Marble Slab Creamery — Restaurant in San Antonio

Arrived with a large group (20 people) a little before 9:30 pm. Closing was at 10 pm. There were two employees in the store, one of which was sweeping when we arrived and disappeared into the back when we came in. The remaining employee started serving us and the other employee came out of the back to run the cash register. Then three young men entered the store from across the parking lot, went to the back and one came out with an apron. One of the employees stated that they were off duty employees that were hanging around the parking lot and came to help get us through the store. That was awesome except only one of them washed their hands before serving ice cream. The one with the curly hair that kept the grey hoodie on the entire time never washed his hands. He is also was the one that seemed to be giving the orders. They stated that they could not serve us any shakes or mixings; they could only serve just ice cream. All of us were served within 10 minutes. After which they told us that the dining room was closed and we had to stand outside. This was at 9:40 pm. It was also 52 degrees outside and most of our group were not adults. They then proceeded to pick up the outside tables as we were standing around the tables and moved them inside and closed the store 10 minutes after they ushered outside. The young man that was telling us the dining room was closed was not even one of the employees supposedly on duty. There was a Mercedes outside with what looked like parents waiting for one of the employees and one of them kept coming in and talking with one of the employees. I love, love, love marble slab, so imagine my disappointment with such a concerning experience here. When I can in, around 8, there was one person in the lobby, on their phone, who did not put it away throughout my entire visit. The gentleman who did end up serving me couldn't be older than 16, like the other person "working" the front. My ice cream was under portioned, cramming a third of a scoop of each flavor into a single cup, while being wildly over portioned with toppings, 2-3 scoops each. The other person behind the counter seemingly didn't even notice I was almost done with my transaction, because they were still on their phone before chasing me out. Needless to say, I must've missed when marble slab decided we weren't worth spending entire scoops of ice cream on anymore, nor did I catch the memo about completely unprofessional service being acceptable now. Needless to say, I won't be back. If you think you'll get any kind of worth while experience here, I encourage you to visit one of the other, much better run locations along...

I’ve been here a few times over the past year and I have noticed a few things. There are a two younger boys that work there that are nice and friendly. They look alike and definitely hustle so I appreciate that.

The workspace where they scoop and mix the ice cream seems to be kept clean, but I’ve noticed some other things that could use attention. If I were the manager I would take a minute to address the cleanliness of the machines , drawers where cones are kept, the glass displays and the areas of the counter that are a little out of their normal work areas.
