So let me start off by saying the food was absolutely amazing - to die for! The steak was the best I’ve ever had and literally melted in my mouth. My table had most of the appetizers from menu and they were all fantastic! The ambiance and design of the restarting also offers a great setting and would be a good spot for a date. I went with a group of around 10 of my co-workers needing to pay using separate cards. We asked our main server well in advance of finishing if we could all have separate checks and he looked at us like we were crazy and rolled his eyes as he begrudgingly left the room. A few of us had ordered a cocktail and as we were paying with a corporate credit card asked if we could also have our drink on the side to pay separately and the server lost his s%#*. “You want me to split all the checks AND split the alcohol?” He was absolutely dumbfounded and appalled that we would ask such a request. As he was clearing the table he was acting childish after that and now loudly taking our plates and basically throwing them on the serving tray, constantly sighing. He obviously didn’t think we could hear him but I also heard him swearing under his breathe like we were now some huge burden on him. It took him a solid 30 minutes to bring our checks which was fine because we were still enjoying our meal but once we gave him our cards, WE SAT THERE 45 MINUTES WAITING FOR HIM. Every once in a while his helpers would come nicely apologize for the delay (side note the helpers were very nice it was the main server that was rude). Finally he brought our checks, still sighing, dropping them in front of us. We were all in shock and dumbfounded - we WERE a routy group but we were in a private dining room and he was playing along with us the whole time up until we requested the checks to be split so we were thrown off guard. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants as I am a corporate traveler and have been treated better at places a FRACTION of the price here. He added an automatic 20% gratuity and we EASILY had a $1,000 tab among the table. I wouldn’t have given him a dime of a tip after he acted. In retrospect we should have asked for the manager but were so over the night and it was a buzzkill for the rest of our evening. I nor any of my friends and as many coworkers as I can share with will never eat here again just because of this server. He was so unprofessional that our first impression of the place makes us never want to go back. Charlie was his name - included a photo of my check. The hand written tip was him who automatically added gratuity (which is understandable due to table size).

God help you when you go it's dark you cannot see the person sitting across the table from you if you sit in a booth ask for a table in the center or I urge you to sit outside. If you have a flashlight on your cell phone you will need it. The waiter will see you using your flashlight and will promptly bring you an LED table lantern for your reading pleasure. The jalapeno mac and cheese was piping hot had the essence of jalapeno without the burn the flavor was there. The stuffed tomatoes filled with gorgonzola and bread crumbs were so good they inspired me to make some at home. (They came out wonderfully at home too) the house Margarita perfection. The wine list was quite extensive and pricey. I had sparkling wine and it was perfect. We had the chopped salad which we were told was big enough for two. It was not, however, it was very rich with feta cheese and blue cheese crumbles. My husband had the wedge salad with thousand island and as simple and eighties a dish as it is, it did not disappoint. Husband and I both got rare ladies cut filet mignon. Cooked two perfection. I did my little trick of dropping the fork on the floor. All of my faith and humanity was restored when that fork was picked up in 20 minutes. But to their credit people had started to trickle in quite quickly for dinner. Dessert Rich decadent and well worth it. I had the brownie which was a rich dark chocolate with chocolate chips served warm- this thing was HUGE!! Logically we could have split it but I ate half and brought the other half home. My partner in crime had the biggest slab of cheesecake we had ever seen with a mixed berry compote on top and a cream that had a mild banana flavor. All total are bill for our early dinner was $171. AND GUILTY AS CHARGED WE WOULD DO IT ALL AGAIN!!!

