Five Guys — Restaurant in San Antonio

I am always fair while writing my reviews and try to be neutral, and this time I have to admit it's not 100% this store's fault but still they need to improved in some areas. The burger was good same as other locations I tried before, the fries were good in taste and quality but the quantity was ridiculously small compare to other locations and when you pay almost $5 dollars for an order of regular french fries... of course you expect a fair amount. Last but not least, the peanuts you can grab from those boxes... omg they were horrible, it seems they leave them air open overnight and of course this cause humidity on them and as result they go from crunchy toasted to a horrible soft texture which tastes awful. So I went to this location with a friend and paid almost $30 dollars for two meals which included: two of their smallest burgers, two medium fries and two drinks... but guess what? Both of us were still hungry after finishing our meals. Honestly this is the last time my friend and I visited five guys and we don't plan to come back ever... I will take my business somewhere else to a restaurant who serves fair portions according to their prices such as Olive Garden which I will review later. Five Guys offers delicious, juicy, burgers with fresh toppings and amazing fries (with the skin on.) We went for lunch and be aware there is no drive thru. The menu consists mostly of burgers in various configurations and fries. Drinks, except for shakes, are self serve. The dining area was very clean and definitely kid friendly.

It's kind of expensive, with most burgers being about $10 and fries and drinks are extra however, most of the burgers are double meat. If you want a single pattie, order one of the Little Burgers. This isn't really clear on the menu but believe me, the Little Burgers are plenty big. They are thick and juicy with amazing buns and the toppings include all sorts of things like mushrooms, bacon, etc.

The fries are fantastic. They are cut from skin on potatoes and perfectly fried.

I got a chocolate shake but it was just meh. I will likely get a soda next time.

All in all, it's very good food served hot and tasty. I had a bit of sticker shock for a place where you order at a counter and go back to get your food when your number is called but heck, everything is...

So many of my friends are wild about this place and I honestly don't see why. It is one of the blandest burgers I've ever had. I have never had to add salt and pepper to a burger in my life but here I had to--do they even season the meat here when they cook it? Bland, greasy burgers that are deeply unimpressive. Since I've heard so many friends say this is THE BEST BURGER PLACE EVAAAAAR I actually went back to try again, thinking maybe the first burger was a fluke--nope. The second trip sucked just as much as the first. The fries are okay, nothing special. I guess it's an okay place, but I really don't understand why people rave about it. Have they never been to Fuddruckers? If you're in a burger mood, do yourself a favor and go get a REALLY good burger...
