We searched for restaurants in SLC that people considered deserving to be in the Michelin guide and Arlo restaurant kept popping up. After our experience here, I completely agree with these people! Very innovative food, exceptional service, and honestly, the prices for each dish were very reasonable. Arlo is located in a quiet neighborhood and has its own parking lot, which is a huge plus (just go down the driveway).
Service/Ambiance: The inside has a rustic, modern feel. There were lots of 2-4 person tables that could probably be made into 6 person tables. There’s a whole outdoor area inside a canopy and looked to have ample heat lamps. We opted for the bar seats inside facing the open kitchen and we absolutely loved it. We’re no professional cooks but we appreciated watching the head chef and the other chefs work well together in a calm manner. It was enjoyable seeing them plate each dish.
Each dish came out fairly quickly and we didn’t have to wait to finish a dish before the next one came. Shout out to our server Kyle for a great service.
Food: The dinner menu is simply laid out in one page, making everything easy to see. Our server explained which parts are appetizers, shareables, and main dishes. My husband and I shared each dish and we were pretty stuffed at the end. Usually in restaurants like this, I can easily say that some dishes are good to skip. But we were pleasantly surprised with each dish and we’d order these same items again.
For drinks, I ordered Rum Cocktail ($12) and he ordered Mescal Cocktail ($12). The Rum drink was sweeter, which is how I like my drinks.
-Bread and butter ($5): crispy outside and soft in the inside. The thyme was apparent and made it so flavorful that I didn’t have to use too much butter like I usually do with other breads that aren’t as tasty. -Small potatoes ($10): petite whole potatoes in brie fondue, duck fat, and crispy bits— this was surprisingly sooo delicious. Potatoes were cooked nicely and the toppings together worked very well. -Fish and Chips ($9): housemade chips topped with fish. You’d think everything on it was salty but the flavors of each ingredient worked so well together. Must get! -Vegetable Tart ($14): also a must get! -Duck Ravioli ($29): main dish; pasta was cooked nicely and there was a generous amount of duck inside the raviolis. -Lemon Tart ($12): we asked our server what his most favorite dessert was and this is what he said. My husband who usually doesn’t appreciate lemon desserts actually liked this a lot.
Overall: We were definitely impressed with Arlo and I highly recommend this restaurant. I believe they have a rotating menu so I’d love to come back here if we’re ever back in the area again. Make sure to make...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews online (however, I do fangirl directly to the chef), but our experience last night at Arlo was so lovely that I MUST let the people know, as my boyfriend and I found ourselves literally giggling in delight through our entire three-hour dinner at the chef’s counter.
Arlo is the best restaurant in SLC. Period.
Discovering Arlo several months ago was like finding a bucket o’ treasure. I went like five times in the first three weeks after my first visit. But ALAS, moving to the burbs has put a big damper on the frequency 💔
Without meaning to say this for any other reason than perspective, I have been to over 30 countries, countless cities, and dined in all of them. Arlo feels like a culinary secret from a big food city, like Paris/NYC/Lima/Kyoto. We’re so blessed to have something of this caliber in little SLC 🫱🏼🫲🏽
The food, atmosphere, service here are absolutely top-notch, with each dish demonstrating a level of refinement and care that's hard to find anywhere close. Honestly, the whole vibe is just REFINED without being pretentious at all.
If you love & appreciate vegetables, and also love & appreciate yourself, just come to Arlo. Everything is incredible, but the seasonal and local vegetables are especially treated with respect 🫡 It turns out, our server even grew many of them himself, which added a personal touch that’s simply charming. See, delightful! In too many places the humble veggie is just an afterthought. But not here. Nothing is an afterthought here. The meat dishes are also cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Arlo doesn’t miss.
We started with the tomato salad and gazpacho which were both so good I started LAUGHING. Totally weird reaction, I know, but when was the last time you ate something so good you laughed?! And then we giggled at each subsequent course. PURE JOY!
The decor is chic and understated, with delicate glasses and beautiful little ceramic dishes that look handmade. The menu descriptions are fun and unexpected. The pacing of the meal is perfect—neither rushed nor slow, just a delightful, unrushed journey of flavors. Watching the chefs at work was like witnessing a FREAKIN BALLET, POETRY IN MOTION I TELL YOU; the kitchen is a beautiful dance of precision and focus. The whole experience is rounded off with impeccable service, making the evening feel both special and relaxed. We even got surprise treats from the kitchen which just made us giggle with joy even more.
In a nutshell, this restaurant is a treasure trove of DELIGHT, flavor, charm, and refinement blending top-tier cuisine with a chic and fun personal touch. Thank you for a beautiful experience, Arlo team 🫶🏼🥲 We’ll...

We showed up a few minutes before opening and were let in. We sat inside and after walking from the Avenues, that was the right call. Not sure what the parking situation is nearby, but the walk was generally nice.
We were greeted as we entered and were quickly seated near the front windows. We had a reservation but didn’t specify what seat we might prefer. At 10 am in the summer, it was very bright and sunny—I wore my sunglasses. If you have issues with the sun, plan accordingly. When we come again for dinner, we’ll probably sit at the counter near the kitchen. It seemed as popular as sitting outside on the patio.
We were given water shortly after being seated. Our server, V. was calm and professional and brought out our coffee and iced tea. The coffee was robust but tasted nice. The iced tea was just great because you can ask for honey and can sweeten it to your preference.
Along with our drinks, we shared a cinnamon roll which was lightly sweetened and topped with a cream cheese frosting. Sometimes this style of frosting can put me off with the ratio of cream cheese being too much, but it was just right.
We ordered our mains, the simple breakfast with a side of sausage and the quiche with a side of toast and sausage. Both were delicious. Not sure I needed the toast because while the quiche appeared small, it was rich and filling. I think it’s probably the best quiche I’ve had in UT, if not my life. It had a flaky crust and an almost custard filling with a topping of what I think was arugula.
Normally, I hate arugula but I’m not sure if it maybe was the dressing or just the type of arugula that made it all balance out. It was very delicious. The crunch of the crust and arugula worked well with the delicate quiche.
We enjoyed a fairly quiet breakfast until about 10:30 when a large party showed up and couldn’t handle sitting in the sunshine for 10 minutes. They disrupted an otherwise peaceful breakfast by moving furniture around.
The staff did their best to accommodate them and were very polite about it. If there’s a negative review about this later, hopefully folks will see this and make...