I just proposed to my long time partner yesterday and I wanted us to have a private, classy and quiet place to celebrate together We live 1 hour away from San Antonio and I wasn't able to booked for us Still I managed to take my fiancee and drove to town for Myron's Prime Steakhouse My bestfriend recommended me this place and he is a food freak so I am expecting something that will excite and satisfied us both at the same time As we reach the place, upon entering the staff welcomed us with huge smile and server assisted us directly to our table Well, I wasn't expecting that we will get immediately a table for us but I can say it's worth an hour drive When they knew that we are newly engaged the management gave us a free cake to celebrate It was Miguel who served us and absolutely he was very approachable, attentive and informative to all our queries about the menu Their steak comes with huge portions and it it absolutely delicious The best steak ever we would say and I am speechless with the Shrimp Remoulade.. superb! The place is cozy, great ambiance and interiors.. Super clean and it makes you feel like at home Definitely bringing our family here for a dinner celebration in the coming weeks to come Highly approved and recommended! Thank you for the great service! We both had fun and satisfied

I have often heard Myron's is the best steak in San Antonio. I have heard the same about Ruth's Cris. These are both "high end" steak houses and while I haven't been to the San Antonio Ruth's Cris I did go in another city so have been to two high end steak houses now. Not something I generally do but had a groupon so last night we went to Myron's.

These are our impressions:

ATMOSPHERE - Very nice , Classy looking restaurant....nice atmosphere but a little dark. Found it a bit hard to read the menus. SERVICE - was overall very good. James, our server, was extremely polite and knew the menu well. I am not sure whether he checked on us after we got our steaks but perhaps he did once. We overheard other tables being offered more bread, etc. but ours was gone. Someone did bring me more iced tea after we were finished and he brought us the dessert menu about the same time. PRICES - Very High but I knew that going into this. SALAD/SOUP - My wife really liked the chopped salad...said it was really great. I had the soup dejour, a jalapeno chedder bisque which was good. STEAKS - Myron's is known for its steaks so I went in with great expectations. They were good but not great so we were a little disappointed. My wife got the Kansas City Filet. Seasoning on this filet was very good but there seemed to be a bit too much gristle. I got the filet and shrimp...seasoning was not as good on this but it was good. Our MAIN Disappointment with the steak was that my wife ordered hers MEDIUM and I ordered mine MEDIUM RARE. Unfortunately, they were swapped. Hers was medium rare and mine medium. We know we could have sent them back but did not...we were hungry. After dinner was concluded we asked our server if we had perhaps asked for the wrong doneness on our steaks and he, without even looking said my wife's should have been medium and mine medium rare so it was a kitchen mistake.

CONCLUSION - If there is one thing a high end steak house should be able to do is to get your steak cooked just as you ordered it. I mentioned Ruth's Cris at the beginning of my review largely because when we ate at Ruth's Cris though I had ordered my rib eye medium rare it came out medium well. That time I sent it back this time I did not. I just didn't want to wait while they re-fired our steaks. If you are paying $40-$50 for a steak it should be cooked just as you ordered it and you should not have to send it back. I give three stars only because our steaks were not cooked properly...this should not happen in a place like this...for the prices being paid for the food the entire experience should be outstanding....I am 0 for 2 at these high end steak houses.

SO....would I go back to Myron's...I doubt it.....If I am going to spend that much money for dinner I would much rather go to one of the Brazilian Steak Houses in the area. They are a much better value for the money...pretty much as "elegant", have VERY attentive servers...dinner costs about the same (actually less) but you get that huge salad/vegetable bar and all the steak and meat you can eat. Just can't beat that!....BUT hey...this is just my opinion...I know many LOVE these two...

UPDATE 2.0 My original review was a 1 star review. The experience was so bad that my girlfriend and I were skeptical and borderline afraid to return, we even left a scathing review, so you can tell this review is genuine in every respect. The chef from the original review has been let go and now a chef worth their salt is in the kitchen! Long story short: 5 star service, 5 star food.

The difference between the first time we went and tonight is night and day.

Once again upon coming up to the establishment there was someone waiting to open the door for us when we reached about 15 feet away which was very nice, Ruth Chris and Perry's don't even offer that courtesy.

