Bubba's 33 — Restaurant in San Antonio

I've always wanted to visit Bubba's and constantly saw a crowd at the entrance, so I was really looking forward to it. Finally went there yesterday, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.

First, about the service: The service was average, just like in most similar restaurants. But one thing really bothered me: we wanted to order a "Mocktail" (zero booze) from the non-alcoholic drinks menu, but the waitress asked us to show ID. We double-checked, asking if the drink was truly alcohol-free, and she confirmed that it was. Yet, she still insisted that we needed to show ID to order it. Since our IDs were left in the car in the parking lot, we had no choice but to order lemonade instead. My question is: what exactly was the waitress thinking when she demanded ID for a non-alcoholic drink?

Now, about the food: Unfortunately, not a single dish we tried was enjoyable. I ordered the signature steak with a coffee marinade, and it was downright awful. Imagine the taste of beef liver and onions fried on a cast-iron skillet that hasn’t been washed in 10 years—that’s exactly what my steak tasted like. You completely ruined a good steak with that coffee marinade. And this is your signature dish?

Next was the pasta. But instead of a proper pasta dish, you served overcooked corkscrew-shaped (SIC!) noodles with a bizarre mix of mushrooms, chicken, and shrimp. Why??? You completely ruined all the ingredients by throwing them together! Pasta isn’t some kind of sloppy mess for livestock! Please, read an actual pasta recipe and stop adding unnecessary ingredients! Just piling more food onto a plate doesn’t make it better—it makes it worse! Focus on quality, not just quantity!

To sum it up, we left extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. I will never visit this restaurant again.

For those wondering whether to go or not, here’s my advice: if you’re looking for an average but atmospheric place to grab a burger and a beer, you’ll probably enjoy it. But don’t expect anything...

I have been a regular at bubbas for years love the place and food or else I wouldn’t go the day before yesterday and yesterday was the worse experience I had after all these years of going so two days ago I had a waitress forgot her name but she was sweet and nice until I waited 12 mins to get my strawberry margarita that I ordered cause she was to busy talking to another waitress so a guy bartender brought it out and on top of that my drink was totally wrong I was so upset and she didn’t even ask me how I wanted my burger so It came out raw a good waitress always ask how would u like it cooked so I also came in yesterday sat at the bar and got a bartender named Sophia she was nice at first I ordered two margaritas and she asked my partner to take her glasses off but never ever I’d us for drinks and my partner is half blind I was so pissed I understand if she did it after she id us but no then she brought us two mango margaritas and im allergic to mango first of all i told her we ordered strawberry remember i don't get in one min how u forgot drinks so after that her whole mood changed she never asked how are drinks where never looked at us after that didn’t ask if we needed anything else like she got upset cause I didn’t want the mango drinks I had to call her and tell her if I can get another round and she says well u need to finish those first I said well I don’t mean at the moment but when they are done which was so rude and uncomfortable then she starts talking to the other bartender about us like we didn’t hear her making us feel so uncomfortable I was scared to ask for anything or a water she was the worse bartender ever I usually leave a good tip but Sophia did not deserve one I’m so disappointed in this customer service that I had out of all these years I will never ever go...

Great atmosphere i agree. Service was not so great. I took the family of about 11 to have lunch. We got seated pretty quick which wasn't a problem. We got our orders in and drinks which wasn't the problem either. When It became a problem was when a bigger party came of about 20 or 30 and our waitress disappeared. I wanted a drink from the bar which was right in front of us so I got up after waiting about 10 minutes for our waitress to get me a drink from the bar and asked the bartender for a drink and she said "NO I'm sorry. I can't sell you a drink you have to ask your waitress and walked away" I called her back and told her that my waitress had been helping the bigger party outside and hasn't come to check on us in about 10 minutes already. She said sorry I can't sell you anything. I was pretty amazed on how she was helpful and tried to Handle the situation with her customer service skills by atleast letting someone know that my party of 11 hasn't been helped or checked on for at least at this time was about 15 minutes. But she couldn't even do that. So I was like okay cool. I'm not a Karen and will never raise a scene any where to embarrass me or my family. So I went and sat back down literally 1 table in front of the bar. We sat there another 10 minutes before our food finally started coming out. So after that my Wife never got her food. Her order was not typed in by the waitress SMH. After finally getting help from the staff that was bringing our food, we finally got everything we ordered minus my drink from the bar.
