"Support Local, Support Small Biz!!" To anyone who wants fo enjoy good sushi and not downtown prices, you need to try Goro's Sushi! Mr. Sanchez is the main manager the times I have come and KNOWS how to take care of regulars. I first tried Goro's back in the early 2000's when I lived in Castle Hills but then moved to Southside, 20 years later and the manager, Armando Sanchez-san, still remembered me and still treated me as family!!. Tonight I had the Sashimi combo and the "Whatever Roll" (chef special choice) my wife had "Sesami chicken", both were fantastic, The Sake and Kirin Ichiban beer I had may have dulled my senses slightly before I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh combination of octopus, salmon, tuna, masagi, and mackerel sashimi, however, with that said, their new (Sho-Une) Junmai Dai Ginjo Sake, had a beautifully smooth flavor that blended fantastically with the sweet and salty flavors of sashimi offered. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS very extremely above par. Bathrooms/Dining room were clean and drinks were served without delay. Jun 10th continuation, tonight I had another "Whatever" roll, very impressed with the sushi chef's picturesque sushi roll creations. Even though they are not on the menu I requested a couple hand rolls (salmon roe/clams) tonight and was pleased with the balance.

Update: I was a complete fkn Karen when I left this review and I was very very HANGRY. I apologize. This place is awesome. Beat sushi in San Antonio. Don't leave reviews when you're hungry and emotional. First, I've been eating here for YEARS, it's my favorite place .... I don't normally walk into a restaurant close to their closing but I was alone and figured one roll wouldn't be a burden .... I walked in at 9:30 - again, alone - I had no idea they stopped seating at that exact time. About 4/5 minutes later the door guy walks to the front and tells me they are no longer taking tables. Yes I understand for larger parties and such, but ONE person who only wanted to order a three amigos roll? I would have been done before the other parties there and they were still making food obviously. It just made no sense to me why he would just turn me away like that. Enjoy this picture of the yummy sushi I ended up getting from Sushishima on military. Apparently they don't mind taking money even if it's close to close for one person only.

SUSHI! It's what you're here for. My wife and I really enjoyed this establishment. We're spoiled coming from Houston having tons of great options and have been trying to find the "one" sushi place we want to call home. Goro's is very close to being that option. We were very pleased with the sushi offerings and the sizes that were given to us. The rolls are very generously stuffed and much larger than I'm used to. One of the rolls we got was cut into ten pieces even! The free miso soup and salad that came before the main course were also a very nice touch. I'm not usually a fan of peanut sauce, but the one on the salad was pretty good. I don't know if Groro's will be the "one", but it will be one that we will visit again. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the waiters were very quick and responsive. I never did see the bottom of my glass, even though we were drinking only water. I highly recommend this place for any sushi lovers in the San Antonio area.

We stopped in for a quick bite (it had been many years since I dined here). My friend had crunchy noodles served in her TEA!!! It wasn't just a few, it was a mess at the bottom of her cup. I kept looking for our server but he was in the back. The man I kept making eye contact with that would NEVER touch the table was the manager.. he was too busy chatting with regulars to even care about addressing the situation. Then, when we brought it to the server's attention, it's like he wasn't even surprised. He just said, "You want more tea?" I had to respond with, "Well.. we don't know if the noodles came from the cup or the actual tea itself. So we're better off with anything fountain." 😑 Our table was NEVER touched by a manager nor apologized to for the disgusting cross-contamination. The only reason why we stayed is because we both are managers in the industry and tried giving the benefit of the doubt. BUT... they will NEVER be given that opportunity again. If a manager is more worried about walking regulars out rather than attending (or even having one chat with) the table who had literal food in their beverage says enough. Poor management=poor service/staff

We ordered the fried calamari and the O-Roll. The dipping sauce for the fried calamari definitely needs to be changed. We had to use squeeze bottle sauces to actually enjoy them. And the O-Roll did taste delicious, but the fact you couldn't grab one piece without the rice collapsing was upsetting. It was a crumbled mess.

I would've given a less score, but I can at least say the dining room was clean and when the server was a round he semi-communicated.

Customer service & hospitality are what will keep your business thriving.. but if the management/ownership doesn't care, it will put everything...

First off I have loved this place since being stationed down in SA, I have always had amazing service as well as food everything for the most part has been absolutely wonderful. Until today, recently they have stopped answering the phones and or picking up and hanging up on you, when asked today be a man that I suppose is the boss whom up until today I have had so much respect for stated “the phone lines are wonky” I understood and continued to proceed with my order after driving 30 mins as not able to order over phone he stated it would be 45 mins in a tone I have never encountered which I found strange basically deterring me from ordering with a 45 wait which wasn’t that deep so I proceeded cashed out I asked him was he okay he was not his usual friendly, professional self I take it he didn’t like my question and sarcastically laughed and stated he was always fine. No biggie returned to my car to wait. After 54 mins giving it some time I walked inside and was meet with a crowd of people I understood, however, I saw a take out order as he came to the lobby about 7 times no exaggeration needed and not once stated my order was ready now almost waiting over 1 hr and 20 mins I walked to grab my order as I walked he blatantly showed his passive aggressive attitude and walked away as I need a few condiments I asked another staff member to assist. I am not pleased by the interaction upon today and would like to express that when people come to spend there hard earn money respect and common courtesy is the least you can show regardless of what day you may have it is a business and no one should be treated as such. And for you sir walking away and ignoring me shows how weak and unprofessional you are. Great food horrible attitude today you need a...