The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and well mannered, he gave honest opinions and recommendations. Attentive and courteous which made us feel that he was actually grateful that we had come. It's a good feeling to be in that kind of environment.

But as always the real test is the food: First, they've fixed the bread and butter situation. The bread was hot and soft this time with a fresh flavor and the butter was normal butter, as opposed to last time where the butter had a tangy strange and strong flavor to it; meaning the restaurant learned from the feedback and improved their food choices, which shows a lot in restaurant management.

The lobster bisque had a rich and strong flavor to it, with the lobster chunks melting in my mouth. The bowl was empty in 5 minutes with the remainder mopped up with my bread.

The appetizer, which was my personal favorite, would have me driving across state just to have it again. I am referring to the wasabi seared tuna. This tuna had the perfect texture and perfect flavor, and for those of us that love heat with our fish, they had a shiner bock mustard drizzle the plate that you could run your tuna across as well as some fresh wasabi on the side. I lived in Japan for 4 years and never had fish this good. My taste buds were in heaven and my girlfriend was annoyed at how much I was raving about it.

The coffee tasted standard but that's not why you come here anyway.

The garlic mashed potatoes and scalloped potatoes complimented the steak perfectly and both of our plates were polished off.

Now for the main dish: The steaks. I ordered a medium rare bone-in ribeye oscar style, my date ordered a medium rare filet. Cooked to perfection with an unmatched flavor and melted in my mouth, I left GLOWING.

As for my date, I can't speak for her. However I can tell you that no matter what restaurant we go to she only takes a few bites of her food, takes the rest to go, and never eats it after it ends up in the fridge. However her plate was CLEAN this time. She even finished her steak before I finished mine.

5 star service. 5 star food. Will come back again, if not for the steak, that tuna which...

What an expensive mistake. The experience was so poor, we thought we were getting pranked. We went to celebrate my birthday, party of two. Combined, we ordered "Myron style" ribeye (topped with shrimp and sauce), bone-in ribeye both medium, a loaded baked potato, jalapeño mac and cheese- one wheel lettuce and chopped salad. Chopped salad wasn't my favorite, no big deal, it's just a salad. We had to ask our waiter numerous times and remind him of our bread.

Our waiter-- made it a point to ONLY address my male date. He would blatantly look directly at him, ask him how he was doing, ask about his meal, ask if everything was ok, even at the end, he thanked him, wished him a safe drive and happy holidays. Even while knowing we were celebrating my birthday. There were times that he would refill his drink only then minutes later finally see me in the sidelines with an empty glass and do his job. When I would finally ask him questions about my meal or anything, he would totally invade my personal space and be LITERALLY inches away from my face and to top it off, with bad breath.

My ribeye was undercooked so he took it to the back to put a little more fire on it. Second time around, it was good. When he brought out our meal, the waiter unwrapped the baked potato from the foil and handled it with his bare hands, flipping and tossing and opening up the potato!! Gross!

I guess we are used to GREAT service but our table wasn't cleared throughout the evening and that was another disappointment. Especially for a $200 check.

Alas, the moment I knew I would never come back is when the waiter gave us a comment card to fill out towards the end while waiting for our check. He was adamant on us filling it out and made us fully aware the comments we leave of him were seen and they (employees) have a raffle going on with that. He then gave us the check, and waited for us to fill out the comment card before picking up the check when we were ready to pay. I am not a jerk, so I ended up leaving a comment of the food. I mentioned that the steak was good the second time around, and the mac & cheese was delicious. When he picked up the check, he read the comment card, invading my personal space, and 2 inches away from my face asked me with LITERALLY, a sad puppy face if I was going to leave a comment of him on there. I awkwardly avoided answering.

I think overall, what contributed to the bad experience was the waiter. And that is unfortunate for the restaurant. It is very overpriced, for the experience we had. But mostly, as a female, I was offended the entire night when I wasn't addressed. It was sexist and a horrible experience for what should have been a...
