for the craving too.
Once the pancakes came, Maria wasn't joking around. Those pancakes were huge. I gotta say, most breakfast restaurants that I have visited recently don't put portions like these so this came to me as a pleasant surprise. The pancakes were so good----like they were so fluffy I don't think I've ever had pancakes like that in my life. They were definitely made with love and soul. Additionally, the blueberries were a perfect level of tart and juicyness which complemented the sweet and delicate taste of the lemon curd. Everything worked so well together, and at no point did I feel overwhelemed with sweetness or tartness. And it all tasted so fresh I loved every bite, along with being such a filling meal!
The fries on the side were also plentiful, but they weren't game changing. They're just your average fries -- as Maria described -- but still pretty good! However, the complimentary fry sauce that came with the fries was such a game changer. Normally, I don't die hard for fry sauce but there's something that MBH has done to make this fry sauce taste distinctive, and it was pleasantly surprising lol!
I wasn't even able to finish the pancakes as of how full I was and Maria noticed, and offered a to-go box for me. Her service was incredible and again she made me feel welcomed and was patient. I will definitely be visiting this place again when I'm in the area, and try the Eggs Benedict next time!
So yeah, TDLR: great service, kind staff, and great food. Tastes fresh, food made with love and soul, and such a cute atmosphere to be in! If you're in the area and looking for either breakfast, brunch, or some sides to crave that hunger then this is the place to go! And definitely get to meet Maria she's awesome and makes the experience 10x better.
PS: Not really a good photographer so the photos don't do it justice but just trust me it's...
Read moreI usually never write reviews but after the night I had eating this food. I felt the need to warn others.. service started out ok. We walked in. They asked for two and then proceeded to give us a table. The table was right in the middle of the dining room and since there was only two of us, it was kind of awkward but we didn't complain about it. It took our server about 10 mins to finally come and greet us. Since we had never been there before I asked her some questions about the menu because I had never seen a couple of items and had no idea what they were (madame corque) with the white cheese an whatever else is in.. she also had no idea what was in it. Even though I explained to her that we had never been there before. Wasent any more helpful then my grandma sitting next to. I figured maybe she was new. So no big deal there. We ordered the perfect omelet, the French toast with a side of eggs and potatoes and the breakfast French fries.. the ONLY thing that came out hot was the potatoes. Everything else was a Luke warm at best.. the French toast was soggy and cold in some places before the syrup had even been poured. My grandmother enjoyed her omelet for the simple fact that it DID NOT come out pipping hot cuz she was having issues with her mouth anyway.. but yall. I don't know what was going on with my side of eggs but when I tell you these were the nastiest eggs I had ever experienced in life.. they were soggy but yet a wierd texture that I can't even describe like someone had mixed cheese with them but there was no cheese... they were terrible... the only thing I was really able to eat and enjoy were the breakfast frys.. and on top of all of this. After we left I started feeling unwell. Woke up, and kept throwing up breakfast fries and egg pieces throughout the night. I had nothing else to eat that day besides the marmalade brunch house and this has NEVER happen to me before... I write this as a warning to others. Be very cautious trying new places and look at reviews before you go. Don't make the same mistake I did. Because food taste alot better going down then it does...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A SERVICE DOG.
I had my service dog with me, who is trained to perform medical alert and response tasks as well as light mobility support. Upon entering, I was asked for certification. I explained that there is no state or federal registry with legal standing; all those that claim to provide "certification" are fraudulent. While the employee left to get a manager, I googled Utah state law in case there was something I wasn't aware of, as I'm from out of state. The Americans with Disabilities Act as well as Utah state law states that a service dog does not need to be "certified." I also provided answers to the two questions a business is allowed to ask under the ADA (is your dog a service dog, and what tasks is he trained to perform) in the form of, "yes, he's a service dog, and he's trained for medical alert and response and light mobility support." I also asked what type of certification they were looking for, and the manager I spoke to could not provide an answer.
After my explanation, I was informed that despite all that, it was "the business's decision whether or not to allow a service dog," and was told that I would not be seated. Despite the blatant illegality of that statement- a business does still have to abide by the law- I left because my service dog had started alerting.
I understand that there can be confusion around service dog registration, as a lot of fraudulent registries promote themselves as having some sort of legal standing. However, I would have hoped that a business would educate itself on its obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and state law. I hope that this review will serve as a reminder to do so. Being illegally denied access for disability-related reasons is a humiliating experience, and I would not wish...
