Not exactly sure what happened this morning but there were some issues at the Taco Cabana at 281 and bitters. I ordered the new kielbasa jalapeno sausage taco, a kielbasa jalapeno sausage, a beyond meat crispy taco and beyond meat nachos. My husband's bowl was primarily egg hardly any beans and maybe five or six little coins of sausage on top. He said it was flavorful and he had no complaints. I on the other hand had some issues. My crispy Taco came in a box that had so much liquid it should have been crispy taco soup. My beyond meat nachos were as unappealing visually as they were unappealing in the mouth. the beyond meat and the nacho cheese were fine but each individual chip was like chewing on the styrofoam container that the taco came in. Each and every chip was a horror to put in my mouth. Now let's talk about the kielbasa jalapeno sausage taco, shall we? They gave me country sausage egg and cheese. The taco shown on the menu and on the little advertisement sign by the speaker box shows the taco filled with sausage potatoes chorizo beans aka chori beans. on the sign it looks very tasty very pleasing to the eye quite appealing so I ordered it. THEY GAVE ME A COMMON COUNTRY SAUSAGE EGG AND CHEESE TACO AND THEN WHEN I TRIED TO RETURN IT TO THEM THEY TOLD ME WE DON'T DO COUNTRY EGG AND CHEESE TACOS HERE MA'AM. THE FLIP NATURE OF HIS RESPONSE PROMPTED ME TO QUICKLY WHISPER AN F-BOMB. I SAID YOU JUST GAVE ME THIS TACO IN THIS EXACT DRIVE-THRU. He asked me to drive up and the general manager came to the window and was very personable and nice UNTIL he started speaking to me as if I had downs syndrome. He proceeded to talk to me about the differences between their sausage tacos. I told him flat out which one I wanted so he said he would go back and make it. I felt he was being quite condescending when he brings the open Taco to the window to show me it's ingredients exposed to all the heir to the dirt to the dust outside just held the tortilla open in the Drive-Thru has stuck in out the window and said IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT? I was so stunned that my taco was just out there exposed to the air that I just calmly said yes thank you. He gave me my taco and we drove away. I know what you're thinking. That I'm going to go home open up the taco and it's going to be exposed to the air anyway. It just took me off guard. I am not accustomed to the tacos being out in the open I'm used to them being in the kitchen tidally wrapped in foil put in a bag and then presented to me that way I have never had anyone oppose the taco to me with all of its ingredients just open and stuck in my face that way in my car window. I mean I understand what the standards are of a commercial kitchen I understand that eating in my car is a lot different than eating at the corner of 281 and bitters out in the open with the car exhaust in the dirt flying everywhere it's different than having a picnic at the park. Perhaps I'm making too much of it but but bottom line it just took me off guard to have the entire contents of my taco exposed to all the pollution anything and everything flying around in the wind at the corner of 281 and bitters. I won't be making the mistake of going there again meat nachos. If I do I will go to the location in San Marcos because they're super clean they're super nice and just cool. yeah I said it I will go to San Marcos to Taco Cabana before I eat at a San Antonio Taco Cabana. all that being said the flavor was good the flavor was there it was just all presented wrong. Attached you will see a photo of the beyond meat nachos. they could at least used to be made more attractive with maybe some shredded lettuce or some fresh tomato instead of just thrown in there to get soggy and tastes like Styrofoam when we opened them immediately to eat it was just not a tasty or...
Read moreRude managers. So upsetting. It's Tues, Oct 3rd, evening shift 9:30p. I have tried calling 16 times to the business and no answer and they send to voice-mail. I am trying to lodge my complaint that my food was cold and the taco shells were hard and stale. No answer. The managers here NEVER interact with the customers. I am not generalizing or making it up. It seems beneath them to help and speak with customers. They stay in the back and make Chips and tacos. If you have an issue and one needs to come from back - they are unbelievably rude. This has happened three times to me already and judging by these reviews they have been doing it to plenty of other customers as well. There is only one guy - and that guy needs to train your others. He works drive-thru with glasses and is always presentable, clean, shirt tucked in. All the other employees resemble how your managers treat their customers. And it's the GM allllll the way down to the shift managers because nothing has changed. I should've written this review two weeks ago when it was freezing cold inside the building and the young man wouldn't change the temp. He said, (and I quote) "My boss keeps it cold in here at night so people won't stay to eat and make a mess - and I like that." Well, after that I got upset, threw my food and just left. Why do I keep going back? Because I used to love Taco Cabana before it turned into what it is now. Your management doesn't care to help guests. Your management can't even be bothered to answer the phone. Of course your hourly staff cannot excel because they are only doing what is taught by their bosses. I've held my tongue about this location for months. After reading these other reviews from the past months I see they're doing it to everyone.
Instead of a generic, canned reply - get a hold of your staff and read them this review. Save your thank you's for my...
Read moreI actually was picking up a couple Uber orders but was considering ordering for myself too because I was hungry. When I walked in nobody was in the front but people were in the kitchen. I stood there for approximately five minutes. 3 people looked at me, two of them more than once but never said anything. Finally, a man came out and asked had I been helped. I told him had not at all. I asked was there a magnet. He said he was the manager. I told him I'd been standing tge for sincei've before being acknowledged though 3 people looked at me.He then gave the most dismissive apology. Then there eas an issue with inner of thre orders as through Uber they were scheduled to be picked up but the restaurant had the order not needing to be ready until an hour later. No big deal, I just needed to call Uber. I tried relaying it to the mgr but he just was really aggresive with how he dealt with it. Then as I was on the phone he went and told another guy, I suppose another mgr. This guy was almost worse with how he talked to me lol. I've worked in customer service over 20 yrs and I know it's not an easy industry to work in but there was no reason for that poor level of customer service. I don't know if it wad because I was a black man, how I was dressed, or whatever. It doesn't matter, in my opinion, you don't treat people like that as toy never know who you're entertaining. Also I got the corporate number and called. I was on hold for 15 minutes. I'm bit from Texas and Taco Cabana has been referred to me a number of times and I was going to try it but I'll never patronize...
