Let me preface this by saying I am not much of a reviewer, and even more so if it is not a 5 star review. I just had what is probably the worst service I have ever had. Some might say, "what do you expect at a fast food restaurant at 1:45am?" Well let me explain...I pulled up to the drive through and the lady asks to take my order. I order the 4 street tacos special they have. She says, "one moment please." So, I'm sitting there waiting (I work overnights up at the U, on my lunch break, so I'm in a time crunch), 3 minutes goes by; 4 minutes goes by; 5 minutes. I say, "hello?" No response. 7 minutes, cars are stacking up behind me. I end up pulling up to the window. I notice a sign that states they now close at 2am (1:53 at this point). The lady straight up puts a cardboard cutout into the window to block my view of the inside. Are you kidding me? Then, she proceeds to take it out, realizing she forgot to grab her tip money in the tip jar. She puts the cardboard back into the window, all while ignoring the fact that I am sitting there confused by what is going on. I wasn't expecting 5-star service; to be honest, I would have been perfectly fine with 2 star service because people are a pain in the rear-end. But please, if you are going to bluntly close earlier than your sign says, don't take someone's order, and then proceed to close the door in their face. Or at least make up some BS excuse that your grill is broken...
Read moreI usually write detailed reviews. But at Beto's there's no need.
I go to Beto's when I am looking for fast cheap Mexican food that's NOT actually fast food quality like Taco Bell to something, and when I'm not close enough to a taco stand.
Some taco stands in Salt Lake actually have better tacos. But Beto's has decent carnitas and carne asada. And they will pile you up with a ton of food for not a lot of money. For $6 you can get a 3 pound burrito or two tacos with half a pound of meat on each one.
Sure it's food-service quality meat, and they used canned pickled jalapenos and carrots like the taco stands. But sometimes it still hits the spot.
If you're looking for delicious sit-down Mexican dining, Beto's is not your spot. But if you want a quick decent lunch during the work-day, or you've been out partying and drinking, need a waffle house but find yourself in a high desert town way north of the mason Dixon line that used to belong to Mexico, then Beto's will fill your beer soaked stomach up and even put a smile...
Read moreWe were visiting Salt Lake City this past weekend (from Temecula, CA) and stopped by to grab some Mexican food. Woohoo! It was a huge let down. We ordered from the drive thru and although there were four cars before us, it moved pretty quickly . We ordered and were out within ten minutes. We had the 4 street tacos, a bean, cheese , and rice burrito, and the Asada fries. 2 asada tacos were really good. The only thing missing was the lime and salt, but their green salsa is pretty good. On the other hand , the 2 al pastor tacos were not good at all. Too sweet . The bean and cheese burrito with rice was good (according to my sister ). The only good thing about the asada fries was the carne asada on them. Threw the rest of the fries, guacamole and cream out. All in all, the best thing about this place (that we ate) was the asada and the service. The girl who took out order was very kind and friendly. So, food was 2 stars for us , but if I take into account the service ,...
