People from San Antonio warn there is NO "great" restaurants on the Riverwalk. In fact some say there are not even any "good" restaurants on the Riverwalk. After eating at this dreck, I wonder if there is even any "mediocre" restaurants on the Riverwalk. My wife and I were exhausted and famished after a busy day during which we had little opportunity to eat. Insultingly, Google ACTUALLY recommended this mediocrity, and upon entering, my wife and I were greeted by a deceptively simple, yet still confusing set up. The bar is located right-angle to the entrance...but there is NO WAY to know where to sit, and how to order. The bar tender is positioned so that they gave away from the entering customer, and therefore cannot assist. My wife and I stood there, confused, not knowing how to proceed until the bartender noticed us and gestured us to a counter in the back where apparently EVERY customer must order. Navigating through several table and chairs in the way, we made our way to an older woman who took our order and explained (again!) the deceptively simple yet confusing menu. This was made difficult because this individual FORGOT her glasses, and thus entered our orders incorrectly. My wife and I only discovered this when they brought TWO entire baskets of chips when we ordered chips, salsa and cheese dip, when we believed we had clearly informed the glassless lady and she came around to verify our order while squinting. Yes, we were charged for both baskets. On to the food. My wife said that her chicken enchiladas were "okay" and "average." I found my tortilla soup to be the same... except the broth had the salty consistency and taste of Campbell's. While we sat and ate, we watched a parade of people enter - each confused on where to go and how to order, until they were gestured towards the back counter. This establishment is set up in an ignorant, client antagonizing fashion, and if it were not as clean as sparkling clean as it was - I would rate this one star. Do better Riverwalk.

It’s hard to find the entrance, so let me help you out. There’s signage on the Dolorosa street side, but there’s no entrance from there. You have to walk into Main Plaza and then go down the abbey on the left side of San Fernando cathedral. No signage; look for a door with a sign hanging over it that just says “cafe.” It's not a bad place to eat. Enchilada verdes with rice and beans was $7.59. The rice and beans were good, but the enchiladas were lacking a bit. Not terrible mind you, they were just missing a little something-something. The breakfast tacos are good. Let’s face it folks, the only thing that makes or breaks a breakfast taco is the tortilla that it arrives in. Although they don’t have the best tortillas in the world, they’re good for the area and for the price. The papas ranchero taco and the papas a la Mexicano taco are the exact same taco. When I ordered the papas a la Mexicano, the guy running the counter seemed confused and had to look at the menu. I think it must have thrown the cooks for a loop too, so they just made a papas ranchero taco. It’s a walk up order counter, then they call your number when your food is ready. Good for groups. Most of the tables seat 6 and there’s a long table in the back large enough to seat 24.

Where to even begin...only reason it isn't a 1 star is because the food was semi-edible and I managed to eat about half of it. NOTHING served to me was hot. Everything was luke warm. Tortillas were chewy like they had been sitting around all day and the chicken in my fajita plate was very clearly processed frozen chicken from a bag. GROSS. It's absolutely beyond me that this place has a decent rating....of course once you look closer you realize that NONE of the locals endorse this place. Just tourists who don't know what good Mexican food is. Decent atmosphere, middle of town. All the service staff was friendly and attentive. The food though....horrible. Pretty sure nothing I was handed was made to order. Everything tasted like it came from a can or a bag and then sat around for a few hours. Proceed with caution. Would not recommend to anyone.

Alright, folks, let me tell you about my daily adventures to Poblano's in San Antonio! If you're looking for some seriously good Mexican grub that won't break the bank (we're talking that glorious "$ " price range), then buckle up.

First off, the vibe at Poblano's is just plain welcoming. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel like you're hanging out with friends, and the service? Speedy Gonzales himself would be jealous. These folks are ON it.

Now, let's talk about the food. Oh. My. Goodness. Their signature dish is a burrito that's literally bigger than my forearm. I'm not even exaggerating! I swear they use a small sleeping bag to wrap it. You might need a friend to help you finish it.

But the real MVPs here? Two words: Charro. Beans. Seriously, I don't know what kind of magic they're working in that kitchen, but these beans are life-changing. I could probably write a sonnet about them. And don't even get me started on the daily beef fajita taco. Tender, flavorful, and oh-so-satisfying. It's like a little party in your mouth.

Honestly, I can't recommend Poblano's enough. Great food, excellent service, and an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Just be prepared to loosen your belt a notch (or two) when you leave. You've been warned! Go get your grub on! Be sure to ask for Nas, the man who’s the “face of the place” as should you need any...

This restaurant was really convenient as it was super close from our hotel, like 5 min walking to get there, the menu has good amount of dishes in the menu, restaurant was clean, good bar area, good atmosphere, good music, and the price was also a positive aspect, for some reason restrooms were closed which that could happen, right? There are no big issues there, now about the food... despite the menu having a good number of options, we were 4 persons and ordered 3 different things (Chilaquiles, Santa Ana Plate and a Menudo)+ 1 appetizer that we shared (Fajita nachos), the food was just ok, not really tasteful, I mean it was OK, but not something that would makes us comeback, restaurant has great things, if the recipe could be more flavourful would be a super spot to go regularly.

Also, there is a hostess with a bad attitude, I got the impression that she was not willing to speak Spanish even when it's clear she is capable of doing it (she named some ingredients with a Clean and fluid Spanish word) my parents are visiting and they struggle with English, I would not feel comfortable that some one like her not willing to switch to Spanish is receiving them as I know my parents would struggle to communicate. In the other hand there was another lady, that was super kind and nice...
