Caveat emptor is a Latin term that means "let the buyer beware." As soon as you walk into Little Woodrow’s the first thing you notice is the atmosphere. It seems like a great place to come eat, drink , relax by one of the many fire pits play outdoor games like corn hole, mini golf or connect 4 .They have mister fans for when the heat index is high. Or you can stay indoors where it is cool and other games or the giant TVs have sports playing all night they have over 50 beers on tap and a nice selection of hard liquor. However, the staff is just not very educated in the hospitality business. You walk in and the first feeling you get is a vast place in the middle of which I am abandoned, I have to find my own seat and you must signal the staff to let them know you came in and need service. Some of the wait staff past right by us just to not have to attend to our needs. To say service was poor is to give them credit of one star from what I would rate the service to be,,,, what a shame. The beer was cold, wet and inexpensive it was happy hour $3.75 for 22oz mugs of Ziegenbock,,,,me ,,,very happy we should have stopped their but NO I needed to order food. I frequent places like this because I am looking for one that has all of these qualities with good food at a good price. All too often I find places that have all these nice amenities and a very comfortable and inviting and the food that is crappy or way overpriced,,, they just don't get it . All the successful restaurants in New York that I know of have found this to be Paramount,,,, service has to be good the food has to be good and the price has to be right and those places stay around for decades. If they hit the right price point and the food was good it would be packed every night.
I have simple standards and I always judge any place I go by three things that all bar restaurants need to have and that's good nachos, good wings and a great burger so I searched their menu for those three items.
I found those three items. I ordered the Ultimate Nachos with chili , the 6-piece buffalo wings bone in with blue cheese and what they call their colossal Burger a $12.50 Burger. I must mention that because in their advertisement and claimed to have a nice mixture that I use for my personal cooking of Chuck, brisket, and round as being the base of their meat for their burger. That intrigued me right off the bat because it's an excellent blend and should have made for excellent burger. The nachos came they were they were big but something was not right the flavor was not right and I believe it was the meat, I believe the meat was old and it tasted like a couple of days old the wings were okay a little lack of wing sauce and slightly overcooked but the burgers my biggest contention this was truly a gross miscarriage of Justice in what they did to that burger the Patty was flattened to the point where it was a hockey puck there was no juice whatsoever and it was hard I was so upset by this meal I didn't even take pictures the one thing that was good there was we had a very delightful waitress finally take care of us and her name is Rocky. She was so cute and so bubbly and she wanted to be very helpful but not having any real Hospitality training she really didn't know what to do. When I told her about the burger she just smiled and walk away and said let me get the check. Not let me get my manager or let me see how I can make this right. So I paid and we left. Like I say in all my reviews I'll always give a place a second chance. If i do go back i will order one thing a plain burger if it comes like the last than i would only come for the beer. 70...
Read moreWARNING!! DO NOT GO HERE!! My husband and I went to Little Woodrow’s on 606 W Afton Oaks in San Antonio and our vehicle was broken into right in their parking lot. We called police and submitted a report, we also informed the manager. The male manager on staff on 4/22/2025 at around 7:15pm was very non-caring and stated “I’m not going to lie, this happens pretty often”. I then proceeded to ask if there were cameras anywhere facing the parking lot since they knew this happens often, he said no. Then I asked if he knew if the building next door had cameras and he said that they did not have cameras. Idk how he could possibly know, but that’s what he told us. He showed no empathy or concern for us, which really wouldn’t have made a difference, but this is such poor customer service and the fact that the location is aware of this criminal activity against their customers and have no security on staff, signs that warn customers, or cameras facing the parking lot is extremely unsettling. This store DOES NOT care about its customers AT ALL! I already left my “feedback” on the Little Woodrow’s website.
Also, I saw another review after the fact, that another car had been broken into. I doubt anything was done to help that customer. Surprised this location is still operating. Should’ve read the reviews before I went...
Read moreI was disappointed with my experience here. My only caveat is that I do not frequently go to bars, so I don't have a lot to frame my perspective. I did sample a beer, but the bartender seemed frustrated because I asked for a recommendation for something that was a brown or an amber. It stumped her at first, and finally she could only think of one. Either she does not know the menu or they just don't have a lot of selection besides the normal American garbage blondes. Regardless, the amber that she finally gave me was flat (and all the blondes my friend tried were flat, too).
I did not mention the probable CO2 problem. I just quietly went back to my table and ordered a Dr. Pepper. The server asked if I wanted another one after I finished the first, but she never brought it after I affirmed her suggestion. The fries were okay. The wings were nothing exceptional, but not terrible either. I didn't get to try anything else on their menu.
The atmosphere is probably nice for a bar. They had lots of screens probably to watch sports, but during the day I felt it was more distraction than entertaining. There were a few games, but I didn't play. Like I said, the environment may have been more inviting if I was one to frequent the type of establishment. Overall, my experience did not encourage me to...
