A great steakhouse experience! If our service was a little better and our steaks a little more fresh, this dinner would’ve been closer to a 5 star experience. Unfortunately, I felt like we waited a little too long for each interaction with the staff and our waiter, leading us to wait for drinks/refills. Besides that though, all of the food we ordered was very good. For starters, the Grilled Tequila Shrimp was delicious. The flavor and amount of the sauce provided was perfect and definitely left us wanting more. The Potato Crusted Calamari was solid, with the peppers and sauce providing a good mix of flavors and textures. The steaks were all cooked perfectly and had great crusts, but came out more room temp than piping hot. That threw us off a bit, but not enough to disappoint the meal. The side sauces were hit or miss, with the Roquefort being the better of the two and the Cognac Pepper being more lackluster. The side dishes of Lobster Risotto and Susie’s Famous Mashed Potatoes were both good, but not great. All three of our desserts were tasty and gave us a tasty end to our dining experience. The Chocolate Mousse Cake that came with one of our Restaurant Week orders was a nice mix of textures, with the candied pecans and chocolate chips on top making each bite better than the last. The Half Baked and Chocolate Tres Leches Cake were amazing and ended up being nice compliments to one another. Worked out perfectly for our group, as some wanted a more chocolate-heavy dish and others wanted something more balanced. Overall, it was a pretty solid dinner. I’ll likely look into other options next time, but would still recommend it for anyone looking for a nice steak experience.

Business trip took us to San Antonio to meet up with some friends. They are regulars at this superb steakhouse. I am very very very picky on my Ribeye steaks and this was spot on. They have a green peppercorn sauce that pairs up so well with the steak. Our sides were mashed potatoes, a scrumptious Mac-n-cheese, & Brussels sprouts. We started with their incredible Carpaccio with the drizzled balsamic glaze!!! Yuuuum! The ambiance was peaceful & elegant. So inviting we stayed over 3 hrs.

Like a higher class version of TGIFridays. The restaurant is dim like a normal fine dining restaurant. That's great until the waiter brings you an iPad to review the wine list. It's like staring at the sun. They are listed in one giant column. It's excruciating. I tried hard to avoid using the iPad but the waiter seemed somehow unable to recommend a decent wine specifically. Just that they had "a lot" and they were in the iPad. So I quickly picked something as I burned out my retinas.

Having gotten the wine selected I asked the waiter if they had any chef's specials. He again handed me the iPad. I refused and asked him to simply tell me about them. He could not. We ordered off of the menu. The strange thing was that while the wine and specials were on an iPad the menu was a single sheet of cheap paper. It felt like some prix fix menu on Mother's Day or something. It was the entire menu.

I will say that the scallops we ordered as an appetizer were cooked to perfection. I was very pleased with them. My wife watched me eat that night because my wife's steak, ordered medium, came out well done and gray. It took so long to get it replaced my food was getting cold. My entree was unmemorable. That being said I paid absolute top dollar for it. Over $300 for a table of two. This is not an unexpected price for me or at all uncommon for date night. The low budget execution and presentation made this exorbitant though. They charged us full price even after botching the meal badly. I should have asked for it to be removed but it's not something I do. If they can't manage their customer service they will just never see my face or money again.

The waiter missed a huge opportunity to sell the food and actually communicate with us. Who works in fine dining without having a few bottles of wine memorized? Why would you even come up with chef's specials without ensuring that your waitstaff memories it? Service is really the only thing that separates you from being a basic chain restaurant. Especially in Texas where you can get awesome food everywhere and San Antonio where competition is fierce.

I'll stick with the half dozen restaurants within two miles of this one. I would recommend passing...

We have been there multiple times and have had a bad experience, nonetheless we give it another shot expecting our experience will change but it hasn’t. We were there 03/23/24 to celebrate a friends birthday. Being a high end and well known steak house I’d expect them to know how to cook a steak, nevertheless two members of the party myself included had to send back our steak. I speak for mine, it was OVER cooked to well done!! They bring it back under cooked and the waiter asks “ can you please cut into it” shining a flash light at my plate he should know that what I was cutting into was not what I ordered! I kept my mouth shut because I was overly disappointed and upset. I wasn’t going to argue while I was there for my friends birthday celebration but the waiter should have picked up instantly that just as I cut into my steak instantly moved my plate to the side. We paid over 500.00 that evening for two people and for them to completely mess up my steak not once but twice is ridiculous. Moving on to my husband, he ordered king crab legs asked for pricing and also asked the waiter if the half order would be a good portion. The waiter said the half order was 75.00 but didn’t think it would be filling so my husband ordered the full order. When we got our check he paid 225.00 for a full order!?!? How do you go from 75 to 225 and let me tell you they weren’t that great!! Again we didn’t argue we paid the check since we were there for a party and didn’t want to argue. The service was terrible I had to ask for more water, he just never cared to refill glasses he also NEVER asked me if I cared for another cocktail, AND also messed up tickets. We where there for 4 hours due to service being so slow and steaks being messed up; horrible on so many levels! We have had issues in the past with our steak, we didn’t complain or left a bad review, we didn’t even send our steak back we just thought it was a busy night for them, but having this happen over and over is not ok specially since it’s not a cheap tab! My husband has done bourbon tastings at Kirby’s and quit going since he said they were getting too crowded with no where to sit and simply not enjoyable anymore....
