I have been to Stout a few times. The first time was fun, I had a good time. The Blonde bartender tried to force an Uber ride on me which I refused because I had a friend pick me up. The situation was a bit awkward but I think she had good intentions so no harm done... (this was 4 months ago). Fast forward to 10/30, I brought a few friends in to Stout and we had a good time. We talked craft beer with the keep and all was good. I even made a donation to the guys whose apartment burned down, good vibes all around. If I would have made this review before 10/31 it would have been a solid 4 or 5 stars.
10/31: I show up to Stout around 10:30 and I am greeted by the blonde bartender from my first visit with āI remember you...ā. Not my favorite way to be greeted, but itās Halloween and I just got off of work so Iām just happy to have a cold one in front of me. My friend and I order another beer/shot AND the bartender Even offers me her personal slice of pizza once she finds out that Iām hungry.
At this point: 5 stars! Customer service is on point! (We have had 3 drinks in 2 hours)
At around 12, my friend and I leave our seats at the bar to go grab a bite and have a smoke. I let the bartender know and sheās cool with it. When we come back about 20 minutes later I ordered a round of beers and we sat at a table as the bar had filled up. Once those drinks were gone I headed to get another round and my check.
This is where we start dropping stars and fast...
There was a customer at the bar asking questions about the craft selections to the above mentioned blonde bartender, she interrupts him to ask for my order.
Me: Just finish up with him and Iāll get a round when youāre done
Bar: Itās fine I can take multiple orders
Me: oh... ok Iāll have a beer and two shots
Not really sure what happened in the seconds between her asking me for my order and filling his beer, but I overheard her saying something about my āattitudeā to the customer who had clearly never been to Stout before (solid first impressions). I donāt acknowledge that she has made this comment but it was very unprofessional. When she comes back to me, with no drinks mind you, she proceeds to ask me if I heard what she said! I said āyesā and wait for my drinks. She then says to me (and I have never been told this in my life)
Bar: Why donāt I just cash you out now.
A little confused, I reply : Ok why
Bar: Last time you were here I offered you an Uber and you left. I just donāt want to deal with you all night. Every time you come in, you get ācantankerousā. Itās my choice who I serve and I want to cash you out!
(There was nothing about my limited interaction with the bartender that even hinted at being bad tempered or argumentative)
Me: Iām not really sure why you are saying this, but if you donāt want to deal with me then Iād like make my order with your associate.
She whispers something to the other tender and I get ignored for the next 2 minutes before she comes back to again tell me itās her right to refuse me business. At this point she has made a scene and I am extremely frustrated. Even so, I agree to cash out and offer a coupon which I was told at the beginning of the night, when I placed my first order, would be good for a dollar off my tab. I am then informed that my coupon is not valid for the purchases I have made. I pay the tab, no tip. I ask when the manager will be in and I am told to ācall on Monday or maybe Tuesdayā to make sure he is in because he doesnāt have set hours.
Now, I go back to my table and explain that I have been cut off after 4 drinks because I have a ācantankerousā way way about me. Happy Halloween!
2)Donāt talk about customers to other customers. You are representing someone elseās business to the public.
The bartender was rude and unfriendly ! ( female, in her 30s short Hispanic ethnicity looking ) at 2 am the bar is about to close and I went up the bar to close my tab with my friends, I find out she over charged us with 4 extra drinks! I made a complaint and she said it is not her fault because ours names are not familiar to her and we should just use 1 card and she is busy ( she lost guest credit card and arguing with her ) ! I explained there was 4 extra drinks we didnāt have but she didnāt want to hear nothing !! starting raising her voice at me and asking me to come complain to the manager tomorrow!!! then her friend seating at the bar threatened me if I keep complaining she would kick me out ! She even used racist slurs because my name is not sounding familiar to them! This is the picture of the lady that was seated at bar with racist slurs !! I also have video of her screaming with racist slurs but I donāt want post it because there was someone in the video thatās did not want to be appeared here. Anyway! You are at risk to be treated unfairly and maybe over charged ! I won't give it chance ! Lot of business bars are friendly and won't charge you extra or steal your money. I do not recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSat with a group of 9 people, all of us had had about 3 rounds when the announcement comes on that they would be turning on a UFC fight and that anyone who wished to stay must pay cover. Now I've been to plenty of places, and I've never been to a place that retro-actively makes you pay cover. Usually once you are in, you are in. I wasn't there to watch a fight, I was there to drink with some friends.
So 20-30 people leave all at once including my group. Most because because of principle...we obviously weren't there to see a fight. Beyond that, I think it's just poor business. We're all in your establishment (that's what you want, right?) drinking $0.75 beers for $4-$6 each and have done so for an hour and a half. But now you want another $5 (I really couldn't care less about $5) for me to have the privilege to stay in your establishment and do what your establishment is there for...drinking.
I think you should reconsider your policy. It's bad form and bad business. I'm not sure whether I'd go back or not, and I know others felt the same. We all went to Bad Dogz and drank the rest...
