Granato's Gourmet Market — Restaurant in Salt Lake City

Horrible experience. Whoever the lady’s are that were running this place at 4am on 8/31/23 are an absolute joke. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese which they charge $5.50 for. Once I get it I see that it’s one of those where they just toast the bagel and make you put on the spread. Not ideal but not a big deal. However, they only gave me one small spread packet for the whole bagel. I asked for a couple more just as you would if you want more sauce at a restaurant thinking it was no big deal. They said no, that’s going to cost $2 per packet… per packet! I tried to reason with them and explain how it’s just one small packet of cream cheese, can I just get a little more? What’s that going to hurt you or the business you work at? They refused and insisted that I must pay $2 per packet of cream cheese that I want. Not exactly the way one would want to start their day, especially that early in the morning. These ladies have not the first clue of what customer service means and it’s these type of people that will bring down their business. Not surprised they have 2.2 stars on Google. Not to mention the quality of the bagel itself was atrocious. It tasted like you put frozen bread in a microwave. One star because I’ve never, in my life, been treated so poorly by staff. They were horrible. They were rude, frowned, and seemed to hate their job. My 3 daughters wanted pasta and they acted extremely put out about having to “boil water” to make it. In the end we only got one pasta because it was “already made.” The owner needs to employ better employees, they all need to be replaced. My Avacado turkey Sandwhich was good. The package of olives I ordered was amazing. But I had to argue with the cashier to get the packages of olives. She did not want to get them out of the fridge. The staff just despised having to lift a finger. It made our eating experience at the airport as a family very stressful and tiresome. It also took a long time to get our food. I also saw how rude they were to each customer after me, as I waited for my food. It was sad to watch. Owners fix your staff!!!! I was there at 3pm on January 31, 2023. I’d name all the employees, but none of them were wearing name tags. Such a terrible experience. We will eat somewhere kinder next time we travel through...

I normally don’t post reviews but the exceptionally bad service I received warrants a review. When not helped Umi asked if I could order and the bitter woman barked at me to ask the non-existent register clerk. When the cashier returned, I ordered and began my quantum of solace wait for my breakfast sandwich. After everyone else had left I asked broom Hilda if everything was okay with order which she ignored showing the closest thing to some joy since I entered the shop. When the cashier returned, I really don’t blame him for avoiding the presence of Grumpy Pants. The cashier told me thought Grumpy Pants was making the sandwich. Ten minutes later I received my order.
