We stopped by this new sports bar, and the first San Antonio location of McIntyre's. I normally like to frequent businesses that are locally owned and operated, however McIntyre's has a locally owned food truck called Garcia Barbecue on site, and their food is MAD delicious.
It was around 12 PM on a Sunday (today) and the place was pretty empty, which was good for me. I normally try to stop by new businesses on random slow times, such as during the weekdays or right when they open on a Sunday.
We sat at the bar and enjoyed the beautiful open ambiance of the building. It's this beautiful open indoor outdoor flow to it, which is one of my favorite concepts, second to rooftop bars with covered mesh canopies. Outside they had these huge swings that are an influencer's dream.
There are TV's everywhere, which is awesome because it is technically a sports bar, so all the trendy social media concepts of the business can be a little misleading. I could see myself watching a game here but ONLY if they played the sound for the game, as opposed to the pretty awesome top 40 they normally play throughout the day.
The bartender was very helpful and made a solid cocktail recommendation that was the perfect amount of sweet, boozy, and refreshing. If you go, I highly suggest your order the "It's Always Sunny In San Antonio."
We waited for Garcia Barbecue to set up their truck, since we got there at the same time as they did. I have reviewed Garcia Barbecue on Yelp and Google, so feel free to jump to that review because their El Mero Mero sandwich is out of this world. I felt the holy spirit on this, the day of the LORD! Its a big girl sandwich packed with every meat on the menu, and totally worth its weight in gold. I am pretty sure I proposed to it.
I could see myself coming back here for steak night and hanging out with my friends when it is not crazy busy and some of the hype dies down. I like to ensure my customer experience doesn't suffer due to a business being extremely busy.

Read moreGreat bar! Awesome location! Definitely adding something new and refreshing to the Southtown area. Service: 10/10, initially we were a bit confused on how service worked. We initially sat at a cocktail table but had to go to the bar to order our drinks, sometime after a cocktail server came by a couple times to check on us but didn’t return after her second table touch, and she remained behind the bar. While waiting at the bar to close my tab I encountered, Victoria, she was very helpful at the end which made for a great service recovery! Food : 10/10. McIntyres doesn’t offer food. However, there is a food truck, Garcia’s Barbecue. We ordered the sliders, one of each. MUST HAVE! Service was great and the food did not fall short! Super tasty, highly recommend! Lastly, I rated this place a 4/5 because however much we enjoyed our time there, the atmosphere, food, and service, we thought their TV coordination was quite poor. The NFL playoffs are about to kick off and some really important games were on this past Sunday, and I’m assuming that because McIntyres is originally from Houston the pay homage to Houston by having the Texans game on a majority of their TVs. However, from a sports fan and consumer standpoint some flexibility in the game viewing selection is important and ultimately was the reason we left a short 45 minutes into our visit. We asked if one of the larger screen TVs could be changed and the manager refused. With such a great TV setup, McIntyres may want to consider having their managers be a little more in-the-know about sports, and current sport events. It won’t be our place of choice for watching sports but we would...
Read moreMy friends and I came here to watch the NBA draft. After about pick 10-11, the DJ and employees decided that it was more important to play the Jonas Brothers and Drake instead of the stream audio despite there being an upcoming Wemby interview. Even though the Spurs didn't have any remaining picks, there was also still a chance they could be involved in a trade. When my boyfriend asked if the audio could be changed to the draft stream, he was rudely and condescendingly told by an employee that he was only "1 of 150 people here." Right, so the 149 other people in Spurs jerseys came to listen to the DJ's glorified Spotify playlist and not the draft for a generational talent where we have the first pick and are rebuilding? Don't advertise a draft party with sound on if you're going to ignore the patrons that are there to SEE THE DRAFT and play terrible music instead. Embarrassing that this self-proclaimed "number 1 sports bar" thinks it's patrons prefer listening to a 10 year old Bruno Mars song over sports coverage. Even more embarrassing is that when I posted this complaint on their Instagram, instead of responding to the issue, they deleted...
