I don't understand the other reviews. Are they fake? Or, people paid to give them 5 stars? Or maybe they're just people who run the place that are giving the business five stars? Anyway, I thought this place would be ideal to meet some people that I could collaborate with concerning my new company that I just started. Upon paying the monthly fee to join I was introduced to their slack channel, in which case I was able to chat with a lot of the members there. And I did. The vast majority of people (as in 99% of people) that I spoke to seem to have the mentality of high school kids. Very unprofessional, and as a previous reviewer noted about the new members orientation, no one was talking to anyone. I tried to talk to a few people there but no one seemed interested in wanting to talk about anything not related to beer or partying... and this is what passes for a "professional space"?
The mentality of this place reminded me of being on Facebook.... I stayed for 4 months but consistently found it was not a professional space in any way shape or form, and I did not find anyone to collaborate with concerning my company, despite attending events as well as reaching out on their slack channel. I really thought I could find some business Partners here but like I said the five star reviews for this place are either being generated by people being paid, or they're just all out fake reviews.
The only thing I noticed a lot of reviewers did say that is true is that the parking is horrible. I believe it is around $7 an hour to pay for parking so if you're there all day be ready to pay a lot of money... I'm really upset and can no longer trust reviews on the internet, because they obviously are not telling the "true story".
Over the course of my life, I have started and sold eight businesses and thought that this would streamline the process, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
Again the reviews for this place are extremely deceptive and misleading. What I read from the five star reviews is 180° different than what I experienced over the course of 4 months consistently making contact with various people whether on the slack Channel or in the building throughout the day. Oh and last but not least - they don't give refunds. I could have put that money to a lot better use -...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDepending on who you meet as well as your personal niche, you could have a great time here or a horrible time. I experienced the latter....From a total stranger interupting me while I was speaking to another person, all the way to another marketer blatantly walking up from out of nowhere in an attempt to try and steal my prospect at the SAME TIME I AM INTERVIEWING said prospect for potential business.....Outrageous?
Yes, and extremely unprofessional to say the least. He even had the balls to hand my prospect his cheesy business card as Im sitting there looking right at him. Of course, he ignored my presence. He was too busy trying to steal my prospect which I never got as a customer...."Is this really happening?" was all I could think at the time...
If you go there, my advice is to make sure you watch your back and DONT trust every person you meet no matter how kind they may appear to be. For the majority, it seems everyone is out for themselves, even if it is at YOUR peril.
All in all, I won't ever be signing up to come back to this place. I used to have a positive outlook towards people, but because of my experiences from Geekdom in San Antonio, I am EXTREMELY wary of everyone now.
I see a degree of deception in every person now....as if they're waiting to take advantage of me in anyway they can.... If this place is an indication of our present society in America, then allow me to be the first to hop on a plane to Holland (and never look back)!
I expected more out of this place. It has profoundly disappointed me and my expectations for any team projects, ideas I have, etc. - I will stick to hiring people from india and china via online websites as they are more trustworthy than people I found at Geekdom...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGeekdom is a great collaborative place. The introduction is very throrough and explains almost everything they focus on. Since they are a startup incubator, almost everyone is focused on their work since they pay for the membership, but they are very helpful when asked. The key is to find out from the front desk who is there that can help you with your concern and seek them out.
As another viewer commented that she found it unhelpful, she did not have a real name nor did she understand that in the business world, you have to actively seek out help instead of waiting for it to come to you.
There are plenty of places for teaching opportunities and I think they do something like a hundred meetuos and events a month where you can learn so much on such a variety of topics so I think a one star review is simply from someone who has the wrong expectations and is ignorant of all the events and opportunites there.
Great place for collaborative help on a tech startup including legal, security, data , and many other firms...
