I just learned about this place today, I was told it has a “occult style” vibe to it, that attracted me right away and had to check it out. Love dark, occult style aesthetics. I know they just opened not that long ago, but the only dark aesthetics was the names of the menu items. No dark decor. Despite that, it was a nice cozy spot, kinda small but nice. Now onto the food. I had the pulled pork sandwich, in the pic, and their potato’s. The potatoes was really good, but was the only thing hot. My pulled pork sandwich was not hot, I know if it was more hot it would be delicious. Wasn’t cold but could definitely have been cooked longer. I had to use a fork and knife to eat it because when I tried to pick it up the meat was just falling out. To drink I had their hot latte, let me say, that was sooooooooo delicious!! I would definitely go back just for the coffee. With my food I had their coke soda, their sodas are made in house with different syrups(I think that is what I was told) and it wasn’t my vibe but might be for you. Service was decent, I am big on service and it was pretty good. They could’ve been really caught up on dealing with making food and everything but the friendly atmosphere was probably 7/10. So overall it decent. Would give it another try to see if it was just that one miss with the food. Give it a try.

Let's get the big questions first, did I feel a bit pretentious going in here, yes, was the food great, also yes, were the staff polite, also yes. This is a place that has the exact atmosphere that you would expect. As for the price I feel it was justified by the quality of the food, my burrito was incredibly well balanced enough that even though I'm not really a cilantro person I did eat it, my dad enjoyed his salad and said it felt quite fresh and pretty packed with flavor for a salad. The lemonade was a bit overly sweet for my taste and the root beer was like a pumpkin spice root beer which wasn't bad but wouldn't be to everyone's taste. If you are a person who enjoys a bit of the "hipster" lifestyle this place is perfect for you, if you are wanting a bit of the experience it's definitely not an overwhelming place to be, if you're in the area give it a shot.

It's wonderful to watch the journey of this unique culinary concept come to life. Most of the interiors are self built, which is impressive. They offer a variety of delicious breakfast and lunch options with intriguing names (lots of vegan-friendly items). We ordered The Cultist and Tower of Babe and did have to wait a little longer than usual but it was totally worth it. Both dishes were very well presented, cooked and flavorful. The polenta patty was a delightfully unexpected component of Tower of Babel. I might have found my new favorite brunch spot 🤩

The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating, and it gets packed quickly. The setup is confusing when we came in we were told to sit anywhere, but when we sat down were told to order food at the counter. That might sound simple, but the problem is once you get up to order, people coming in think your seats are open and try to sit down. A better system would make the experience less chaotic.

For my drink, I asked if they could make an Arnold Palmer (sweet tea and lemonade). The cashier said yes, but didn’t mention that they don’t have sweet tea—it’s actually green tea. Only when the drinks were brought out did the server put it down and call it a “green tea lemonade,” which was honestly awful. A simple explanation up front would’ve avoided the whole issue.

When I politely asked if I could just have a lemonade instead, the server got mad, sighed loudly, and said “Ugh, I guess I just have to waste this drink and throw it out.” Then she came back, slammed the lemonade down between my friends without saying excuse me, and walked off. No apology, no professionalism, just attitude. That same server had literally greeted us when we first walked in with “OH BOY” and a stank face, as if more customers walking in was some kind of burden.

On top of that, the food comes out sporadically so if you’re eating with friends, don’t expect to get your food at the same time. Maybe it’s because of the small kitchen, but no one bothers to explain that.

The food itself? Honestly, it was really good we all enjoyed it. But the terrible service overshadowed everything. The server’s aggression and hostility made the whole experience uncomfortable. I don’t think I’ll be back, and I can only recommend this place if you enjoy toxic service from wait staff who act like they hate working...

VEGANS BEWARE meat eaters can disregard my review.

Goat Head has been my favorite restaurant since it opened. Their vegan options have always been delicious, and everyone there is SO nice and fun to talk to. The vegan egg is delicious, and the vegan bacon?! So good you almost can’t tell the difference.

That’s where the problem starts. There have been two confirmed incidents of the chef putting meat bacon on vegan items in place of the vegan bacon. It was caught the first time with no incident, and the bacon was replaced.

The second time? Both the VEGAN Mariachi burrito and naturally vegan Laura Jane Grace sandwich had meat bacon on it in place of vegan bacon. Both menu items were partially consumed and caused gastrointestinal issues for someone who is both allergic to pork and hasn’t had meat since 2011. Their actually vegan bacon is just so good that you can’t tell the difference if it’s all wrapped up with other ingredients.

I suspect there was a third incident of the Laura Jane Grace having meat bacon on it, but can’t confirm.

I don’t know if it’s being done maliciously or just by mistake, but that’s several “mistakes” being done to the same person. How many other plant based eaters have been slipped meat?

Goat Head was my favorite, and it crushes me to never be able to return. The faith in their vegan practices in gone and once you’ve slipped me meat 2-3 times? Cannot be rebuilt. This restaurant is only safe for those who are fine...
