This park is pretty small and is located on the corner of 500 east and 1700 south. This is one of those corner parks. You meet up with your friends when you go jogging or for coffee in the park without it being real busy or a small picnic, perhaps after a small walk. If you live in the area or want a destination for when you go on a walk I would recommend first encampment park. It's not big, nearby parking is tough, but you know, it's pretty, and it's a lot better than just some building on the corner to me.

Nice little park in a nice little area. It has a few benches and places to lay on the grass. Plenary of shade as well. They have a few flower patches that get a lot of insect life which is fun to catch and snap some photos of. They do seem to have a lot of homeless people hanging around but they try and hid so they stay out of the way. Defiantly a cool spot to check out if you are on a walk but nothing to make a special trip for.

Not much to it but still beautiful. A reminder of how Salt Lake City all began. Beautifully maintained and a quiet spot to reflect. Make sure you walk a 1/2 block north to see the historical home mentioned on the plaque.

Enjoy your first encounter with First Encampment Park found in the heart of 1700 South. You'll find the roaming paths soothing as the musical beats from passersby pound into your soul. The traditions and the greenery are vibrant, and the stream is well contained— removing all drowning hazard for your kids as they play in the park. As Pocahantas said, "Every rock...has a life, has a spirit, has a name." And so...
