The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because the food was hot and felt fresh. Unfortunately the service was .5 star* This is the 1st time ever my boyfriend and his 16 y/o son visited an Applebee's and they were also disappointed but all was because of the service and we found a short hair on the border of one of our plates (looked like maybe from someone's arms.) We could have made a huge drama about it, but we just didn't touch that plate at all. First, the 'endless wings and fries' was the only reason we went, so first they didn't served the fries and cole slaw as in the picture (as I asked the waitress) nobody offered any dipping sauce, so we had to almost beg for it, the other thing, they said they ran out of cole slaw, and the honey pepper wing flavor was out!? Well, the 2nd time we asked for the wings they served half of the number of wings they did the first plate and the waitress indicated that fries were not 'endless' I showed her the menu where it clearly stated "Endless fries" but she brought them after we finished the wings. We bought two plates, so mind you she brought one small serving of the fries she also mentioned 'as complimentary' since they didn't have cole slaw. Waitress passed twice next to us and two of our drinks needed refill, but we had to asked her, she went for one drink and then we had to remind her, the other glass also needed refill. I mentioned to her I joined the email with Applebee's and received a coupon for a free appetizer, we asked for mozzarella sticks, she forgot the appetizer, then when she returned she said manager was coming to our table to take a look at that coupon in my email, we said that was fine, she never treated us with an ugly attitude we also replied to her very polite, but manager never arrived to the table. We was never offered any dessert or coffee, as a matter of fact she asked me if I said earlier that was going to be the last order of wings? We did ordered 3 order of wings each, but the promotion was all you want. We wasn't ready to go since we wanted some dessert and planned to get coffee but we couldn't stand staying there anymore, so we paid and leave. We did tip the lady. The worst is she had a positive attitude, with all her rejection believe it or not I'm not going to blame her, she was disappointing, but we are blaming management 100%. We think this is probably this waitresses first day, max 1 week at her job, she looked lost and she has no idea of what customer service really means. Even when the wings came hot and fresh, great taste, she missed the hair on the fries, she didn't offered any dipping sauce, she didn't offered a replacement for the cole slaw, and we almost had to beg for refills. We are so dissatisfied we really never want to return to any Applebee's. You know, we later realized this restaurant seemed too empty for a Friday night, and they have really great prices in their menu! No wonder they're really empty, this might happens more often than we know. They need really good training and management needs to be Replaced, this ship is going to sink really soon with the worst service I have ever received in San Antonio. I've been in fast foods that treat me with more dignity and paid above that total we did there. Never again. Hope y'all can read this and do something about it. Please train those waitresses, they don't have a clue about what's going on with their promotions. If she would have been more careful, more attentive we would have loved to return on Monday for their special, and next weekend for a steak, but naaahhh we going to another place applebee's ain't going to be getting our...
Read moreWe decided to take an early lunch which was a little after 11AM to beat the crowd. There wasn't a lot of cars in the parking lot which worked great for us. The restaurant was empty except for a couple other guests. Our server was a nice girl. She was attentive and would ask what we needed and was very obliging. I think overall the food was alright but lacking in some way. It's been a while since I had been to Applebees but I remember how delicious everything was and I guess the flavors are just not as spot on as it used to be. Presentation of a majority of the meals were attractive and delicious looking but flavor wise I didn't finish a lot of things. We got the appetizer which included a quesadillas, boneless, wings, tortillas and queso cheese. I found the quesadillas though tasty a little on the dry side in the middle. The boneless wings were slightly over seasoned. The tortillas, well....you can't mess those up. So yummy.
Our main meal came which was the riblet basket and fries. For me, it was really disappointing. It wasn't in the usual basket with fries, but on a plate and I only had 2 riblets that were pretty skinny with a lot of fries. I remember getting at least 3 or 4 of those in the past because they are small, not like ribs and the fact it cost $13 dollars, I definitely expected more than 2 skinny short riblets. I am no big back, but the ribs ended fast because they were so small and then all this mountain of fries was left. Looking at a ruler they had to be about 4 or 5 inches in length and very flat.
The Pepsi was watered down. Some fizz but not like the bottle of Pepsi you can buy at the store with the fizz and nice cold taste.
The burger ordered by my companion was on point. Nice and juicy so it was perfect.
For desert we got the apple pie with ice cream and it was ok. There was more flavor in the center than the edges if that makes any sense. The edges felt dry.
Last, the knives and forks we were given were dirty. Dried food was on them. So we opted not to use them. The table had sticky spots too, and the server cleaned it up and we were ok after that.
I think in the future I will ask for plastic utensils at any restaurant which I usually do but decided not to this time.
I mean if the table and utensils are dirty then I question other things, and plus it was really early in the day so not sure the reason.
I was a little disappointed because Applebees was always my spot but not sure if...
Read moreUpon arrival the hosts looked lost and kept shuffling back and forth with the servers who kept telling them they didn’t want to take any more tables. There was about 3 couples waiting to be at and it the tables inside were waiting for food. Obviously no one was eating. The hosts said it be another minute before servers can take any tables. The bar side was completely empty and there was a large girl sitting down with her boyfriend in the far back. The hosts asked if we mind sitting in the bar and we said no. We sat at the bar and the large girl huffed and rolled her eyes so clearly she was the bartender. She gets up and goes to the back and takes her plate and food all pissed off and bothered. We sat and waited over 15 minutes and we are here looking around. She passes by and says I’ll be right with you and continues to talk to her Boy friend who was just sitting there. We called her over and she ignored us. Usually this location always seems understaffed but the very few staff they have obviously don’t want to work. We got up and left and she just glanced at us. If you don’t want your job don’t work there simple as that. Instead of eating and talking get your huge self up and help your teammates. We have been here a couple times and it’s always short staffed but the servers even had in there past have been very nice and at least acknowledge us. a manager is ever in sight. There’s no one to complain or anything so we decided to just walk out. Definitely won’t be back anymore gave this place too many chances. They close at 1am and it’s barley 9pm. Should have seen reviews before coming here from the start. 3 stars even seems to much for this location and that chubby girl needs to go she’s dragging the rest of the few...
