Kura Revolving Sushi Bar â Sugar House First time at a conveyor belt sushi spot and Iâve gotta say⌠what a ride. đŁđ¤
This was my first visit to Kura in the Sugar House area, and honestly, Iâve always wanted to try one of those revolving sushi bars you see in movies and TV. The moment you walk in, youâre greeted with robot servers zipping around delivering drinks and wasabi while blasting fun musicâitâs cute, quirky, and feels like dinner and a show.
Ordering is a little confusing at first (especially if youâre a first-timer like me), but once you scan the QR code at your table and get the hang of the phone menu, itâs super easy. The staff were incredibly helpfulâkind, patient, and ready to jump in if you needed anything.
Hereâs how it works: ⢠You can grab sushi from the lower belt as it passes by ⢠OR you can order from your phone or the screen above the table, and your items come flying in on the upper belt like sushi rockets đ ⢠Every plate you eat gets slid into a slot at your table that keeps countâkind of like feeding the table sushi tokens
We tried a mix of things: ⢠Rainbow Roll (a bit heavy on the crab saladâmore wet than Iâd prefer) ⢠Salmon Roll ⢠Soft Shell Crab Tempura (heavy on the tempura, light on the crab) ⢠Dumplings (surprisingly tastyâone of our favs!) ⢠A grilled octopus roll that I didnât realize was grilled (my bad) but ended up really liking ⢠A few hand rolls (these were the least favoriteâseaweed was tough and chewy)
So hereâs the honest truth: the sushi itself isnât the best in town. There are definitely other spots in SLC that are stronger if youâre in it for a the sushi. But the experience here? 10/10.
Itâs fun, high-energy, and just different. Think of it as dinner with an interactive twistâscreens talking, robots rolling, belts spinning. Itâs a little bit sensory overload, but in a fun way. Would I bring out-of-town friends or go again for something casual and entertaining? Absolutely. Would I come here for a romantic sushi date night? Probably not.
Average price for two of us was around $54. We ordered a decent amount and left full (the plates look small but add up fast). We didnât make it to dessertâwe were too stuffedâbut weâll be back with friends just for the vibe.
Definitely worth checking out at least onceâespecially if you want sushi with a side of...

Iâve been to this conveyor belt sushi restaurant twice in one week and gave it four stars overall. The first visit was enjoyable, with fresh-tasting options and quick service. However, my second visit ended on a disappointing note.
What happened: After finishing one plate, I started feeling unwell in my gut. It raised concerns about the freshness or handling of the food. When another plate looked suspect enough to replace, I asked for a swap. The waiter asked why, and it was clear the fish was discolored (a dark, almost black tint). Despite exchanging the plate, the replacement still showed the same issue. I ultimately had to reject the plate and leave, which was frustrating given how much I wanted to enjoy the meal.
What I hope for moving forward: Please maintain strict quality control to ensure all sushi is fresh and clearly presented as safe to eat. Consistency is key: Iâd love to return and have another positive experience, knowing the seafood is fresh and prepared properly. Ongoing attention to food safety and handling would help this restaurant continue to grow and earn loyal patrons.
On balance: I appreciate the variety and the quick, casual vibe of a conveyor belt sushi spot. Iâm hopeful the management will address the freshness and quality issues so the restaurant can keep delivering enjoyable experiences for diners.
If the kitchen can ensure consistent freshness and better communication about plate quality, Iâd be eager to revisit and raise my...
Read moreWent there for a party of 7 for my daughterâs birthday as per her requests. Seen some TikTok n iG videos of the place popping up, good reviews, and looks to be cool spot to try. Got there at 6:10pm on a Saturday, and got on the reservation list. We waited until 7:40 đ° until they had seatings for 4 and 3 next to each other. Donât bother coming if you have a party of higher than 4 people. This place doesnât have the seating capacity for bigger parties. Unless you want to be spread out in different sections.
The atmosphere was nice and cool. Waiter/Waitress robot was cool site to see. We was seated 6th or 7th booth on the conveyor belt way. Weâd see the tray on the other side and looks great to grab, but by time it got to our seat section it was already taken. Most time we ordered it on the above touch screen. My Adult and teenage kids was hungry for waiting hour and half. So one table ate 34 plates, and my table next to them ate 37 plates. At almost $4 a small plate it added up. Ended up spending about $400 for all 7 of us. Came to about $58/person for my tables.
Waiters were great and they did their job well, but this dimsum style sushi plate is a little expensive for the portions. Plate presentation was good, and flavor and choices was good. Sushi was freshly made as it was being consumed every rotation. I wouldnât call this high end sushi, but it was ok/good. This place is a great conversation and FB/iG/tiktok posts, but probably wouldnât go there again on an...
