We have been coming to this location 1-2 times a week to eat. We were so excited to eat lunch from here and decided to pick up an order through the drive thru. First problem was the online ordering system. It froze on me several times, refused to take my credit card information and then told me the order couldn't go through without updating a scheduled time. The only option was to hit "ASAP" which I did. And... nothing happened. Still showed an error, booted me off and erased the order that I had left in my cart.
So, still craving our usual sandwiches we drove there to place an order in person. One car in front of us and it took more than 5 minutes before we were up. I ordered a small original with no onions, sour cream and onion chips and an unsweetened tea. My husband ordered a small Albuquerque turkey with regular chips and an unsweetened tea. The boy at the window asked several questions about our two unsweetened teas and which size, after we'd already paid him the cash total. After about 10 minutes we were handed our bag, and we drove home.
As I'm walking into our house I received an email notification about our online order. An order that said it couldn't be placed. So I called the restaurant and sat through 2 minutes of ringing before someone picked up the phone. They could see my order, but couldn't help. So they put me on hold for a "manager" who then proceeded to tell me they could verify the order. I told him it wouldn't go through on my end online, so we'd already gone thru the drive thru and paid cash for the same two sandwiches in the order. Then he tells me his gm can probably take care of it tomorrow, but do I want to be refunded for one order or two? Because apparently it went through TWICE. At this point, I've paid close to $75 for two SMALL sandwiches from here. Yes, I need to be refunded for BOTH charges, as we already paid cash at the drive through. So, the "manager" could do nothing but say his gm will be there tomorrow.
So, I guess there's no manager or anyone with power there to take care of issues when you come to get food from their establishment... So, still hungry, we sit down to eat.
My "original" sandwich was a ham and cheese COVERED entirely with mustard and full of raw onions. It was mushy, barely any meat and bread was falling apart soggy. My chips were not what I ordered, they put salt and vinegar in the bag instead. My husband's Albuquerque turkey was a plain roast beef sandwich with black broth in a cup. His regular chips were replaced with cracked black pepper flavored chips. So disappointing and gross. Too bad there wasn't a manager or anything there that could have fixed this problem, even if we'd have gone back..........
And to make matters worse, they probably had our correct order sitting there somewhere, only there was no way of knowing because the online ordering system wouldn't let me know until 20 minutes later that the order had even gone through.
I will never use their system again, and we definitely won't be back. Also, better be receiving a refund. Should actually be refunded the cash from the two trash sandwiches (that weren't even what we...
Read moreMy favorite sandwich and has been for decades. This has been our go-to place for quote-unquote "fast food" since the very first schlotzsky store opened here in late 70s or very early 80s. We've eaten at every location over the years including the old mall location, the old small downtown location, the Vanderventer store, and for many many years, the Knickerbocker store, which was about two minutes from my job. I can't even begin to imagine how many lunches I had there during the years it was there and the Wests owned it and ran it. However in the last few years ,staff at the big downtown location - which I think is the only one left here - seems confused about how to produce a Schlotzsky's original with no meat. I'd always been told to order a "cheese original" to get everything on the sandwich except meat. I've been ordering it that way for decades. In the last 3 yrs or so I never know what I'm going to get when husband brings home Schlotzsky's. If we order a cheese original, it's only melted cheese, MAYBE lettuce, maybe black olives, but it hasn't had mustard, signature sauce, tomatoes, or all the things that make it a schlotzsky. We actually got one recently that didn't even have black olives! The very last one had olives, but nothing else but cheese -congealed cheese. If I wanted a plain cheese sandwich on sourdough bread I could make that easily. We go to Schlotzsky's for the full taste experience of a Schlotzsky's sandwich. I choose to have that experience without meat. That's why I asked many yrs ago how to properly order it so I don't get meat accidentally. They have always said it is called a cheese original &will contain all of the vegetables, condiments+cheeses (I think there are three?) I've ordered this way at other locations in Texas+New Mexico. Never had a problem until this restaurant in San Angelo the last few years. This is the only location that ever considered a cheese original to be cheese and bread only. I've repeatedly used their web form to ask why, with no response. So I finally asked corporate, not the store, what should be in the sandwich I've been ordering all these years. I thought perhaps they had changed the ingredient list. Nope. I'm curious to know if mgmt has changed between about 2015 - 2019. Or maybe there's high turnover & they haven't trained people correctly? But apparently, we have to list every single ingredient you expect to find on a cheese original in order to get the true Schlotzsky sandwich. Disappointing and frustrating. Always cold...
Read moreTonight We ordered our food through thier website however apparently this is done through Delivery.Com, even though we went to pick up the food. The text message sent says ready by 915, so I get there right at nine and they tell me that they only have one of our sandwiches because they had given the large original to another person on accident. So I got my fiancé’s sandwich chips and drink but not my Sandwich. The Manager said the only thing that scouts do was make me the Sandwich tomorrow or ask delivery.com for a refund. So I tell her I will speak to the Store owner in the morning. Then I get home and the Cinnabon my fiancé ordered isn’t in the bag either. Now I’m livid so I call delivery.com and I’m told it can take up to five days for the refund. My Fiancé is from California and I’ve been bragging about how good Schlotzsky’s is. Now she is totally unimpressed and I’m hungry. After driving half way across town from Southland. I will be eating a...
